Just finished up Act 2. Checked the Auction house for some gems. Got two Square Rubies for about 9k. Heh. Probably not going to buy more gear though till I get to Nightmare outside a new weapon.

I'm 26 Wizard and my DPS is less than half that. *Feels bad*

Very much agreed on DWing, especially for Monk. It's a speed increase but a shield with similar stats will provide the same bonus as an off-hand weapon, you'll be just as quick, and have more survivability. I swapped over during nightmare and it was much easier to solo stuff in my 95% Magic Find set.

On that note, I adjusted it some more after playing with the AH and got my DPS up to 2k but still have 95% MF. I'm going to scavenge the AH for more items to boost my DPS/Survival and keep that MF or get it higher for Hell.

In the mean time, I'm discovering a Gold Find build for new characters might be quite nice as a way of earning a bit of cash on the side while you level.

I'm not sure, but I think that going with a one-hander + quiver on a Demon Hunter may give the dual-wielding attack speed bonus in addition to whatever bonus the quiver has. Or at least the generally faster attack speed of the one-hander + the quiver bonus. A high-end two-hander would probably be better though.

Yeah, toying with it and it's just hard to make it worthwhile. Even at optimal setup (two exact duplicate weapons), you're still better off with a similar stat Shield just because the socketed Gems actually work on your Main Hand.

Dual Wielding doesn't really give you any real benefit over a Shield barring Spirit Generation which, honestly, is through the roof anyhow. I'd rather take block chance and an extra 10%+ mitigation. And probably gain on the damage anyway due to the sockets vs +Damage.

And, to explain that +Damage bit here, +Damage on your Off-Hand does nothing for your Main Hand (and same for MH on the OH) so all +Damage on your OH does is get it "closer" to your MH's listed damage. The only real damage bonus from Dual Wielding is from the 15% Increased Attack Speed and that requires both the weapons you're using to be really close in damage or else you lose damage.

Just an example the Rare War Sword you can make (Req. Level 29) costs ~4.5k and AHs pretty easily for 6k+ even on duds. If it has a socket and a good stat/+Damage, probably closer to 10k. Not really that bad, honestly.

I was more thinking of nightmare stuff and higher. Damn blacksmith pages.

Getting my ass kicked by the final boss on normal. I think I might have been stacking damage and MF for my gear too much and have fucked myself HP wise. Only 1.7k HP as a level 32 Wizard and I just simply can't stay alive, he kills me almost instantly :\.

Yes, 1.7k hp is nothing atleast 3k-4k and after in NM even more...

I think I have that much HP on my 35 WD on nightmare. :(

What ?

Just about to hit Level 55. I am having a rough time in Hell, it's pretty much impossible to do anything productive. I have my bar full of defensive cooldowns when I do try and solo it, but I just get frustrated and quit. I found a good public group and found myself in Act 2, but for now I am waiting on some friends to catch up before I go any further.

The Magic finding in this game is frustrating. It's new, so people aren't gonna have the best gear, so it makes the game all the more challenging, which I appreciate and enjoy, I just find myself unproductive in getting upgrades, because A. I can't find anything good in the game, and B. The stuff on the Auction House is severely overpriced. How is everyone else enjoying the game? Anyone made it to Act IV of Hell yet, if so, what's your opinion on the overall difficulty?

Morning guys,

my 5th HC DH:

After the previous 4 deaths at 18,44,33 and 23ish I decided to go for a tanky setup this time. This should atleast let me survive a DC next to 2-3 trash mobs.

Nice. I think DH is maybe one the most difficult class to play in HC you can die very easily.
The only way to survive with the DH is the hp pool because you have a lot of mobility but sometimes you get hit so max vitality !

You can't imagine how stupid I felt when I realized that the game just straight up tells you which items are better

I sold some blues that were better than my yellow I had equipped, but since it was blue I didn't even bother checking the stats because I thought yellow was always better than blue. Yeah I was really stupid with this game :lol

Hum... 234 vit ? Your character hp seems very low, do you have atleast a gem +% life in your helm ?

I've just accepted that this might happen and just vendor all blues without a care in the world :x

Bought this and I have to say I am not really "enjoying" this game at all. This is my first Diablo game and I love Loot games like Torch Light, Borderlands and ect but for some reason this game just is not clicking with me. Not bad by any means though except this stupid DRM shit that causes me to lag in single player :/

Lol some blues are better than legendary !

