Had a DH in hell act 3 while a group of 3 was clearing the first section just go "hold on a minute" and went afk for 20 mins then came back and said "gotta go, sorry" and then left the game. I whispered him and voiced my displeasure with his actions.

Do people not realize they are making it a pain in the ass for everyone else?
You have to remember you are in a public which automatically makes everyone non-reliable and also you have to realize real life shit comes up.

I have had to bail quite a few times during heroic runs on WOW and it made me feel really shit but in the end it's a game, i had to leave one game because my dog needed outside and although that sounds like a shitty excuse my dog/life comes before a video game :-/

rarely do i leave but it happens and i do AFK from time to time but if i know i will be AFK for a long period of time i will just tell them you can either wait 10-20-30 minutes or ill just bounce so you can get on with your game. I can understand the frustration that has on people but people have to realize that lives don't stop when you log in a computer a game.

It was pretty much the same in D2, except Inferno didn't exist, and Hell was still pretty easy. There were like 4-5 mobs (+ a handful of affix combinations on elites) in the whole game that were really dangerous, except if you were melee in which case the game was just broken for you thanks to Iron Maiden on mobs. Also every class had infinite teleport once you farmed the best item in the game and you were basically invincible.

Anyone have the link to the Blizz topic where they addressed the Blues and Yellow Rares being better than Legendaries and Uniques? I'm trying to show my friend that they are indeed better than the "higher" tier weapons, but he doesn't believe me.

I've been playing this game since Friday on Normal with real life friends and internet friends from various sites. I'm on Act III and I'm actually not caring if I'm getting spoiled by jumping ahead or being overpowering by going backwards to Act I. I'm also using a Demon Hunter, lvl 28, but I'm trying to not die so much (I try to use socketed weapons as much as possible and trying to use skills that boost hatred). Basically, I use the quick roll to try to get out of trouble but use hatred based attacks most of all. (So if I ever attempt a harder difficulty I know I need to change up my tactics).

This game. This game. I'm actually liking the fact that Blizzard insisted upon it being online only now.

Hit 60 finally, as the glassiest of all cannons. Just
Diablo
left until Inferno. Ugly pants courtesy of MC Hammer (no, really, Hammer Jammers). Can't be dyed ;_; or touched.

I hope they implement AH searching by price, because the pages and pages of multi-million gold inferno items is difficult to navigate through.

Auction House has all the proof you need. Plenty of blues that are better than legendaries.

When are spoilers going to be ok in this thread? Spoilers for a Diablo game are ridiculous to care about in the first place.
.

Edit: Never mind, I see now. Seems a long time for this kind of stuff.

No, don't pick up grey equipment, or most white stuff, it's really not worth the space in your pack. Pick up gems, though.

No, it isn't. By Act 2 I was picking up only blues and up, and salvaging most of my blues while selling a few. You get a decent amount of gold just from the gold drops alone.

Ok, thank you.
It gets annoying having to stop to clear out my bags every so often.

I guess I'll sell some of the blue things I pick up. I've been salvaging all of it, even though I never really make anything with the blacksmith.

Just spent two hours fighting through the beginning of Inferno Act 2 with my solo wizard. Built up my 5 stacks of Nephalem Valor and took down the first boss. I did not get a single drop that was better than what I could have gotten from the Skeleton King. Really lame.

Poor guys was probably getting yell at by his significant others. Is there no option to boot someone from your party?

Read it, hasn't changed my mind. They are owned by Acitivision, they have huge influence over the company, if they choose to let them do their own thing because they're highly profitable isn't relevant to the option of control.

no, they are owned by vivendi

activision didn't acquire blizzard, vivendi acquired more than half of activision and converted their subsidiary vivendi games into activision-blizzard

the management of blizzard has remained independent

why is this confusing to you

I think that's the point of inferno though. It's supposed to be tough as diablo's balls

Hell, I was under the impression that it wasn't expected of us to start it right after hell anyways, but rather farm for gear in hell first before starting.

There is a votekick option but I've never got it to work.

If you're going AFK, make sure you do leave the game instead of stay idle in New Tristram or something. Don't make the game more difficult for the other players.

damn that's sweet. I'm at level 48 and just boosted my dps a bunch (thanks to the bow smr00 gave me!). 11K HP.

I aspire to be like you stat wise by 60. Hopefully I'm on pace, don't know how you were doing at level 48.

the management of blizzard has remained independent

Mike Morhaime himself has said he reports directly to Bobby Kotick.

Blizzard probably remains largely autonomous because (however of an evil dick he may be at times) Bobby Kotick is a smart business man. But saying that blizzard is independent is false. They are (assumedly so) only on a technicality. They are allowed it.

For starters, no game is ever balanced at the beginning. Expect changes in upcoming patches. What those changes will be nobody knows, but it's fairly certain there will be plenty of changes in the coming months, like every other game.

Secondly, on higher difficulty levels gear becomes ever so much more important. Are you just going through the game at a constant pace, relying on whatever random drops you happen to find? Start decking out your characters. You can find some really amazing stuff on the AH for cheap if you look.

