Holy crap thank you! I wonder if that pedestrian reaction was dynamic or scripted

I love that this game takes place in Chicago, at least partially. It'll be interesting to see how they replicate the atmosphere as well as the architecture. As a Chi native, I'm quite intrigued.

Chicago is far, far underused as a location for games. I'm excited for that aspect too, as it's one of the cities I know the best, outside of cities I've lived in.

This game is game of the show, no doubt. Incredible showing, came out of no where.

The amazing thing about this game is that the visuals aren't insane. Don't get me wrong, it does looks real good. But, the impressive parts are the animation, the physics of objects and clothing, and lighting/atmosphere, and the gameplay options. I can't help but get the impression there is so much going on behind the scenes than what the players actually see and that is what impresses me. It is all about the details, not necessarily the texture details, but the real world details such as a car's light turning on or off.

I like how in this thread we know EXACTLY what the Wii U is capable of graphically. So it's not for the Wii U, that means nothing really.

What we do know is that it can't possibly look that good on PS3/360. Game looks fucking amazing. I do not think I've been that enthralled with a gameplay demo in quite some time.

Sorry but I know what's possible and what not... this is definitely not possible on current gen consoles. I know it's pretty much the end of the console cycle but I very much doubt that they squeezed another 100% out of them... NO WAY!

Sherlock, you just said you thought it needed 2 x 690s which was the part I referred to - Not fucking consoles.

"I even doubt a state of the art gaming PC could do this (maybe with 2xGeForce GTX 690)" Dumbest statement of the evening.

Really, people shitting on how this looks?

I actually hope this is next-gen, as they would have to sacrifice quite a bit to get that kind of visuals on a current-gen console.

i don't know what to think anymore other than, i'll buy on PC if true.

given the concept, i'd love to see this working with the wiiu gamepad... ah, dreams :o

PCs demolish consoles. The quality of the lighting and the character detail is beyond any game on the PS360.

The animation was the most impressive part for me tho, it was almost perfect.

Yeah, when the shoot out started and he pulled that civilian out of the car and told him to run, that was all waaaaaay to fucking smooth for me to believe that this is running on the machines I have in my living room.

I expect we'll see a generation-bridging release on this. We know for sure now that it's running on current-gen, but it's also clear enough that the 360 and PS3 could not do it justice. I think we'll see a current-gen version and a next-gen version on par with what they've got running on PC. Wouldn't be the first time Ubisoft did that.

While watching the stream I really didn't want him to pull out a gun and start shooting, boy but when he does it's like a fucking cannon, amazing sound design.

I don't normally go with "all over my face" but good lord. The crash, then at the end with the random civilian with an umbrella running up to check on one of the crashed cars....wow.

Even if the crash is somewhat scripted, if this is just one of many options to tackle your objective I'm duly impressed. If this is the only way to complete your objective I'm less impressed but still pretty damn intrigued overall.

This is better than movies. I don't even want to play it, I just want to watch the developer play it from start to finish in one sitting. Fuck.

It's not just visuals, conceptually it also looks really cool. Seems a mix of Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed while doing its own thing at the same time.

This is most likely what early next gen games will look like. Except at a lower resolution and at 30 fps.

I'm just guessing, but I would assume that the PC version was running at 1080p and 60 fps.
Yeah, I couldn't really believe what I was seeing. My first reaction was "wtf" before the realization set in. I agree that the concept looks interesting; there is just too many things about this game that will take a while for the brain to process. It's a shocker and that too from Ubisoft. Totally redeemed this E3.

If this is really for this gen, there's no way a WiiU version is not coming. The hacking stuff seems perfect for the controller.

Cause car crash save lives.

That's rubbed me the wrong way.

More games need solid walking.

It striked a chord with me, but not in the wrong way at all. In a time of hackers seeing themselves as freedom fighters, this is the kind of exaggeration of reality that I felt really in touch with whatever crazy zeitgeist we are living.
This is a guy who acquired tremendous power through technology and said to himself: "I'll do whateve for the greater good!"
I am very anxious to see how he deals with the innocent bystanders, even if he doesn't care about them, still says a lot about this very contemporary archetype.