What do I need to do to add my Battle.net tag to the Google docs list?
My tag is Danielsan#2760, region is Europe and class a Demon Hunter.

Would love to party up with some Gaffers.

I came pretty close. Got the final boss down to about 1/4 hp before I got caught and killed. Switched out to Hydra, gave up my Valor, and won on the second try. Nothing interesting dropped, though. Time to start trying to solo Inferno!

Diablo III is a far superior game to Torchlight 1 in almost every respect. As for the lag, there seem to be some issues at the moment where it's unusually high for some people: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5149177854

The game plays great when the latency is in the green.

Hell is insane with the elite mods on some units. The bosses are tuned fine but the unique mobs are just crazy.

Farming nightmare is not a viable option because if you understand how loot is generated, you'd know that nightmare only goes up to a certain character level, which becomes obsolete even in act 1 hell. Act 1 hell is impossible to farm solo without running into insane uniques. Yeah I can deal with frozen fast minion mobs, but then theres the shield mortar illusion extra health mobs that you will never kill and will kill you if you stay within range of them. Its impossible for a WD to deal with the phasebeasts and the licker mobs in act 3.

What I'm trying to say is that at some point in hell, the skill element of diablo is gone and it becomes a gear game.

Also, is there going to be content patches similar to WoW or Diablo 2 or is it going to be barren until the next diablo expansion?

If you're just getting rolling on NM over the weekend and you are US realm, shoot me an add! Really enjoyed the time I've played with gaffers thus far. I'll probably do Act I and II tomorrow morning/afternoon. echoshifting#1278

It's best to quote the battletag image to make sure they don't miss you

I actually have a legendary on my 20 something Demon Hunter and I didn't even realize it until today. I just assumed it was a yellow. Orangeish/yellow

Diablo 2, to me, is better than this game in every single possible way. Nearly every change they made was for the worse. The loot is WAY worse, character customization is WAY worse, quest rewards are worse, classes are worse.

This is the biggest gaming disappointment of all time for me I think. Diablo 2 was my favorite game of all time, and I still play it occasionally, but I just find this game hard to love. I don't even think I like it.

I am still early on, with an Act III Demon Hunter, but ugh. I am bored out of my mind playing through Act III. The loot is a damn chore to sift through. The level design is boring.

I already dread going through these Acts again with another character. I must have beaten Diablo II at least 100 times (as in, all 5 Acts, so getting through Hell would be 3). I don't know if I will even be able to stand getting a single character through to Inferno.

Most people most likely know about the Act IV quest 1 exp abuse. You can do that quest over and over again for some nice exp.

However, just found out that the Wortham quest in Act I gives you even more. 39k xp in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Plus one rare pack, so most likely a rare every time with 80 or mf.

Nice opinion. Mine is d3 is great but I wouldn't say its kick butt awesome. Going to be playing tl2 beta soon so I have even bigger opinion.

Now compared to tl1 of course d3 has multiplayer.

I hit 60 on my wizard today. Solo'd everything to Act IV of hell then hit a brick wall at the first encounter in Act IV. Can't seem to do it alone. However, I was able to kill just about any combination of unique mobs you could think of with enough respawning and kiting. I joined my first public game today and found that they were trying to skip elite packs that were troublesome so I just went back to solo farming with the 60 buff because that seems easier than banging my head against a wall with randoms.

Wait wait wait...so dual wielding on a monk is inadvisable? Hmmm. Going to have to adjust my setup then. I mean I am still in normal wrecking shit but I always want to be as optimally equipped as I can be. I really don't get many good shield drops though.

Could I see a pic of your wizard, or a link to the build?

Just beat Nightmare mode with Boken. Every boss in this game is far too easy, or maybe I just broke the game with my Barbarian stunlock build, I can't figure it out. I'm only level 48 and I guess I can't play Hell mode yet. Guess I have to go back and grind up or something my gear kind of sucks so it couldn't hurt.

Dual wielding at a 15% increased attack speed is just not worth it.

If they made it 30% or even better 40% then it might be worth it to forgo the shield.

