Thanks!

Yeah, I wish we could get confirmation already.
There's literally 0% chance that he won't be doing the sequel. I think the real worry is if it'll suffer IM2 syndrome all over again, or if it'll actually live up to the first and even out weigh it.

They have a lot of pressure for A2.. if it isn't played right, so much could go wrong.
or so much could go right.

^As much as I can be a downer on Evans/Cap for whatever reason, he's always seemed like a good guy in interviews and all that, and I think he's great for the role. I really, really hope CA2 is excellent.

I've said it a million times, but Cap has a long ways to go and I want Evans to transform with that. A bit MCU/OT but we don't know who's directing/writing CA2 yet, do we?

Honestly I think the CAP character has the most legs out of all the heroes. He's still in the beginning stages. We still need to see him learn and grow into a true leader. There were definitely hints of it in Avengers but we are really going to get to see him become CAP. The others? Not so much.

I think RDJ is a great Tony Stark but I think I'll get tired of him eventually. Banner has never been an interesting character for me and Thor is just... Thor. I don't read comics so I'm talking out of my ass big time but in the movie world where stories don't have months (even years) to develop, where do these characters go from here?

Really curious to see how it all plays out.

Kind of hate that armor but only because whenever I look at it I see a cat. Bugs the hell out of me. But I do agree that it looks a lot more like "armor" than usual. I always wonder how Stark can take all of these falls and hits with the armor being so close to his body. Do they ever explain that?

But let's be serious. Look carefully at the gif, Thor starts off what, like way less than half the size of Hulk, he tosses his tiny hammer, I mean its teensy! As it travels to Hulk, it's magically altering in size and when it lands in Hulk's hand, its suddenly large enough to fit in Hulk's hand. This is just too incredible to believe. I can't swallow this hogwash.

I hope this post puts things into perspective.

Speaking of Bird, I rewatched The Incredibles for the first time in a couple years last night and goddamn is it as good as ever. Still the best superhero movie.

Gosh darn hammer changing size!

Watched it for a 2nd time today. Cap and Thor are now tied in comparison to my previous rankings.

Hulk > Iron Man > Cap/Thor > Black Widow > Hawkeye

Hulk > Iron Man > Cap/Thor > Black Widow > Hawkeye

would pick it the same just

Hulk > Iron Man > Cap/Thor > Hawkeye/Black Widow

its just my opinion, the 2 last (team) of names i just liked equally :)

Banner's not interesting?

Banner's the only science guy in Marvel who's actually a good guy rather than an amoral prick. (I suppose Peter Parker qualifies too, but they kinda don't do much with his science background.)

The others are willing to drop NY into the negative zone or blast their friends and families with cosmic rays on a dare.

Given that Tony Stark's one of those amoral pricks, I could see this segueing into a Planet Hulk movie eventually.

Anybody think its likely the next Avengers movie would be a two parter? Trying to top this one while not being overly long seems like a tall order. And give Joss some space to work with and I think he'd make great use of it.

Not that those 2 1/2 hours didn't fly by.

From the comic? Try mythology. Odin has always been associated with ravens.

I'm pretty sure the thing about Captain America reflecting the laser from Iron Man in that exact way comes from the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 game, but it's probably from the comics. As for the little details, the Black Sabbath shirt and Widow's gloves.

Wait, what about Black Widow's gloves?

I really like where Jaw Sweden wants to go with the sequel.

Joss Whedon has said that a sequel to The Avengers would need to be "smaller" and "more personal".

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator told SFX that he doesn't want a follow-up to "rehash" what worked in the first film.

Asked how Avengers 2 could top next month's superhero blockbuster, Whedon responded: "By not trying to. By being smaller. More personal, more painful.

"By being the next thing that should happen to these characters, and not just a rehash of what seemed to work the first time. By having a theme that is completely fresh and organic to itself."

Whedon joked that a sequel could take heed from crime classic The Godfather II "by having flashbacks to young Michael Andolini escaping Sicily to come to New York, where he will be called Corleone".

"Sequels are always better when that happens," he quipped.

Whedon added that he has strived to give each character in The Avengers, which brings together Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk, enough screen time to see "what makes them awesome".

"I want to know what makes them tick, what makes them flawed, what makes them fight - and ultimately, what makes them awesome," he explained. "I go to these movies for those moments when the heroes define themselves, either through action or deliciously overwritten speeches."

Sounds excellent. He knows exactly what was 'wrong' with Avengers, but it's something that it had to do regardless, in order to get the numbers and reaction we see now, I think.

Question is how do you make it more intimate and a greater struggle while not being a super action spectacle that gets most people to watch it in the first place.

The only thing I wish for is Captain America to be much more badass. He's not just a dude that's in great shape he's at the pinnacle of human potential.

Well of course, I can see you're a huge fan.

Somehow, I am not surprised. At all.
Screw you guys.

He also already shown he can make a dreadful live action movie.

No thanks.
All of the problems with that film lied within the script, which he had no part in.

I'd wait until his upcoming 1906 before you judge his live-action movie making abilities.

Edit: and MI:GP was a pretty big hit with critics and the masses both, his direction was the reason for that although personally the film was too held by back the script for me to really enjoy it.

I dunno how MI4 is worse than The Avengers outside of not having pre established characters with decades of history behind them, but that's me and I am in the wrong thread.

Finally got around to seeing this and it was awesome.

So many great scenes.

Love that bit where Captain America shows up in front of the police and starts telling them what to do and the cop goes "who the hell are you why should I take orders from you?" and then he beats all those aliens and cop obeys.