Chicago is far, far underused as a location for games. I'm excited for that aspect too, as it's one of the cities I know the best, outside of cities I've lived in.

I agree with that entirely. There's something about the general ideology in Chicago that makes it such a truly unique metropolitan area. The gap between rich and poor is so pronounced and evident at every turn. The citizens of Chicago develop strong senses of humility and community as a result.

As far as the protagonist causing a car crash, getting that dude's wife (presumably) killed and then rescuing him goes: I think that's the point of the character. They advertise him as an anti-hero and reinforce that with the clip; he does what he believes needs to be done in order to accomplish his goals. He started that pileup because he believed he had to, then saved the man because the opportunity presented itself. Not quite heartless, but not quite angelic, either.

Hmmm. Looks too good to be current gen.. Open world sandbox games tend to not carry that level of fidelity..

Either that, or Wii U really is a powerful machine. Even for PC, that looks stunning.

well it was played with a wired 360 controller( so it was running on a PC most likely or 360)

Ubi deserves the respect this E3.

They killed MS Conference really easy and fast and they were humble. Shame on that dirt mouth of that Beyonce + the kid from Juno that were presenting the conference.

oh my god.

This game looks insane. I've never really liked ubisoft's games, but this is like the a mixture of splinter cell and ass creed and ghost recon put together. Put together very well.

Excited for next gen now.

Not next gen, coming to PS3 and 360.

I mean it looks like Ubisoft equivalent of GTAV if they spent the same amount of money & time on their own franchise.
The most advanced feature that looked next gen was the cloth physics & even that could be done this gen.

I mean as hard it is to believe, but the really cool looking wet road reflecting the lights & objects was done in GT3 on the PS2 half a decade ago. It's not a PC Ultra settings/nextgen-like only feature.

Don't know if it was already posted:
Look at the source code of the viral/teaser site (the one which is looking like the page of the club). There is reference to a video (video/*.mp4). Just add it to the link of the teaser site and you'll download a video of the club owner.

Sorry, that I cannot provide the exact link, but I forgot the title of the video and I'm on my mobile right now :(

There's literally no way this is coming out this generation. Not just visually - the timing of the announcement (and the lack of anything even close to a release date. Or even window.) means we will not see this on store shelves until late 2013 at the latest. The fact it was being played on PC suggests it may still be in development, shit - 2014 might be a more fair estimate.

Would you release a massive new 360 game on the precipice of a new console?
NO.
This is next gen.

Game of E3 so far. This is what next-gen is all about.

At least the PC version, don't know about 360 or PS3.

Hmmm. Looks too good to be current gen.. Open world sandbox games tend to not carry that level of fidelity..

It's already been confirmed in this thread and by Eurogamer to be PS3/X360/PC.

He showed where he worked when he did an internet speed test and posted it in a thread.

Yep, thanks!

Ubisoft says it's coming for PC, 360 and PS3.

I hope we will hear a WiiU announcement at the end of the year.

I guess Watch Dogs will release in November 2013.

Does look great, gameplay looks really interesting, just like the whole concept and art style, the way it was directed all top notch, great way to show off a game, Ubisoft just take my money!

Ubisoft saved the show for me so far with Rayman, Assasin's Creed 3 and Watch Dogs.

This is my game of the show so far. Nintendo or Sony is going to have to pull something pretty special out to top this. In fact, my top 5 of show so far are:

1. Watch_Dogs
2. Far Cry 3
3. Assassin's Creed 3
4. Halo 4
5. Rayman Legends

Who would of thought a week ago that Ubi-Soft was to going to show out like it did.....

I missed it as well. The Ubisoft youtube version doesn't have the multiplayer bit though. Strange.

I didn't see that bit that clearly, but was that even multiplayer? Looked more like multiple playable characters to me, making the hacker dude not the main character.

If it is a glimpse of next gen gaming then count me disappointed.

Game looks like a small/decent step up from GTA V. Not a generational gap between it.

Your expectations of next-gen are too high. The early next-gen stuff will probably mostly look like the late-generation current games, except at better resolutions/framerate.

hype trains will be derailed when people realise early next gen graphics wont even look that good

This.
