Giant Bomb E3 2012

Jeff said he wasn't as thrilled as everybody else and they all kinda took it as a cue to move on. Disappointing, since this game looks amazing imo.
And it's why more and more I look to jeff's opinion on games. Don't see the hype yet myself. Hopefully it'll be cool, but need to see a lot more than a perfectly setup demo scenario to be convinced of its appeal.

Also I wish they'd use Ustream, only for the fact that you can watch the archived videos on the iPhone and iPad app directly.

To be honest I feel the same could be said for BioShock Infinite's previews. However this coming from someone who didn't like BioShock so I need more to be impressed (given those doubts).

:lol at Vinny not actually adding anything to Ryan's hands in the intro. I can't catch these live because they're in the middle of the night for me so I'm apathetically running them through the day.

Jesus christ first half of this thread was cranky as hell.

Catching up with the cast now to see why everyone was so cranky.

Cast started really late causing some crankiness then just the general tone of the whole thing was somewhat meh. Then they got distracted for like an hour

It's kind of low key so far, but I'm enjoying it.

Might be because that the mic levels are really low.

Brad speaks loudly and clearly into the microphone he intentionally holds at an appropriate distance from his mouth, while Pachter, next to him, is mumbling into a mic he's waving around as if it were a fucking Playstation Move (TM). At the loudest possible setting for my laptop's volume, Pachter isn't audible. And Brad is loud.

auto-volume helps a bit, if you have something like that.

Not having to hear Pachter sounds like a bonus to me.

I know it's blasphemous to say it on here, but I think I like Mr Pachter. Not saying I agree with some of the stuff he says, but I like his attitude to it all. I'm 10 mins into to his appearance on the show tonight, so maybe my opinion will change. He seems slef-aware and deprecating enough that I'm ok with him.

I trust the GB guys enough that if he was a complete douchebag, they wouldn't keep having him back on.

Also, I agree with his view on Nintendo.

Like I said above, I'm with you man. Patcher is great.

I'm increasingly convinced that he, at the very least, believes himself.

And it's not like he tries to weasel his way out of predictions. So, really, whatever.

Will there be a audio version of tonights shinanigans, or will it be video only? I get off work in a few hours and would love something to listen to on the way home.

So they didn't test anything, started late, lost Sessler because of this, stream was stuttering the whole time, people were negative and didn't want to talk about big releases, and there haven't been any videos outside of trailers updated to the site.

Those tricasters are a real bitch.

The 38 Studios talk between mostly Alex and Pachter felt pretty interesting. I'm not usually one to like what... well, either of them does.

Anyone else hope one of the others calls Jeff out on his Last of Us comments with two guys being a big deal? Didn't seem like a big deal in the stage demo...

Sure its not COD and I'm sure the action was ramped up for the demo but don't push PR bullshit on the podcast just because it sounds good on paper or its what you want to hear

Anyway, can't wait for the podcast. Sucks to see it wasn't a great classic E3 episode

Wow, I'm catching up on last night's stream and Patcher loves railing on Nintendo. 3DS and WiiU will sell half of their predecessors?

Pachter is great the two times a year I'm aware of him (bombcasts basically)

I imagine people incapable of ignoring gaf threads and his gametrailers show would get sick of him from over exposure though

Comparing SmartGlass to Wii U seems silly, sure the tech is similar but the reality of 360/720 devs bothering to integrate that shit is slim to none. No-one cares.

Prepare to have your mind fuckin' blown.

That looked real pretty, and it was impressive the first time i pushed up on the stick through a cool set piece like that, but it feels like I'm starting to get diminishing returns at this point. I'm doing the exact same thing in all these games, it's just the scenery that changes.

There's never a sense of danger or challenge which feels like it would be appropriate during those insane deathdefying scenes. Suppose it's better to make it a cakewalk than rageinducing trial and error, but can't there be a middleground? I'm not a game designer so I don't know. All I know is those scenes don't feel as exciting as they should.

What else they've shown of the game looks much the same. Stuff you're already done a bunch in other games, just in a quite visually impressive package.

Also that was running on a high-end PC apparently, so I'm not expecting it's gonna look and run that good on my PC even, which has a 570 and stuff. It does make me want to upgrade next year though.

Anyway, what's going on in this thread? Guess sleeping made me miss a stuttery livestream or something.

Pachter rules, and he's so right on about that Wii U Rayman demo. The fuck do I need a television for if all I'm doing is looking at a 6 inch screen and tapping shit?
