Gearbox: Nintendo has listened to Wii U feedback, controller specs will “be awesome”

Hopefully they're talking about multitouch and not just the improved analog sticks, but if that's what they're referring to I'm still grateful.

Nope.

That star pad thing still makes me laugh. I would have loved to see how they planned on using it.

It's probably just adding sticks + click (and maybe analogue triggers). We don't "officially" know they changed it to sticks yet.

Multiple controller use, Haptic feedback
lol
, Analog sticks/triggers and SD card slot.

Hopefully this includes increasing the range of streaming so you can actually play it across the house.

Multitouch and a non stylus screen seem to be a given. Hopefully they give the controller proper triggers and it's good to go. Now if only the system had more horsepower.

You and the other 3 people.

I mean people tons of people find Draw Something playable with an index finger, I don't know how but is it so bad to want a touch screen to excel at what it does rather than an awkward replacement for everything?

Also I wonder if that patent that turned up could make sense in the Wii U context.

They should drop a slightly updated version of it as the updated controller at E3 just to troll everyone.

Print a small 'win' graphic on there somewhere too and press the win button to win!

Is there one game on Vita that makes multitouch a must have? Even on iPad or iPhone, multitouch games are very few.

Nintendo would be stupid to drop the resistive screen for an inferior capacitive one. Many of their DS games would be outright unplayable on a capacitive screen due to the extreme loss of precision.

Good thing then that you aren't using this to play DS games.

Having a stylus on a device made to be held with two hands is silly. This isn't the same thing as a DS or a Galaxy Note.

Final controller specs?

What does that even mean?

You didn't realised the WiiU controller will run stuff? It will not only stream the image the WiiU is sending to the TV. There will be memory and maybe some processing power if stand alone apps are possible or parts of games that would run independantly there.

Don't listen to your devout and slightly retarded fans, Nintendo. Go capacitive. It's okay to come out of the stone-age. We are all waiting for you when you're ready to come out of the cave and let go of your caveman fans who love old technology.

That's not even the main advantage of capacitive. Capacitive actually works in the year 2012, whereas resisitve beams you back to Year 1995 PDAs, complete with styli.

You're really killing my dream of having competent touch screen indie games on my wii u, man.

Let's ignore capacitive touch screens predate resistive and that you have no idea what you're talking about

God. The thought of a a motion tracker on the controller with the Aliens beeping sound is too awesome to comprehend. Would make it great to play in a pair.

Multitouch is extremely useful and versatile for gesture-based user interfaces. However, having it concurrently with traditional control mechanisms makes it superfluous.

It'd be a nice bonus to have however, so there's that.

It's not so much "lol, old shit" as it is the fact that when you put out a tablet-like controller and try to sell it to the masses, they're going to expect multi-touch. They'd be incredibly stupid to sell a resistive screen to the same market that's used to the iPad.

Multitouch is nice, but it's just a side benefit.

Honestly, what'd be best is for the touch screen to be like the Galaxy Note anyway, but maybe that's too expensive to implant and it'd be a pain to need a proprietary stylus.

Calling all Nintendo fans "slightly retarded?" Wow.

Aside from the ridiculous name-calling, multi-touch isn't necessary when you have buttons/sticks as well. Plus, resistive is more accurate. I'd take that any day.

The stylus on my note isn't really as accurate or fast as the one on my 3DS.

Are capacitive screens really that imprecise? After all the Galaxy Note works pretty well I think.
Also, I think that capacitive screens are more responsive. I really didn't like the buttons on the DS touch screen, which you needed to press and where slight touches weren't enough. Never had such problems on a good smartphone.
