[MS-Conf] Resident Evil 6 Leon Gameplay Demo - E3 2012

As said in the conference thread. I was hoping that Leon's chapters would be more traditional Resident Evil.
Now that I know it's just another Resident Evil 5, except with even more action, I can probably just safely ignore this game.

RE6, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, Uncharted, are all starting to look the fucking same.

You can kind of thank Naughty Dog for this, they are the ones that took "Cinematic Action" to a new level where you play through crazy set pieces. That's definitely influenced many devs.

All I want is to keep the mood/setting from Resident Evil games.

I don't mind the guns, controls, etc but would love if they could keep the vibe from older games in the series.

I was hoping this was going to be the Tall Oaks scenario since I knew as the characters got closer to China, it would get more action-oriented but now I'm thinking the Tall Oaks scenario would feature Leon's gameplay as the same as it is now with Capcom labeling it as "Survival Horror"

Worst part of the conference for me, looked like Beta gameplay, everything was awful, textures, animations, gameplay...

RE5 looked amazing, what happened?

If this shoot-run-explosion-shoot-run-explosion-explosion-explosion is supposed to be the survival horror part, then I don't want to know how the action part looks. Graphics look really rough and unpolished for game that's supposed to ship in a few months. And what have they done to Leon? He's so ugly now.

They're reducing my involvement in the game to a couple of button presses now and then to get the cutscenes to play.

I'd bash Capcom for this but I saw the same shit with Tomb Raider and pretty much every other non-RPG game.

I can imagine the developers at various studios around the world having this conversation.

A: "Wouldn't it be great if we could have the player crash through a window in a helicopter/fly through the trees on a parachute/land on the glass nose of a plane hanging off a cliff and put on a parachute before the glass shatters?"

B: "Sounds awesome, but how can we make sure the player does what we want?"

A: "Hmm. I guess we could make it a cutscene with QTE button presses."

Trailer looked interesting.

Then buy RE5, you'll love it because it has RE4 controls.

People didn't wanted tank like controls in RE5, and complained asking for modern controls. They bring modern controls and people still complains.

Doesn't matter what Capcom does, people is always going to complain / troll. But if they port it to WiiU the trolling is going to be reduced to 50%.

Game industry wants money. Doesn't care about anything else.

its not the CONTROLS
its the entire design of the game

What happened to the HUD? Did they turn it off for the live demo? Previous screenshots had a dead space like HUD. How do you know how many ammo/herb pills you have left?

Yeah they have changed the formula so much it's just another cover based shooter that will get lost in the crowd.

I really wonder what kind of on-disk dlc we have to pay for when this game comes out.

It was a big let-down to me. I hoped Leon's parts in Raccon City would be a bit more open, but instead it looked heavily scripted. I'm still going to play it of course, but right now my interest reached a new low.

atmospheric horror on consoles is ruined (for now).

Gonna take some ballsy Siren like project to bring it back. At least Nintendo has Fatal Frame coming to the West.

Sad stuff. :(

Needless to say I was very disappointed by the demo.

My reaction after the segment....i hope we get Revelation 2.

Leon's story is supposed to be more horror oriented, and this certainly didn't showcase that. If this is indicative of his campaign, then color me very disappointed. If this is, like, the only action sequence in his entire campaign, and the rest is horror, then I think they would have been better off if they had showed the Chris campaign instead if they wanted people to see action stuff.

That new trailer is ass too. A new action series from Capcom in an unrelated universe with these levels of production would have been amazing. I just wish they wouldn't have shoehorned all of this into Resident Evil.

Everyone is afraid of making a new IP with recycled ideas now so we get the double whammy of recycled IP AND recycled ideas. Such a shame...
So this will be, what, the 3rd or 4th time that the franchise has been ruined? That's got to be some sort of record, isn't it?
I have to be honest. The hyperbole regarding RE4 "ruining" the series was stupid in my eyes. I will never understand how that game could be maligned. Everything after RE4 is a mess though.

Like I said, I am still excited for the game. But after that QTE-laden footage, I think it is safe to say that Dragon's Dogma was Capcom's ace this year. At least for me.

I wasn't even sure what to say when Leon took cover behind a wall while zombies ran at him. What is the point?

Totally on the fence. Loved RE4, hated RE5, never played any of the other ones.

Trailers/gameplay look way too much like a mash up of all current genres into one giant...something. I can't tell if this is a mess or not.

Why does everyone hate on this game so much? Must be the hive mind mentality. I've been a big a fan of the series from day 1 and I've liked the direction it has gone. Yeah it has turned into an action franchise but it still has the characters, the story, the setting, the graphics, and awesome game play. All make for a good game.

Am I the only one on a story information blackout after watching the C-virus trailer ? I regret it.

They're spoiler-ridden.

awesome gameplay??? are you fucking kidding me?

This looked completely awful and I was actually quite excited for the game.
Same thoughts here, I thought it looked like a downgrade from RE5. Everything seemed really early, very janky animation, no real weight to anything, I'm really sort of confused as to what is going on with it. I don't mind the action-oriented game play direction, I just thought it looked bad.