Yeah, I've been pimping my character out pretty well with AH stuff. That's not even a question. I love it. I'm not pumping out the numbers some people are, but I'm also way above others that just rely on the game's drops. I have a mostly easy time soloing, even in hell, and we mostly do well enough outside of the elites when I'm grouping. It's just grouping + elites = death. You literally can't get through some of those mobs. It's just too crazy.

Am I correct at assuming that my 52 monk (beginning of hell) has pretty low DPS at around 2k? Not using any AH gear atm.

My lvl 52 monk has the same dp in hell. I hit a wall at the
3 shielded dark mortar jailer beast in wortham
.

edit1: The dps is all over the place. So far 6k-14k for DH and wth at the 48k dps WD.
edit2: Forgot to add jailer. By the way eff jailer and vortex. And obviously invulnerable.

What's his argument? That because it's Legendary it must be better?

That he doesn't see evidence that a rare can be far and away better than a Legendary.

He's starting to come around, because I mentioned it was certainly a problem for lvl 60 gear, but we started arguing about lvl 30 stuff.

Any AUS gaffers out there? Can you fill me in on how bad/tolerable the lag is?

Really thinking about picking this up, but tired of dealing with lag. One of the major reasons i left Wow.

Usually in the ~400 latency range for me (Newcastle).

It's tolerable, but not brilliant.

What seriously blows my mind is that it took 12 years.

D3 is not a big game. It's not overly ambitious. It's not particularly pretty. It doesn't have some unique feature that has never been done before. It's a good dungeon crawler with addicting loot. Don't get me wrong, D3 is a great game. But 12 years? I guess I'm just curious on what could have taken so long when you look at the final product. If anything, there are a lot of features that are pretty basic. The AH interface could use more options and the matchmaking is pretty terrible when you have no friends to play with.

They either went through dozens of revisions with several rollbacks or we're all in a deep coma.

Just curious, that's all. :)

D3 wasn't in development for 12 years

Really, REALLY enjoying wizard :3

Welp, just shit on Diablo in Nightmare. Never even came close to dying.

Wiz is the definition of "The Easy Button".

Maybe Hell will pose more of a challenge. Maybe not.

What's your specific build?

Zombie Charger - Zombie Bears
Spirit Walk - Honored Guest
Mass Confusion - Unstable Realm
Hex - Jinx
Soul Harvest - Siphon
Gargantuan or Big Bad Voodo, depends on the party makeup.

Passives: Jungle Fortitude, Bad Medicine, Vision Quest.

I just finished Hell with this build today. I had ~37,000 HP and normal attacks were hitting for ~8-16k and crits were up to ~30k or so.

It is a boring build, most of your skills are just there to trigger Vision Quest which in turn gives you enough regen to spam Zombie Bears.

So how are the melee types dealing with the higher difficulty levels? I'm currently in Hell Act IV with my monk and it seems like I'm having some trouble finding my role in groups. In normal/nightmare I would use dashing strike to get into a group of mobs and then use cyclone strike to gather everything up so everyone could blow them up.

If I try and use this strategy at my current point in the game I get my ass handed to me. I've generally moved to a completely different strategy, swapping cyclone strike for lashing tail kick since it seems more helpful now to get stuff off of me versus getting more things in melee range.

In fights against champions with difficult ability combinations I generally find myself running around using various heals since its hard to get in and attack when serenity isn't available. I've been using the heal mantra with the circular breathing rune since getting spirit can be difficult in these situations.

Current stats are here, ignore the skills, I was just messing with various things since I hit 60.

This is what happened. But it probably wasn't "dozens" of revisions. If that were the case, we would get the game in a few years :)

30k is waaaaaaay to much to spend on anything in Nightmare.

15k max. never a dime more.

A month from now 30k will seem like nothing. I spent about 20k on a weapon with no regrets.

I spent about 110K total in gear to double my dps for nightmare. Went in with 650 or so. But drops only got me to 800. Spent 110K in the AH for about 4 pieces (sword, shield, chest and pants - I think). Doubled my dps to 1600.

lol, this sounds horrible

I forsee a nerf coming to Inferno anyway now that it's been world firsted.

What? Nerf? Hell no. This is the difficulty we were all asking for back when we were destroying normal without going below 80% HP. This is the counter to all of the posts noting how they are Daydreaming/Sleepwalking through the first two difficulties. None of the abilities the trash packs get are new, its just that they have nearly all of them now.

I dont think its fair for the game to get hard, and now we step back and say its ruined the game. Thats sorta not cool, Inferno isn't supposed to be cleared regularly by the general populace more than likely. PUG'ing it likely wont go very well.

At this point you have to go to your BNet friends list, form a group with other great players you came across while leveling (People you know to be competent players) All of you spec for support abilities and stack them, then use kiting, luck, skill and gods mercy to kill a pack or two lol.

im normally getting about 250 - 300, melbourne, internode

I'm not a monk but you should be very durable in most fights. Not sure what skills to pick but you should have one that raises your resists by 50%. Haven't seen a tank spec monk go down easily.
