[MS-Conf] Resident Evil 6 Leon Gameplay Demo - E3 2012

I don't know why I like this game but I do. Even though I hate linear setpiece games it impressed me for some reason. I'm not happy about it though.

Guys, I know it doesn't look remotely close to being a proper horror experience, but it still looks like an amazing game. I don't even mind the QTE's. It all looks like it'll be insanely fun. I'm totally on board.

Will definitely wait for the inevitable GOTY edition that includes all the DLCs that should have been in the game to begin with though. Not day-1ing another Capcom game ever again.

That demo did absolutely nothing for me. Excitement deflated a bit until I see more. Just scripted explosions and interactions.

And I really liked RE5.

No, it wouldn not. This is why game designers came up with fantastic environmental settings such as underground complexes and forests. It didn't have to be in the city, but it was.

RE is dead.

Because Leon is going to help the BSAA. There was no reason for him to go Underground and stay there when he said the BSAA where in a building and he wanted to help them.

The whole city is a warzone, it made since given the context and location. Leon has all of Tall Oaks to be in Gothic Horror and from what little they've shown and said that is what it is. Until we see Oaks and can confirm it's action like Chris/Leon in Shang these posts are really jumping the gun.

Not impressed!

- QTEs everywhere! Like what the fuck!
- Animations looks strange, Leon moved too fast
- Some ugly textures there
- Too many over the top sequences, explosions everywhere, helicopters everywhere etc.

That whole sequence with the explosions (really now? a small jet causing so much destruction?) and the chopper was so over the top, it's like they're parodying every cinematic action sequences ever made.

Edit: Also, the co-op characters disappearing during play time makes it look like Leon is a giant asshole abandoning his partner to save his own ass :D

If you close your eyes and turn down the volume, you can pretend its a video of a true 1080P REmake with an added over-the-shoulder perspective and no co-op.

It works really well, but leaves you sad as fuck.

We don't want the release date to be brought one month forward.
Perhaps delay it for another year and polish it.

You can move and shoot at the same time. YOU CAN MOVE AND SHOOT AT THE SAME TIME.

That is enough to get me to at least check this out, it looked decent.

No game has brought out the salt like this since UMvC3. Damn that was a terrible showing.

No one is jumping the gun. A subsection of one third of the game's single player is real horror and we are supposed to be happy with that? Stop making excuses for the increasingly large doses of action that are overtaking the original horror elements that made this series what it is.

It.is.dead.

I am not impressed by it at all. Everything I was worried about (the game being too much of an action game, increased QTE etc.) turned out to be true.

Pretty sure the plane hit a tanker, might be wrong though.

I'm not surprised at the direction they are taking anymore, but there was something very unspectacular about the gameplay. Some of the scripted events looked alright for what they are going for, but it just didn't look like the combat was any good.

Even as an action game it looks clunky as shit and I didn't see anything there I haven't seen before and executed better.

Agreed, I know people looking for more traditional horror will be unimpressed, but still.

There is no excuses because none need to be made. If it is dead then ti is dead to you, and maybe others. Many people love action and have enjoyed the action in both RE4 and 5.

We've known that a large portion of the game was going to be action, and while it's disappointing that some bleed over to Leon's section, I'm not going to write it off because they kept the world consistent.

Terrible animation, huge amount of QTE's, retaded explosions? Sure, I will slam it and agree with those thoughts, saying it's completely Action because Leon is on his way to meet Chris in a warzone? No, that is jumping the gun when we have no idea how long this section compared to the Tall Oaks segment.

watching it as a COD wannabe action shooter game, i smh after seeing 2 QTEs in such a short time period, then seeing more and more of them. I am definitely not impressed.

I consider myself an RE purist and I still enjoyed the trailer. Yes it was a little janky and fast at times but I still felt it looked more interesting then RE4 or RE5. I like the return of the city crisis surrounded by death and destruction. And when Capcom says there going to return to their survival horror roots, keep your expectations in check. Think more like Revelations.

And I don't understand the QTE hate revelation. Everybody loved them in RE4 and RE5. I hate them but I'm certainly not surprised.

Yeah, I can see why RE fans are upset. But the changes appeal to me more than any RE i've seen in the past. They need to polish it up, but I liked what I saw.

I'm still holding out hope for the "horror" chills the leon campaign might bring.

Why ?

When you have 5 minutes to showcase a game, you're going to put in as many dynamic elements as you can.

You don't have time to build up tension/atmosphere, which is what the horror genre requires.

I think the over-the-top action sequences chained one after the other are just for this E3 demo level.

Trailer looked interesting.

Dear god...

EDIT: I don't want RE or RE2 type gameplay, but I do want RE4 type gameplay. :(
Then buy RE5, you'll love it because it has RE4 controls.

People didn't wanted tank like controls in RE5, and complained asking for modern controls. They bring modern controls and people still complains.

Doesn't matter what Capcom does, people is always going to complain / troll. But if they port it to WiiU the trolling is going to be reduced to 50%.
