Diablo III |OT2| Queues Rise. Servers Fall.

While it would be nice, I think this is the right way to go. It will keep the economy in balance in the long run.

Yeah, that's basically what I was getting at. Two days in Diablo time is half past forever, really; nobody cares about bidding on items pre-Inferno loot and it's dodgy even then. If your item is priced too high, you just lose a slot for what feels like an eternity.

Hell, I just got back some items that didn't sell yesterday. They're from late Normal. I have two characters deep in Hell now.

They need to fix the AH before they even consider bringing the RMAH online. My main complaint, and I have been using this to make money for myself.

You can buy an item, send to stash and immediately resell the item again. This must be stopped. Basically, you search for specific gear you know will sell, set a low buyout like 5000 gold and just refresh and refresh and refresh. You see an item pop, you try and buy it immediately. You can then go and sell it for 10 to 20 times what you paid for it. Been doing this for days and making unlimited money because people are selling things because they do not know what to put for a value.

Capitalism Ho!

This is great mechanism that will keep prices of gear resonable.

Level 52 on hell act 1. Still no legendary or set pieces. I am pretty much exclusively wearing crafted gear. I am hoping I am an anomaly because not finding any loot in the first 30 hours of play is kinda discouraging if someone hadn't played D2.

Also what is this I hear about maintenance today? Wtf launch week is one thing but why is a full day being taken off for this game. I am okay with always online but wtf is this.

Tell me about it! The sad thing is even with Legendary/ set drops, it'll still be useless against blues/ rares at higher lvls :/

This is just basic buying low/selling high, though. It's just inflated due to the fact people just put things up for sale at whatever price. But, you're welcome for all the sub-10k items that are probably worth 100k+ :x

While it'd be nice, I imagine it's there to try and force prices to be reasonable so you don't tie up a slot. In theory, anyway.

Buy low, sell high. Even if you put a 2 day cooldown on items hitting the AH, they'll just wait 2 days to put them up. It's just how the AH works. It's like that in WoW, too.

Can you even imagine how much worse the problems you are talking about would be if they did this? This is pretty much the only thing holding the dam together at this point.

They could make it a 7 day cooldown or something, I mean there is only so much stash space people can have so eventually they would not be able to keep doing this. Like I said, I am enjoying the hell out of basically making free money but I think this is a very bad exploit when we are talking about real money coming online soon.

This is why eventually we might see account bound items, but I could be wrong.

And I guess I can see the point to not allow me to cancel auctions, but it's just frustrating. It can be gotten around though, just get your friends to search for and buy the items that are not selling and then reimburse them the cost.

Just wondering how you guys are finding deals on the AH. Anything I look at that is even worth considering wants either a ridiculously large buyout or has like DAYS pending on bidding. In HOURS I might no longer want the item, let alone days. That seems a silly thing to do with level 30-40 gear.

If your having stuttering issues on your ATI card you may want to try Fullscreen Window Mode if you're not already. As far as limiting your framerate to decrease load on your GPU, oddly enough the game actually has a setting for that.

yeah, but it's already set at 60. With vsync it's still at 60 but the fans don't go crazy that way, yet there is terrible stuttering.

Gonna try that Full Screen Window mode now.

Just beat Hell with some friends yesterday and getting our shit wrecked on Inferno already haha. Here's my DH's stats currently:

I'm guessing that now it's time to start building up the resists, get a shield for block and defense. I'm curious if anyone knows whether or not the best way to build up defense is to go with more STR or physical damage down. Suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Be specific on the stats you want and put a (reasonable) buyout. Let's say you're Level 33 and looking for a new 1h Weapon for your Monk/DH. Search Levels 30-33, Has Socket (1), Dexterity (30), Vitality (30), with a max Buyout of 40000. Sort by highest DPS and check the items and then sort by lowest Buyout and check the numbers. Toy with the ranges as you want, specify item types (e.g., you're a DH so search 1-Handed Weapons > Hand Crossbows) to limit things even more.

On that note, anyone else annoyed at only three options for the item stats you're looking for? And fuck every single person who puts a Helm up with a socketed Emerald :(

Does it matter a lot whether you have Bash, Cleave or Frenzy as you main attack, depending on the weapon you have equipped? For example, should I absolutely have Bash if I have a hammer?

Trying to figure out how to get the most out of my barbarian.

Look for specific stats, and set a low buyout on the search.

So, for example if you are a Wizard. Set you preferred stats to +INT, +VIT, and + something else like MF or sockets or whatever.

For me at level 51 I usually search for +80 INT and +50 VIT gear.

Set to only search for rares.

Set a low buyout, 10k or less. And then search for items one at a time. Belt, boots, gloves etc... down the list. Every single piece of gear I have I purchased for 10k or less. And almost always I can resell them for more than I bought them. For example, I just resold my chest armor I paid 5k for for about 60k gold.

That is what you do.

No it doesn't matter, weapon types are only important for any skills that specifically state they require certain weapon type. Barbarian weapon master for example actually changed depending on the weapon type equipped, but for the most part you just want to use the best statted item for your character, the weapon type is meaningless for large part in this game.

People do this with all auctions. You buy low and you sell high. It's done on eBay, it's done at police auctions, and it's going to happen with D3. That's why Blizzard is taking a cut of the real money.

Its situational, really.

I usually go with Cleave with exploding rune when I want to mow down mobs.

For boss/champion fights I usually go with Bash with stun rune.

Frenzy if I'm dual wielding.

DPS is a little misleading, but the HP is nice and will do well once you get a shield* for the harder mobs.

As a DH, I'm wondering exactly just how much resist we should get since we can avoid damage with smoke screen. *Kind of the same with the shield, but then it's more reliant on Discipline. I suppose it would depend on playstyle though really.

