So Loki was controlling Hulk? How did he get the initial control over him? He never tapped him or anything. Banner picking up the staff is kind of a question mark for me--why did he pick it up in the first place? If Loki already was controlling him at that point, it is not really explained how he was doing it, as he never tapped him. And if it started after he picked up the staff, why did he pick it up in the first place?

And how did the control break?

Not saying I disagree, just curious how this went down.

It wasn't direct control like the others, rather it was the staff's aura putting everyone on edge and making Banner more likely to lose control.

Tap -> full on instant brainwashing like control
Staff in vicinity -> area of effect thing that amps up negative thoughts that already had some sort of seed

Also kind of astounded at how many of those covers DC put out over the years and how that never affected Superman's status of this pure ideal boyscout prototype hero.

What's it like compared to gyros?

I love gyros

Similar to gyros so if you like gyros, chances are you'll like shawarma.

I ended up getting a spicy chicken shawarma for dinner. The Oasis Grill that's near my work does a lavash wrap shawarma versus the pita. I find it easier to eat that way as it's like a burrito.

Rewatched this and some of the "movie logic" bugs the shit outta me. I hate when people can leap/fall and then grab onto/catch something that's moving 100 MPH. It's kinda okay when Loki does it, but Black Widow?

Also, why the hell does Iron Man "fall" back through the portal, in what seems to be a zero gravity environment? There doesn't appear to be atmosphere, as he passes out and his suit powers down.

I do KINDA understand the whole "use Hulk against us" angle. I can't recall if Loki has some sort of mental "corruption" power in Thor, but it seems like his presence there is mentally/emotionally affecting the team, right? Hence, the "move your finger to your head and look distressed" cue that happens a few times.

There really needs to be a Hulk movie w/Ruffalo--he's so damned good as Banner and I feel like the CG is "there", now.

Really hope in the sequel they get some other female superhero to replace Black Widow. On a rewatch, it dug in how useless she is and so would like another character to either add to the banter or the power rankings.

This movie was fucking awesome. Have many people been forced to eat their hats due to all the shit talking from a few months back?

Whedonites, you guys deserve to boast. This movie portrayed the Avengers perfectly, and it took itself seriously enough not to be stupid but never lost its sense of comic book fun. My wife (I know, I know) was very skeptical about being dragged to another super hero action movie, but she loved it.

Great job!

She wasn't any more useless than Hawkeye or Captain America. And why "replace"? There should be more female Avengers, period.

After finally watching Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, hype for Ant-Man, Wasp and Ultron has increased. Come on, Wright.

Hawkeye and Captain America were actually doing stuff throughout the movie. Hawkeye actually served a purpose as a scout and Captain worked great as a leader to organize the team. Black Widow kinda just wandered off and did her own thing as that was all she could really manage to do.

And closed the portal. You know, the entire point of the battle.

And Dr. Strange before Black Panther, plz.

The only reason she could was because she wasn't doing anything else. The rest of the team was actually fighting. Since she couldn't do jack there, she had the free-time to grab the stick and let the doctor do the rest. There was very little if not nothing she did there that nobody else could have done and certainly didn't require much thinking on her part.

At some parts, she's great and very physical, and at others, there's just something awkward about it. She has a few limp-wristed punches and at one point near the end, she is running with a few others and its comically awkward. Like she's never run a day in her life. She also has some pretty corny lines.

Iron Man: "I'm bringing the party to you."
Black Widow: "That doesn't look like a party."
Whedon: *laughs*

I did just watch Haywire the other weekend, so I think I'm jaded on heroines.

Considering they had already destroyed or "deactivated" the entire enemy army, I didn't get the rush to close it. Could Thor have gone through and recovered Iron Man?

I don't see how that's any different from Cap or Hawkeye, everyone could've done what they did, but okay. They're not gonna get rid of Widow and they've specifically mentioned they want more female Avengers. Outside of Wasp, it doesn't seem likely at all.

Yeah. They had no way of knowing if there were more Chitauri than that though. I'm gonna assume there were, since their boss survived.
