Is RBR trying to blow their diffuser again?

Joe Saward explains why a London GP can't work perfectly
That would be magestic. London deserves its own race if it can be done
I'd rather see Valencia/Singapore or even any other venue dropped for this.
OT: I just recovered from a severe case of food poisoning, spent 3 days in a hospital in Bangkok. It was soo horrible to the extent that they had to pick me up in an ambulance from the hotel. Not sure why am I sharing this with u guys but I'm not telling anyone at home so they don't panic
I'm back in the hotel, picked up my iPad, and the first thing I do is check this thread! Love you guys
Cheers!
Nah, we're hosting the Rugby World Cup in 2015, the World Athletic Chamionships in 2017 and the Cricket World Cup in 2019 as well the Chamions League final in 2013. We're set for sporting events for a long time to come. There's no need for a London GP at all.I'm not sure who this guy is, but his figures are not correct. Teams get less money for Europe races, the cost of shipping their equipment, which is subsidized by FOM(?) would be significantly less. He didnt factor in the sponsorship money, and tickets to a London GP would average way. Ore than a mere $200. That's not counting the massive money coming from the paddock club. And FOM are the ones paying for it, they will not have to pay the annual fee now don't they?
A London GP could be one of the most iconic races on the calendar, and breaking-even would be very achievable. England/UK will have their last hosting of a significant sporting event for the foreseeable 10 years if not more, a formula 1 event will surely help

Guys what's your favorite podcasts for F1? I've seen a few good ones but some are so biased. If Button or Hamilton don't win they say it was a horrible race.
Unrelated, Jake Humphrey must be making mad BBC monies this year. He's out at the Euros again and will be working at the Olympics.
He's disliked vehemently by many on certain broadcasting forums and autosport. "Typical dumbed down BBC" is the favourite quip of the critics. He's even been accused of bullying.I've said this before, he's the BBC's love-child presenter. He's likeable, young and does the job very well.

It's a shame he gets that kind of stick from some quarters, he's a good chap.

"There is so much politics involved," Marko told motorline.cc. "If Martin Whitmarsh wishes me a pleasant day, I get really nervous and wonder what is up."
Damn MJ that sounds awful. Glad you're ok mate.
Sorry to hear that MJ, I'm sure you've gotten a lot of guidelines from the doctor to take it easy on your consumption of certain foods for the next couple of weeks. Its happened to me, it sucks! Hope you feel better mate. Remember, JELLO is your friend!

P.S Glad you're feeling better.
You're doing a good job of missing Saward's point there. Grand Prix's in the modern era are often best utilised used to raise the profile of a place to stimulate its economy. London's economy doesn't really need any stimulating, it's already one of the most attractive cities in the world for tourists, and there's plenty of foreign money being pumped into it. It doesn't need the help, so there's hardly any chance of the government willing to foot any of the bill for a start.
It's just like buying stock. Buy high, and your chances of getting a good return on your investment are reduced.
True, but what about what f1 needs? Maybe it needs to be in places like Monaco, London, Abu-dhabi, Singapore to keep sponsors interested in the sport. Just imagine how much would sponsors pay to get their logo appears in a London GP.
FOM would not be willing to throw in money to benefit London coty, I'm sure they see a lot of benefit to f1 from holding such an event.
Paranoid much?
He's right, though. Remember last race, when they brought the safety car out to mess with Vettel's race and ultimately broke his car?
Red Bull are irritating this year.

F1 isn't having any trouble attracting sponsors these days. I also think you're really over-stating the value of one-time race sponsors vs promoter fees and government subsidies.
I hope you don't mean the whole teamRed Bull are irritating this year.
It's really hard to tell, but you're sarcastic right? I guess McLaren payed Vergne to crash into Kovalainen.
BTW, totally hyped for this Silverstone. Given how well Caterham did with round 1 of their car updates at Valencia, I'm more enthusiastic about how they'll go next weekend with some new aero. Really showing how car/team evolution is done, I think. If they can get a point or two this year (which seems almost impossible to NOT happen) I'll be over the moon. Not as much as a Webber WDC, but not far off.
I don't like him but I got to admit that Bernie Ecclestone is a genius because he always gets people excited with marketing stunts like this London GP.
PS. Melbourne isn't profitable, MJ. At least not to the city of Melbourne. Maybe to FOM, but that'd be it.
Especially on the day someone is jailed for taking bribes from him. But I'm sure it's all just a huge coincidence..
That's a lot of straights... though, can you imagine the traffic jams due to this race?![]()
Possibly, but remember that both had to pit due to incidents at Valencia. Take away the majority of the DNFs *and* their run-ins, and I think you would've seen a similar result last weekend anyway. They need to make the most of the STR drivers' inexperience to get into that top 10.I have a really hard time seeing them scoring a point anywhere this season without a race involving lots of retirements.
