Giant Bomb E3 2012

It's nearing the end of the generation but they haven't started talking about the next (or seems afraid to). This is the kind of E3 you get in this situation.

At least Alex was into Nintendo

We really didn't last time, though. 2004 was a huge year for gaming, and by 2005 they had already started talking about the next consoles. We've never had this kind of total dead zone before.

This long cycle is really biting us in the ass.

MS had reason to get out of the last gen, this time around neither Sony nor MS need or want to get out.

It's biting E3 in the ass but I think we have still been getting some great games.

I'm more excited for what they have to say about stuff they find in the show floor. In any case pessimistic, tired, and apathetic Giant Bomb doesn't make for good content. Whenever that flavor of Giant Bomb pops up I regret paying them at some point. It is too bad we rarely get to see Vinny on these.

can anyone tell me how long that is till the gamespot thing? In hours etc

LOL, I'm watching Pachter's "tirade" and he's been on point so far. Especially about the extremes about how good and bad the pressers have been.

Finally getting a chance to watch last night's broadcast.

I love Pachter. He doesn't have to give a shit about publishers blocking him out and it shows.

Yeah, I like Pachter too. I can understand why what he says can push some people's buttons so strongly, but I genuinely like hearing him on the podcasts.

Somebody needs to cut the Gears of War buildup discussion they have at the beginning of today's podcast lol. This is one of the funniest thing I heard in a long time.

I haven't considered the Xbox 720 becoming the cable box subsidized by Comcast, but I'm not sure how that would benefit Comcast unless Microsoft pays them a lot of money or the consoles/appletv/roku boxes cause the amount of cable subscribers to really drop

Because they spend alot of money for their hardware boxes to rent it out to you and have to continually deal with all the hardware issues and the liberal swap out policy (hardware failures are very high on those boxes for many reasons).... if they let you use your xbox (or ipad/roku) they could reduce the number of boxes they need to purchase with no detriment to them because you would still have to have cable to get the channels on your app.

I also like the pach perspective.... all game journalists (for the most part) have similar perspectives on the industry so its refreshing to get a completely different one.

Yup, definitely in the camp that agrees with Pachter at this point. He's stepped on people's toes but makes some pretty solid points about both the casual market and mmo space. People tend to forget that hes main job is analyzing company financials and creating reports, there's a reason why he still has his job at Webush Morgan. I'm not quite sure whether that 2 year prediction on the new 360 console is correct but it is a possibility (MS is testing the waters already with the 360 at MS stores). As smartphones have shown us, many Americans are more than willing to sign 2 year contracts to get hardware subsidies. While this type of plan is not aimed at the hardcore audiences, I can picture parents willing to get a subsidized console for their kids to reduce entry costs.

Although he did dominate the conversation a bit too much, I definitely find his inputs interesting, it adds a different perspective that game journalist don't necessarily have.

for someone who thinks so little of neogaf, pachter sure does like to mention it. a lot.

let it go dude. you make more money than 90% of us ever will.

I don't always agree with someone, but when I do it typically involves critique of the inane defensiveness certain groups demonstrate to their 'cause.'

Pachter needs to get DMX to do his intro song. DMX should be available right?
Holy shit. Wiki says DMX has a new album coming out June 26th IN STORES NEAR YOU. WHAT! *smash cuts and shouting* (parody the parody)

Their pre-E3 podcast is, despite being really outdated and wrong about everything, really entertaining. And also sort of disappointing because they were predicting a Gears of War live demo, lots of Vita games and live demos and Miyamoto demoing a new Zelda.

We were all dreaming like that.

I was going to mock them for keeping the "6/6 E3 2012: Day 1 Live Bombcast!" event up but that's now. Can't wait to see what crazy things the system does when there's no event planned. "0/0: MISSINGNO."
