[MS-Conf] Forza Horizon - E3 2012 trailer

Can you imagine how incredible it is going to be to take the Audi S1 or Monster's Suzuki (both from FM4) up Pikes Peak? It is going to be glorious!

We saw a small number of cars on the road, from the Aston Martins, Ferraris, Vipers, and Skylines we were racing against to the pedestrian Priuses, PT Cruisers, and Volkswagen Beetles we sped by on our way to victory (OK, third place).

Not that i had doubt but some did.

I hope they bring some of he SUV's over I wanna put the if you see it you can drive to it quote to the test.

these aren't the same guys who told us about how hard and thrilling it was to drive in the middle of the night in FM4 when you could only rely on other car's tail lights to see where the road was, right ?

its built on top of the fm4 famework. it looks like forza and most importantly, handles like forza with the same physics system underneath only improved. thats more than enough for me to at least be interested...

See, that's the key, really. People are grumbling about this saying it's just another NFS. Forza is "selling out", etc.

No, it's definitely not. There's a BIG difference. IMO, most open world NFS games handle like crap. I know, I know, arcade handling, set up to drift around every turn, but I'm just being honest.

And this shouldn't. At all. It should handle worlds better, probably somewhat similar to FM4, with great looking cockpits and a nice car list in an beautiful open environment. That sounds fantastic.

i do wish someone would ask dan, or another rep at e3, if horizon can be played in a manor similar to fm4 with no assists though. there is still a bit of ambiguity with what changes (if any) have been made to the physics and handling.

for sure. i'm not convinced its in the game officially, but i have little doubt it will be in in some form one way or another

Oh yeah forgot about ole IGNorant

apart from that, i don't see why Ferrari wouldn't be in (because they lent their license to EA for Porsche's ?) but it's one of those brands you just take for granted when talking about racing cars, so i wouldn't be surprised if they just threw the name there without having actually seen one in the game

Great demo from ISR. The more I hear about Horizon, the better it sounds.

The handling was a concern, given the memories of the floaty, central-pivot garbage that plagued TDU1, but Horzion looks like it makes good use of Forza's physics to put that fear to rest. I don't care if it's been streamlined and somewhat watered-down in the name of accessibility-- for a game like this, as long as the handling is predictable and provides decent feedback, we're good. Leave the hardcore sim-style for the Forza Motorsport titles.

The team at Playground seems to get it. I think this game is in good hands.

BADNED has updated Forzacentral's WIP Horizon car list with these cars:

Ferrari
2009 California

And there we have it: confirmation of Ferrari. Not that there was any real doubt. Though to be honest, I wouldn't have minded if the California had decided to stay at home.

My hype for this its on cautious just because while there's potential it can really crash and burn. I'm disappointed by lack of 60fps

I am only a little disappointed, mainly because I knew that the chances of it retaining 60fps were pretty slim. Open world with full Forza 4 car models and phsyics seems a lot more than the 360 can handle at 60fps.

OK, so this game has:

* 65! driving surfaces
* Day/Night cycle
* Cockpit views
* Forza Physics
* Rivals Mode
* Photo Mode
* Open world Colorado (desert plains, oak and pine forests, mountains, festival, urban, etc)

Hype at maximum.

added some and yes sir!

Dont get your hopes up too much here. When they say 'improved', they just mean tweaked so that cars handle ok on non-asphalt surfaces. Overall, from the gameplay, its pretty clear that the handling is a step down in terms of 'sim'-ness. Which is fine and what many people are expecting, but there's going to inevitably be those who get the wrong idea.

OK, true true :)

I was mostly pointing out the things that had me worried or that I hadn't seen confirmed. Day/Night was mentioned earlier on but it was nice to see it in action. And I did get a flash of cockpit view so I'm now ready to go.

And rivals mode too? Yesss.

As said before, videos had all assists turned on. Play FM4 with those and you'll see that cars behave completely different than with everything off. Hopefully, we'll get more "Under the hood" segments on FM.net for Forza Horizon, detailing the additions/modifications made to the physics engine.

Pink Slips, really? Where did you read this? Because this would be freakin amazing for MP. I would love to be able to take people's super expensive cars, or even unicorns, from them!

First time I've seen rewind as an option too. (at 2:06)

And Horizon looks for Forza 3 and 4 savegames to unlocks vehicles as a reward. Nice.

Nice! I was hoping for something like this. I also want more information about the "barn finds."

those tree covered hills in the background look pretty, just knowing you'd most likely be able to actually go there gives me goosebumps :D

EDIT: Oh God you can smash into picnic tables....neat

i am aware that the improvements were made to more surface types which is why i also posted "i do wish someone would ask dan, or another rep at e3, if horizon can be played in a manor similar to fm4 with no assists though. there is still a bit of ambiguity with what changes (if any) have been made to the physics and handling."

Ohh nice so you can turn off all assits still. Cool video.

oh? sweet!

also, racing line is in (not that i care)

"if you are an expert on these racing sims, you can knock off all those assists and have as an authentic and realistic simulation as you like."

SOLD

Would pay for snow DLC.

In fact, given the expanse of roads and driving conditions in this open world I'm guessing I'll end up buying more car packs for Horizon than Forza Motorsport. More ways to drive means more appreciation for variety in car selection. That and I won't have to botch about a lack of tracks or autovista cars in Horizon packs.

they have confirmed snow, i'd imagine you have to drive way up into the mountains to get to it though ;)

man, if this really does drive like fm4 with no assists, i could play this forever.

I thought snow was already confirmed?

null, lets just cruise around playing "follow the leader" throughout horizon till the end of time <3

My feelings for this were luke warm. But after watching more video content on it I'm getting really pumped for this game. Shame about the 30fps, but totally understandable considering how much it's doing. Owning a kinect, I could see myself using the gps functions. Now to wait for the full car list for this game. Will it be huge like Forza 4 or will it be a more paired down list? I don't think they've announced anything on that front, right?
