The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Actually, there's only one. I think that over-the-shoulder stuff looks like shit. So I decreed that we weren't going to do any more of them past the launch window. When (if?) we get our hands on hardware that lets us capture proper Vita footage, we'll dedicate more time to Vita coverage. Producing crappy-looking videos that don't convey what the games really look like doesn't do anyone any good.

I also love the idea that there's some shadow force of "bosses" that give a shit about things like video quality. Like someone would come to me and say "hey, that video you ran last week, the camera was a little too shaky for my tastes!" Hilarious.

Those who would increase resolution without increasing bitrate to match are bound to the Loom of Fate for all eternity.

Listening to Ryan and Patrick pretending to laugh at written jokes they are reading out was Quick Look poison. Game looks fun but sitting through that wore thin by the 5 minute mark.

Yeah I couldnt get past the opening scene. Listening to people in a video read aloud rpg text is jut not my cup of tea.

The game looks cool, though. Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII were pretty neat and so were the PA Adventures. Looks like this mix works, too.

It may just be me, but Ryan and Patrick found the PA game waaaaaay funnier than I did. I mean, there were a couple of lines that made me smirk, but Ryan and Patrick were just busting a gut over and over.

Not really a critique; I just find it interesting how different their sense of humor must be from mine.

Edit: Like openly laughing at "mime-o-pus"? That's literally the least creative name I can think of. Like I said, there are some good jokes out there, but that one's pretty sub-par.

Pretty much this, though I didn't think it was quite that grating.

I'm thoroughly disappointed by the direction the Dirt franchise is taking. Although I know Showdown is not supposed to be part of the Core franchise, but still Dirt 3 was a massive disappointment already and this is even worse.

Edit: The first track is literally a straight with two turns at each end.

wow, the music is fantastic! does this mean I have to play Ep 2 for the story/references? I only played the first one.
That's what I was thinking. Fuckin' great music in there.

And I'm wondering that also. Never played the second game, would love to pick this up, though.

The Penny-Arcade guys say that the game comes with an opening video that should bring you up to speed on everything that happened in the last two episodes. Time to get a look at that quick look.

Am I looking at a molecular diagram here.

I come from an advanced civilization. We are spacefaring people and know how to capture Vita footage. We've also solved the problem of magic support beams to hold mirrors and camera phones.

(Clamps? Iunno)

Doesn't that assume that the person holding the vita wouldn't have any handshakes or move the vita at all while holding it?

I dunno, seems like alot of trouble for off screen footage.

They shouldn't' bother wasting their own time if Sony is going to make a simple solution difficult. Sony should just play ball on this, its completely absurd that they don't offer direct video out.

That solution looks perfectly reasonable.

If they really want to get vita footage sure. If I have to do it I would get a custom fitted clamp for the vita which will hold it on a table at a comfortable height that won't move around at all, a mirror that fits the vita's screen perfectly, and then a properly lighted studio so that the colours won't be washed out or create any glares on the vita's screen.

For them I would guess them that doing such a thing would not be reasonable for what they can do, and that a unit with video out would be even more reasonable.

Watch the QL again, let that menu really sink in this time.

The race Ryan's selecting is in the first difficulty thing but clearly in the second tier of events.
This still doesn't change a thing about me not desiring a straight-turn-straight-turn track in a Dirt game.
