[MS-Conf] Resident Evil 6 Leon Gameplay Demo - E3 2012

it's like they took leon's hilarious RE2 run animation and crammed it into 3D as some sort of nostalgic nod to that game.

QTEs out of the ass and BIG EXPLOSIONS AND KUNGFU MOVES.

Not sure what to think, it's only a few minutes of what's supposed to be a very large game.

Good Biohazard, you're looking Gears of Evil.

Biohazard is dead. ;___; Fuck you Jun Takuchi.

What worries me is that the release date is October which means they don't have much time to fix all those awkward animations, unless the demo they showed were extremely early build.

What was that???

I am confused, scared, not sure what to think. It was a generic TPS, full of QTEs and EXTREEEEME shit going on everywhere. Bullets seemed to not have the same impact they do when the entire POINT of the RE4 formula is that every single shot matters.

RE4 and RE5 work cause they have very specific action setpieces built in small arenas to bring out different kind of shooting moments. This was just a giant linear mess of enemies and shit happening. maybe it was just a small part of the game but that is not what I look for in RE, even the new RE.

Looked very rough and moved even further away from RE4. Crosshairs, enemies barely reacting to bullets, stiff animations, no Paul Mercier as Leon, fiddly looking QTEs. Basically every single thing was worse than RE4.

It's like a Michael Bay Resident Evil game :/

That's like watching an exclusive scene of a new movie in which it's full of action, and assume the rest of the movie will have the same pace.

I hope people eat crow like they did after that Hitman trailer.

I was so, so disappointed with this - as soon as Leon jumped back and rolled with some of the roughest animations you'll see in AAA game the alarm bells were ringing. I bought into their spiel about it not being a straight up modern third person shooter but with zombies. But that's exactly what it was. There was no weight to any of the animations, the melee kills were bland... it was just so fast.

It made me appreciate RE5. And wonder if we'll ever get a game close to RE4 again.

The co-op NPC was definitely in the game with Leon, just way behind him. She popped up a few times when he slowed down (the grenade part).

Having watched it again, it just felt soulless.

The game looked terrible from both a gameplay and graphics perspective. For me it was the worst trailer of the show. If it didnt have the RE name it wouldn't have rated high enough to be at the MS conference and would have been relegated to some single booth at the back of the conference hall.

When you think of where RE used to be compared to this. When you think of what a modern RE game would be like if it was set in a mansion like RE1.

I like that it is a true 3d game now instead of having pre-rendered backgrounds. it's nice that you can finally move and shoot at the same time. but everything else about the game looks terrible. I would play it if you gave it to me for free, but probably only for the first 2 hours then I would never touch it again.

I want to take this moment to thank everyone who ever said they were ok with QTE's in games that they shouldn't be in. Thanks a lot.

Looked depressing, what happened to Leon's campaign being more survival horror?

The zombies hardly reacting to his shots was pretty funny, hope it was very early code or the game will be a joke...

That was terrible, pretty much RE5 with Leon, and after the first trailer gave me so much hope for Leon.

Didn't they say that Leon's scenario was supposed to be the survival horror focused section of the game? I hope that they just picked a more action-packed part of it for demo purposes.

It was a bad demo, but considering what they need to show at a E3 press conference I bet this was chosen because it was action packed. Wouldn't be surprised if the game is full of slow gameplay with moments like this tagged on the end of chapters. Sounds like a Japanese thing to do.

I can't watch it till I get home but was everyone actually expecting them to show something that wasn't action packed during a press conference? There's no way they'd show any of the quieter/exploration parts of the game, that stuff doesn't demo well.

Tall Oaks is when that would come into play.

We knew that Chris was gonig to be in Shang, and that it would be a war zone there. Given Leon's in that location during this Demo, it would have actually been world breaking to have it be slow and Gothic Horror.

Now if we see Tall Oaks and it's just as bad, then yeah they are full of shit. Until then though, it's hard to say.

It looks awesome, zombies and Leon are back, that's what RE is about for me. I don't care if this looks like it was directed by Michael Bay or whatever, doesn't mean the rest of the game will have this pacing.

Yep, so far I like the game as well on many things, still too many script events being used. The graphics were like seeing the Resident Evil CG movie (airport Leon), so is improved a lot better compare to Raccoon City. I enjoyed the cover system, especially the open doors events, something that I always look to see in a resident evil, a little caution before going somewhere has to exist, you know zombies are enough danger. Talking about zombies, like how they looked so far with the heads stuff Leon was doing and a little blood there and there, better than the last previous counting from RE5 until now. The city looks great so far, big buildings on far distance with lights/neons and so on.

The animation was terrible, I was shocked.

I thought that he already looked like a female in RE4, and now it felt like they ran with it (pun intended) in this one.

And I felt like I was watching a summer blockbuster movie with all of those QTE's instead of a survival horror.

Because RE4 was an amazing game, RE5 was a good game. This doesn't look that good.

Sure, RE4 was a really good game but it disappointed me greatly as an RE title and some things about RE5 were better, some things worse. This footage to me reminded me of RE2, sure it was faster paced and action packed and all that but I like the action in RE games. I thought it looked good but I'm not going to lay judgment down on just that particular demo.

It's not just the fact that it was Resident Rambo, but it looks like a bad game. The animation is fast and choppy, the shooting looks terrible, and the camera gets a little weird at times. RE5 at least looked like a high quality game.

No, it wouldn not. This is why game designers came up with fantastic environmental settings such as underground complexes and forests. It didn't have to be in the city, but it was.

RE is dead.
