NINTENDO MADE SONIC GAME CONFIRMED!

The current 3DS library is easily as bad as the Vita's if not arguably worse, the difference is the 3DS actually has upcoming games and a life ahead of it. =/

I can't think anything on the Vita that's upcoming that I really want besides Ys, sadly.

I think you're quite alone on that opinion.

I hope Nintendo get demo units into the few remaining GAME stores, or HMV, before launch, I really want to take a look myself.

I didn't realise Nintendo were doing digital downloads. But because there is no concept of an account, the games will be locked to the 3DS you download them to, right? If so that's a shame, especially with family households having multiple DSes in the house

Excellent, Ive just preordered the silver one. First impressions seem good. Hopefully I can demo one before release and cancel if necessary.

From what I understand, an account system is coming. I dont think anyone knows anything more concrete than that but, hopefully, it will arrive when Nintendo start doing full retail game downloads, and be similar to XBL and PSN. You never know though.

It's one of the big reasons I'm considering waiting on Unchained Blades, because proper account support means it'll actually be safe to buy on 3DS whereas right now PSN looks preferable.

Though I may still jump for it on PSN because it's a sure thing.

Thats fair enough. I think it is ridiculous that Nintendo released the 3DS without an account system. Really, thats the first thing you need to be nailing down when initially designing the system, I would have thought.

Not really sure how Nintendo could of solved this but I wish the bottom screen didn't stick out like on the original 3DS.

My nephews original 3DS had a nice imprint of the bottom screen etched into the top due to shitty rubber spacers Nintendo likes to use.

If 3D is really more immediate and confortable, it will be a huge selling point on such a big screen. Extra battery also means we'll be able to use maximum luminosity most of the time.

I'm so glad Nintendo took this 3D path and keeps optimizing it, immersion should be fantastic on this thing.

tempting as hell!

how important is the other analog thingy on the og 3ds?

Not really important, yet. There's a few games that utilize it, but you can play without it if you have to. I was hoping they would just go ahead and integrate it so more games might take advantage of it.

And now I have an urge to stick a retro Sonic sticker on the blue one I'm getting. It'd make it look more mature that way, am I right?

Not so much mature, more like way past cool!

You serious?

Even if you're comparing personal taste, this statement is just downright ridiculous.

Why is it ridiculous when taking personal taste into account? I own a Vita with 7 retail games that I enjoy playing. I own a 3DS with 3 retail games and one downloadable game(none of which I enjoy playing on the 3DS's tiny screens)s. The main reasons I'm getting a 3DS XL is because the future release list appears to favor Nintendo in a big way and the bump in screen size means I'll finally enjoy Mario Kart, Zelda, and SML (and hopefully Zen Pinball), but up to this point the 3DS has been a disaster for me whereas the Vita's been pretty good. If the 3DS wasn't backwards compatible, I don't think I'd ever use it.

If you only have 4 3DS games up to this point in its lifespan you're doing it wrong.

I am going to buy a 3DS when Luigi's Mansion launches, and it will no doubt be this XL version. Still think it looks fairly ugly, though. Like a cheap toy.

I plan to buy a 3DS XL day one together with the three games the system has to offer that I'm interested in. Taste differs and for someone like myself who mostly want the system for third-party RPGs, there aren't that many appealing games for it at the moment.

I want to switch to the 3DS XL from my 3DS, but how can I save all my stuff that is on the SD card? Do I just copy the contents to my PC?

This looks incredible. I love it

too bad the headphone socket is in the worst place EVER.
and THAT changes everything. dealbreaker, for fucks sake

hmpfngrmlnn

Tales
Kingdom hearts
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked

Given its poor sales in the West, I think you're right. I own 4 too many. But seriously, outside of Mario Kart, SML, and Zelda I don't see much of anything that interests me. Why waste money on 3DS games when I can buy multiple older used DS games that are worth it? I've already spent more time playing a new DS game(Pokemon Conquest) on my 3DS than I have playing any 3DS title.

You should have more than four games in just downloadable titles alone.

I'll buy some more of those when Nintendo joins the rest of the world and starts linking my purchases to me and when they stop charging 5 dollars for games like Donkey Kong Jr. I own an iPad, so I'm in no rush to overpay for something simply because it's a "classic". I try to be smart with my money.

There's no need. You need to go through the System Transfer process and then use the same SD on the 3DS XL.

This isn't good advice. Doing so would lose you two gigs of space since the XL comes with a 4 gig card. Do the transfer of system data and licenses, and then copy the contents of the card to a pc and then copy from the PC to the bigger card and use it in the XL.

Ah, that's a good point. I was thinking about my 32GB card, I didn't think of that.

I only have one, Mario Land, and I've had my system since Christmas. I want Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, and OoT. I just don't have the money or time to spend on that stuff right now.
that's understandable.

Before I sold my 3DS these were the games I had. I planned on buying more though.

Pilot wings
DOA:dimensions
Street fighter 4
LoZ: OoT 3D
MK7
SM3DL
Nano assault
Re: mercs
RE: rev
Pushmo
Shantae
Cave story
Mighty switch force
Dk 94
LoZ four swords
LoZ: LA
Ambassador games

Honestly, at this point the 3DS has an abundance of games encompassing a variety of genres which should satisfy many different tastes. I didn't even list a quarter of the games out for the system. Like I said if people want to believe it has a bad library in comparison to the vita be my guest, just know I think you have bad taste, lol

Ah, that's a good point. I was thinking about my 32GB card, I didn't think of that.

Your advice is good for people like you (and me) that replaced the original 2gig card with something bigger. I just wanted to make sure he didn't essentially toss a perfectly good 4gig card thinking he would lose his games if he didn't keep the 2gig card.

That's funny how people skip a lot of games on 3DS, but are more cool with the Vita.
Mario Kart, Zelda, SML ?
Where are Resident Evil ? Dead or Alive ? Shinobi ? Kid Icarus ? Rhythm Thief ? Star Fox ? Cave Story 3D ? Super Street Fighter IV ?

Can't you just stick the bigger card in the XL and bypass the whole pc side of things? From what I understand. The transfer makes a clone of your old system in the new system then deletes all original content from your old ds. No need to copy games to a pc as they copy to the new system as well.

Thank you both! I will trade it in for a 3DS XL at the evil company, so I will not have my 3DS anymore before the XL launches.

The transfer is just for the licensed software locked to your old system.

you need both systems present to do the system transfer.

Well Herod that's just superfluously unintuitive, though expected.

not really, it's just weirdly worded.

when you 'transfer' stuff, it really just transfers your 'license' over.

So you pretty much just do the transfer thing, then you take out the SD card from the old and stick it in the new.

that's it.

System transfer would be rendered useless with an actual account system. Why don't we have one of those yet?

costs, risk, demographics, relevance.

the reason you haven't seen stories like the PSN hack and XBL account stealing on Nintendo systems is because they are rendered irrelevant without accounts to hack. Nintendo need to devise an idiot-proof system because their demographic is likely the least tech-savvy of all the gaming demographics currently.
