Does PS Vita exist / Lack of Vita games at E3

Honestly, i don't know what Sony is thinking with the vita. It's like the embodiment of Sony's mismanagement. Who thought it was a good idea?

I will never understand it. A company strapped for cash, in a market where (yes folks) it has to compete with an iPAD, iPhone, kindle Fire and 3DS....

ALL R&D should have gone toward making sure the PS4 had more powerful hardware and a great set of launch titles. Hell...use the Vita R&D to purchase one year exclusivity for a next generation Red Dead.

Grrrr....stupid, Sony is stupid.

On the other hand, they probably just need more time. And it's hard getting third parties on board when the sales are not going very well. I get that. But what worries me the most, is that they're not even trying to make people feel that "it's going to be alright". I'm afraid that, when the big titles finally drop, it might be too late.

I can understand third parties being hesitant to support a system on life support, but where was the first party stuff? Sony announced only one first party title (PS All-Stars) and it's a hand-me-down port of a PS3 game.

They swept Vita under the rug at the conference and it's only a few months old.

There is a twist...

The gameplay works quite differently from SSB. Instead of trying to knock players off the map or into an abyss below you are building up super attacks to destroy players with.

While it is different I do not think I like it better. The fight to make it back to the ledge in SSB was one of my favorite parts. There is a lot of strategy with this mechanic in SSB

Exactly. This copy cat looks dull without that. Building up Supers seems so boring.

The Zodiac also had a bunch of emulators, which is what the Vita will be good for, I guess.

It also plays PSP games in high-resolution. You have to buy them again, but DAMN.

Any consideration guys, the PSP is more alive than the Vita thanks to Atlus. Gungnir and Growlanser, bitches.

Ah yes how can I forget. The Saturn at least sold decent in one region.

Maybe it could be the Dreamcast then? But wait the Dreamcast was known for having tons of great games during its sort lifespan. Hmm....

It is (insert any game system here) if all you got were the games at launch.

The PS1 classics announcement reminds me of the famous "Riiiiiiiiiiiiidge Racer!"...

So sad for the owners but I saw the signs...

Vita doesn't exist until Gamescom and TGS conferences it seems. I think Sony have done enough and announced enough for now. There are plenty of games whether people like them or not, and one announced in the blog every other day.

And not one of those announced games will move enough hardware to make Vita a commercially viable platform for third parties.

No one disputes that there are good games for Vita and more coming, but the system is in bigger trouble than any new platform in recent memory. Anyone who can deny that is engaging in some serious wishful thinking.

Assassin's Creed bundle looks great, a nice excuse to get the PSVita, just in time for Persona 4, and I'll add Gravity Rush to the equation, get it?

I have a weird appreciation for PSP after watching that press conference. I know it's only four months in but at least it seemed like it had some hope. Interesting, unique games came out for it. Vita at four months feels more dead than PSP at four years did.

Hopefully when e3 proper opens we have some good announcements. Ugh.

Sony hasn't learned anything from the PSP and repeated the same mistakes with the Vital. We waited for E3 and now we have to wait till TGS to see if there's anything? This just makes me so angry that they didn't acknowledge there was anything wrong with it.

LBP saves vita for me, since I love making lbp levels.

but yeah, where the fuck are the first party titleS?

most stores have return policies, unless you happened to have found a good craigslist deal.

That's exactly what I did. Should soften the blow if it goes under. Got a 3g system with 16 gig card like new for $200.

Hardware seems so awesome, I will be pretty sad if it dies off. Sad enough that it would be pretty hard for me to buy another Sony system again.

Not even close to enough. Not even in the ballpark of enough.

I still want my demo roll of upcoming games.

They announced Bioshock when it didn't exist. I wouldn't be getting my hopes up. If they had anything they would have been shouting from the rooftops.

Before the conference I was excited to see new Vita games and strongly considering buying a Vita within the next few weeks.

Now I'm not.

With this news, I reckon I'll get one on the cheap. Wipeout and Lumines are too good to pass up. Hopefully busting it open (unsigned code-wise) will happen quicker, too. Only problem is with the official memory cards.

Yeah. There's a reason you don't run Sony.

Neither do the 25,000 employees they've laid off over the past 10 years due to the poor economy, bad luck and poor business decisions.

Yeah..THAT company I'd want to be running. The one scraping and clawing to find an identity to lead them into the future. OK.

Remember when Gran Turismo was first announced for the PSP? How long did it take for them to get that title out?

This generation Sony has made blatantly bad business decisions. Fortunately they had the previous generation to subsidize those failures.

Dad? What's Vita?

"Sally, there was this musical artist in the mid 90s named Ricky Martin. Oh wait, you said Vita."

Can't believe how the Vita was handled. Still shocked.

I expected the bare minimum and it was far worse than that.

Where is FF Type-0?

I don't know if I just had high expectations, but I'm disappointed that the Vita is just getting portable versions of big franchises, instead of just ports of the actual game.

If Sony really wanted to sell the Vita, games like Assassins Creed III and Call of Duty would be direct ports of the console games, with cross platform play.

Think I'll be selling my Vita now while it still has some value to it, I waited for E3 hoping for something to convince me otherwise but nothing.

I'm still going to keep my Vita, but this conference was really disappointing (and then one of my memory sticks for my PSP crapped out about the same time).

Actually Vita being the Dreamcast isn't that bad of an analogy, though Vita certainly didn't break any launch records.

At the rate its going though it could probably match its lifespan...

Your subjective opinions of the meager lineup aside, there is absolutely nothing here that will affect the market failure of the Vita in any way. Maybe you are satisfied, but this is not enough to save the sinking ship.

But feel free to tell everybody in this thread why they're wrong because boy that CoD logo just looked spectacular.

Yeah come on guys. Just wait until TGS. And then if nothing gets announced then just wait until E3 2013. And if nothing gets announced then just wait until E3 2014.

A disorienting showing butbselling your Vita off right away is an overreaction IMO. I've always regretted selling off a game system.

I love my Zodiacs. They're retired now, but resting comfortably in a drawer. I used them daily until about 2009. Best palm ever.

:`)

edit: Doomed to failure. It's interesting to watch the company that sealed Tapwave's fate repeat it errors time and again.

$75.

Craigslist it. Sold mine for $220.

damn, I could only get $150 out of mine... but oh well, did some more useful things with that cash, like, I bought a new vacuum cleaner.

seriously, what a disappointment. and I was actually worried that the conference would make me regret selling it.
