No way is ChrisG dropping Morrigan. He has a huge leg up on the meta game because of that character, a lot of players still don't know that match up well. He will be switching among Vergil/Akuma/Hawkeye for the 3rd character while retaining the Morrigan/Doom shell.

Dieminion will not get too far with Zero May Cry. I think Dieminion will get far playing on defensive Zero because that shit is really hard to beat and easy to play but once he loses Zero his Vergil and Dante are going to die fast as well if they don't have a lot of meter. His original team is much better at dealing with "random" stuff and by random I mean players just pressing button and bull dozing their way in with Wolverine/Wesker etc. Not going to work with Joe throwing Boomerangs and Strange covering the screen. He too has a leg up on the meta game but he just needs to learn the Zero/Vergil match ups.

EC (and more importantly the NY scene) fell behind the meta game yet again because they didn't have top Zero, Vergil and Strider players in their scene just like they didn't have top Phoenix and Wolverine players in Vanilla. They are feeling the heat now and it's a bit too late to pick up those characters if you have never played them before. They also don't have the match up knowledge on the character and they let a character like Vergil get away with so much stuff it's almost criminal.

I dont read these threads much but does Alstien normally just say random crap? lol

KOFXIII got big because we streamed the arcade version for six months before the game's release, bringing in thousands of viewers with each broadcast. The SoCal vs NorCal 5 on 5's we held at Southtown helped a lot, not to mention that there was already a community of folks super thirsty for the console version of the game. From SCR on the game just continued to get more exposure and people became more familiar with the players.

While Capcom's missteps might have had people looking elsewhere for something to play, if you look at who was and is still playing it, it's mostly KOF heads. There still isnt a lot of cross over so it's not like the game blew up because everyone is jumping ship from SF4 or whatever.

Was checking out the BrokenTier stream and I got some tidbits I wanna share with you guys:

- Koogy is working with CC on an UMVC3 special that will have all of the members from BT doing sets with each other while giving out commentary and tips on how they play.
- Koogy will have a very special announcement of some sort at EVO. Maybe another player will join the ranks?
- New line of shirts. Including 3 shirts from CC.

Also, previews!

Where are you coming from? :O

Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Coming to the US from Canada doesn't seem that far, but it's almost polar opposites of the countries. So it makes for a long travel. I'm expecting to go 0-2, which would be better than how I did last year!

So Vancouver actually has a small but growing FGC up here.

We have about 2 monthly tournies and one weekly that I could find and they stream them all!

Might have to check them out once i'm not a free win anymore haha.

CCG Air participates sometimes.

I updated the OP with SKILLIONAIRE (7PM EDT) and St1ckBuG (Sat 12PM EDT), and yes, Judderman has the right channel, that's Rithli's.

Any websites for Vancouver stuff? I'll be in town this weekend before heading over to Victoria.

There wasn't really a website they just post on srk.

Street Brawl Vancouver does have a FB page though. It's coming up on the 30th.

CvS2 is the fighting game I regret not being aware of back when it was "relevant".

The game looks great and has a fantastic soundtrack to go with it.

Justin Wong doing so much unsafe stuff with Vergil and getting rightfully punished for it. This is exactly why I have been saying Spencer vs Vergil, Spencer has the edge. He is always there to punish Vergil when he does anything that isn't air tight. I say the same for Viper only more so, she can totally beast on Vergil with some proper reads.

Raw Helm Breakers punished by Zip Lines, whiffed Stingers punished by Tatsu assist into full combo, Teleports run into Sentinel Drones and unsafe block strings during Spiral Swords blown up by Bionic Arm. All Knives needs to do is watch that Helm Breaker and chicken guard it into a punishment.

And just as I was writing that post... Knives cornered Vergil into Zip Line pressure, baited out the Helm Breaker and then Up Grappled him. Too bad he didn't kill him off of it and ended up losing Spencer but his Akuma punished an unsafe block string with the Shoryuken Hyper into XF for the kill.

THIS is what I want to see more of. Vergil gets away with a lot of stuff in competitive play due to being a new character and the scene has to figure him out like they figured out Wesker.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I want bad Vergil play to be punished and exposed. That way the Vergil players can get better and develop more solid play and strategies. I want the character to be pushed to his limits so when Capcom does decide to balance him it's fair and not just dumb knee jerk reaction changes.

Knives just stomped through all of Floe's team.

Any sophisticated person wants the weaknesses of their character to be exposed so it pushes the people who use that character to higher levels of play.
EXACTLY!

I am especially interested in seeing the Americans interact with Japanese Vergil play. I want to see FChamp tackle their Vergils because I know he has that match up in the bag but that's against American Vergils.

Yipes stated on stream that he and Mago played for 7 hours straight. Said only his Zero is actually good and that he has been teaching him Dante/Vergil aka the sons of Sparda.

Going to try to ask him about the Vergil tech.

Mago has been in America too long. He's becoming far more demonstrative in how he expresses his salt. Even wanted that salty runback.