Very much agreed on DWing, especially for Monk. Yeah you can quickly rack up gold even with a GF that's just around 50 or so. I've been going with an MF build too, since early Act 1 Normal. Fun stuffs :>

Eh, it's still not terrible, just reliant on both weapons being practically identical. If your Off-Hand is worse than your Main Hand, the DPS gain from the speed boost starts diminishing until you're actually in the position where you do less damage when Dual Wielding. Granted, it takes a bit (~15% difference in weapon DPS) but still.

On top of that, just getting more stats off the Shield is just generally a better use of a socket anyway, ultimately.

Been playing since launch with a 4 player group and it's been a blast so far. I'm Wiz and rolling with Barb/Monk/WD. Started Hell and got a bit over halfway through Act 2 and I must say it can be quite a fucking shitshow LOL. Some of the combinations of stats on rare mobs/elite packs can turn into a 10-15 minute encounter of kiting and picking off mobs one at a time. That's just the only way to deal with it, especially if deaths are involved. The difficulty is definitely there, but I know some of our items are pretty crappy. We put off looking at the auction house for quite a while, but were surprised at some of the upgrades available for pretty reasonable prices, so we've been buying and selling a few items here and there and getting some nice upgrades/seeing better results.

All in all, absolutely loving it and look forward to playing more :).

I can't sell shit :/

Then again most of my loot are from Normal so it's probably not that valuable.

Generally on normal just finish it and don't worry about the AH until nightmare. Once you are there it's still tough to sell things i the best thing to do is
1.Sell stuff that has high +VIT and either High STR, VIT, or DEX since this is the stuff people are going to want. Be careful with weapons/armor since certain classes will only use certain types e.g barbarian will not use a bow with high STR and VIT, if its high DEX and VIT then a hunter will definitely buy it.
2. To get a price range, search for items that have that combination of stats to get an estimate e.g a bow with 80 dex, and 50 VIT limit the search to a few levels above and below and include VIT and STR when searching. This should get you an idea of what to sell your stuff for.

There is a weird problem with this game where it is infinitely more enjoyable with 3 or 4 people, but it is inadvisable to play through with a group your first time because you will steamroll absolutely everything and you are guaranteed to miss plot, dialogue or even bosses if someone accidentally starts something early. I'm not sure which is preferable. All I know is I'm not really gonna be soloing much anymore.

Yeah, and what about the 15% chance to dodge while dual wielding coming from 'The Guardian's Path' passive? I guess there are better passives to use. 15% to dodge is pretty high though.

Yup. First play through I did at my own pace, enjoyed the story. Now in NM and beyond it's time to group and kill em all.

Yq6FJ.jpg

my group right after beating nightmare. my barb was level 51 - 3.3k dps, 17k hp. don't clown on the witch doctor, that highlander lookin' sword had some crazy ass stats. I only played for 15 or so minutes but hell difficulty was awesome.

I saw you playing Act IV earlier while I was just starting it XD

Will definitely join you if my ping improves

Ugh. Fought my way through to the Cathedral, got some interesting Inferno drops on the way, and got killed in a quarter of a second by a group of Fire Chains / Illusionist / Vortex / Fast zombies.

Solo'ing through Normal and then grouping through the other difficulties seems a good compromise. I'm doing that myself and I've seen others go that route as well.

Dual Wielding has two advantages:

1) Greater hatred/spirit generation
2) Effectively benefits twice from +damage itemization

It is going to produce lower dps on spreadsheet, however.

Spreadsheet factors +Damage. +Damage on your MH does not work on your OH, however. And it doesn't technically factor twice from +Damage since it still alternates attacks. At best, it factors +Damage on a faster attack speed, not twice.

in my frustration, I managed to forget about vendors. I'll do that from now on. and yea, crafting seems to fucking suck. lol. maybe we're doing it wrong...but I've not seen anything worth paying 10k to upgrade the dude, then another however much for an item.

I'm happy to say "I don't know." Just seems like at this point, it costs more to upgrade the shop than it does to simply buy good shit from the Auction House.

Has anyone upgraded their shop up to or beyond level 5? If so, what's your take?

keep going and he'll start crafting yellow items.. *shrug* I can't say with certainty that it's worth it, but it's better than the stuff the vendors have that's for sure.

How does it work with stuff like Rapid Fire on the DH? Is it just pulling from the MH for this move even when DW?

Is there any way to completely fix items? Because I have some items that are 48/49 and I can't fix them which means I can't sell them at the AH.