Just a short maintenance period, I believe.

And whoever posted that pic, please resize it.

Just a short 8hrs ;D

Is anyone else suffering from their screen going blank (black) every so often for like a second or two at a time? It only happens when I'm in town and the odd time when I'm out in the field or dungeon. It's quite bothersome. I have up to date nvidia drivers, but still getting this issue.

It really saddens me that the loot in Path of Exile is so much more exciting than in D3.

They need to do a few changes:

1) Reduce the rare drop rate
2) Reduce blue item effectiveness
3) Increase set/unique drop rate
4) Give set/unques more unique properties.

alright guys i don't get it:

a + 7% attack speed results in MORE damage than a + 20 intelligence on my Witch Doc?

The attack speed applies itself to your weapon damage before it gets multiplied by intelligence. The higher your intelligence, the more damage you'll get out of attack speed.

Imagine the following three scenarios:

50dps weapon
600int
-----
Effective DPS = 50 * (1 + 6.0) = 350dps

50dps weapon
620int
-----
Effective DPS = 50 * (1 + 6.2) = 360dps

50dps weapon
7% attack speed
600int
-----
Effective DPS = 50 * (1 + 0.07) * (1 + 6.0) = 374dps

I realize that, but you don't see the issue with being able to do this with real money. These are virtual items that you have access to immediately and then can immediately resell them. I think this needs to be changed.

Am I really the only one who feels this way?

This needs to happen ASAP. It's laughable that common blues are better than Legendary items. Legendaries and worthless at this point and time.

Signed.

Oddly, the loot really is the most disappointing aspect of this game for me. It's the fast-paced, skillful gameplay that's keeping me going now. I just go to the AH every few levels to upgrade my gear. =/

Yeah don't know what they were smoking in blizz when they designed some of the loot...

You can do that today with non virtual items. What are you so worried about exactly?

They need to put like a 2day cool down or something on items before they can be re-listed after they have been purchased from the AH to prevent people from controlling the AH like it is now.

Like I said, I am using this myself because it exists but it needs to be addressed before the RMAH comes online.

Also, they need to add a function so I can cancel my auctions that are not selling...so frustrating.

Everytime I try to do this I don't end up selling my item unless I put it down to 10k. WHY YOU SO LUCKY!

If they changed the drops someone would be complaining exactly the other way around.
Signed.

Whats bad about the loot?

The fact you're not getting good drops?

Yeah I don't get it either, I think overall dmge is technically DPS as in damage per second, Blizzard may want to reterm that

It says "Damage per second" when you mouse over it. I'd imagine saying "DPS" will have people questioning what it means since it's actually not a ubiquitous term.

...though, you can just mouse over it.

I realize that, but you don't see the issue with being able to do this with real money. These are virtual items that you have access to immediately and then can immediately resell them. I think this needs to be changed.

This is just how markets work. Buy low, sell high with little-to-no time between purchase and resale. That's how the process is in general for market trading.

You're doing it wrong.

1.Make your search pretty specific but not to exclude pieces that aren't 100% perfect.
2.The AH only lets you search the same parameters every 60 seconds or so, so you have to search for 19 strength, or level 33-39, etc.
3.People list things that are 10% of their actual value every 3 minutes or so at peak playing times, from my experience.
4. Search by buyout.
5. Cycle equipment slots.
6. If it looks good, buy it. 4 out of 5 times, I miss the best deals because I spent too long looking at it.

Whats bad about the loot?

The fact you're not getting good drops?

The fact that set and legendary items aren't interesting at all. They don't need to be the best items in the game, but they need to have compelling mods which set them apart.

Just look at the BK wedding band posted a couple pages back. That's depressing to see.

alright guys i don't get it:

a + 7% attack speed results in MORE damage than a + 20 intelligence on my Witch Doc?

Each main stat point adds 1 to the % damage bonus, so (20 / 0.07) - 100 = 186 is the amount of Int you would have for both to be even. If you have more Int, then the 7% attack speed would give you more DPS. If you have less Int, the +20 Int will give more DPS.

Edit: Forgot to factor in 100% base damage with 0 Int.

Everytime I try to do this I don't end up selling my item unless I put it down to 10k. WHY YOU SO LUCKY!

You are just buying the wrong type of items. You can make a few hundred K gold without much effort.

I don't know why some of you have issues with buying low and selling high. That's how I made my money in every MMO since the beginning of time.

I haven't really been keeping up with the latest news on this game because I haven't gotten to play it much in the last week. I've been real busy.

I got a full day yesterday though and I'm up to Act IV on normal. One thing I've noticed in terms of loot is that I keep getting a ton of rares drop. My stash is completely full of them and I've got the 10 max items up at the AH with all rares.

I don't know what to do with all this stuff if it doesn't sell. I'm not even sure what price to put on any of it. Most of the stuff is level 17-25 rares and I've been putting 10-15k buyouts on it. I'm not sure if that's a good price or not. If none of it sells, should I just break it down for crafting materials? I'm seriously out of space, so decisions have to be made on what to do with all of this stuff.

You're doing it wrong.
6. If it looks good, buy it. 4 out of 5 times, I miss the best deals because I spent too long looking at it.

Yes, you can't wait to look at stats. If it's under 20k, just buy it. I guarantee you'll be able to resell it for at least the amount you paid (probably to someone else who will buy it without looking at it).

There's nothing wrong with your strategy of course, but the fact that this seems to be the consensus best way to upgrade your gear and the other side of the coin, that loot drops are disappointing on the whole... very disconcerting stuff. :(

That's exactly what he was implying. -_-
Called it being misinterpreted the moment my eyes hit the word "apparently." :P
