I won't. I'll see my games and some black plastic. The blue or red is only visible when I'm not playing it. As for the white unit having white plastic surrounding the screens, no thanks. I prefer black borders around screens. It enhances my viewing experience. I'm glad people are waiting. Makes it easier for me to just walk into a store and get one. Hopefully everyone ends up with whatever color they desire. Nintendo's dick move of region locking everything really comes into play in this situation.

First off, I said you hold that particular variable to a low standard. That's exactly what you said. You don't care about the color, right?

Second, this is a consumer electronic, it is not a necessity. If I'm going to drop close to $200 on a device, I'm going to make sure I enjoy every aspect. It isn't strange at all to wait if I want to enjoy it to it's fullest.

Third, I do want the system. There is absolutely no way you can tell me that I don't.

Lastly, It's not like my waiting is going to hurt your decision to buy it. I'm not telling you to wait because I don't care for the colors. You do whatever the fuck you want, just stop acting so damn arrogant.

It's not that I hold that variable to a lower standard, it's a non-issue. Don't care!

It's not affecting me in the slightest, I just think it's a really dumb reason to keep yourself from enjoying the XL. With a screen that big, you're not gonna even give half of a shit what color it is. People are gonna wait how long? What if the color you want never shows up? Are you not gonna buy it at all then?

Oh, so you DO want the system? But you're not buying it when it comes out? I see.

You still don't understand what I said about standards, but I suppose it doesn't matter. You are obviously very stubborn.

I have a white DS. I dunno dont people feel that the white background is distracting while playing games?
It would be like buying an HDTV with an all white bezel.

Wish they just gave us interchangeable covers but I can see why they wouldnt...

What's so weird about not buying one because of how it looks? Shouldn't we be voting with our wallet?

Perhaps Nintendo's reasoning is that only hardcore gamers would be upset about this, as the casual market wouldn't be aware that there was an all-white version out there. So they most likely get more sales in the long-run since people will be double-dipping once the white version is released over here.
 
I have a white J3DS and I think it's beautiful. In no way do I find it distracting or problematic during gameplay. After having used it for several months it really makes me want a white North American unit. I'll wait until either that happens or some other desirable neutral color comes along.
 
Personally, would I prefer an all black or silver 3DS XL? Sure.

But my desire to play my DS and my 3DS games on this new XL system trumps my inability to purchase a certain color.

At the end of the day I think Nintendo made a very smart move leaving the inside solid black, leaving the outside colored case as more of an aesthetic flair choice. I know some people, myself included, that got a Cosmo Black 3DS when it came out not because they did not like the other colors but because we just didn't want the other colors right next to our gameplay screen.

Now we get the best of both worlds. Bravo Nintendo!
 
I'm the same way, I reeeeeally want a white one it would be nice but above all I just want the damn system! So while I'd prefer white I'll end up getting it as soon as its out in whatever I can simple because I just want to play 3DS games on the sexy screens. :D

We have an all white Samsung LED TV and it looks super sexy, no problem what so ever with the color.
And I'd like a white XL too like so many others, but waiting is not an option for me, I'll get the blue one day 1.
 
So my best pal, who is not as big into games as I still am, loves Animal Crossing. I decided since I'm upgrading anyways, I'm gonna give her my old 3DS with a copy of the game.

I get my upgrade and she gets to play the newest Animal Crossing. Makes me happy.
 
If i am a 3DS ambassador and I have a bunch of eshop games and other VC games, is there a way to transfer my games to an XL if I get one?
 
Silly question, if I buy the 3DS XL in The States can I use the charger here in Europe?, or can I use my 3DS European charger with a 3DS XL bought in The States?.

You can use any charger for any 3DS. As for your power conversion question, I remember reading that, unlike old DS chargers, the DSi/3DS charger is only rated for 120v in US/JP and 240v in Europe. It won't switch depending on your region.

Question: any info on how solid the hinges are? I hate that slight wobble in my 3DS hinge, it bothers me whenever I play my 3DS lying down. Also, in the preview vid it seems the top screen is at a steeper angle then the default angle.

I understand how you'd like it to look gorgeous, but when you're playing it you'll only see the inside anyway, and all the non-white ones are identical inside anyway.

it's a lump of plastic. White perhaps looks less ugly, but it's not winning any beauty contests.
 
As far as i'm concerned, i shouldn't even BE buying a 3DS at all, since i still have like at least 25 sealed DS games in my backlog so yeah the least i can do in my case is to wait for an XL color i like ;)

Still... i hope it will show up by Xmas at the latest or else i might break down just cos i wanna play 3DLand really bad :(

I'm impressed how much bigger the screens are but the unit itself is about as thick and still seems small-ish.

Truly seems like the "lite" version of the console. I'm expecting them to stop selling the original form factor, for sure.

Thing is going to sell like crazy.
 
Wow, adapter and cradle are £20 on amazon. That's quite steep. Did the 3DS get cheap 3rd party cradles or am I stuck paying through the nose for this one? I find a cradle for 3DS both useful for easy charging, and essential as it visits the charger often

If you want one right away you're stuck I guess. Some third party battery grips have their own charging cradle (Nyko I think) on vanilla 3DS I expect similar things for XL down the line.
 
Okay, for whatever reason it never occured to me that the black was actually sandwhiched between colors on BOTH sides. I always thought it was just the top ala the DSLite matte revision

Watching that Swedish walkthrough and yeah, the silver looks ALOT more appealing now, especially since it's on the top and bottom

That will never happen, or at least, there will always be a smaller model available. For some people an XL console is not portable enough.

No it doesn't. It's very much a complimentary design to the original not a supplementary design.

The original model will stick around for some years to come. They'll both sell to different niches.
 
I'm planning to import a white 3DS XL from Japan. I've been trying out the Amazon.co.jp/Tenso.com combination instead of Play-Asia recently, and it's been working out to be cheaper and more reliable. The cost of shipping and customs etc. usually works out the same (steep), but the actual price of the goods themselves is better as you get Amazon prices and discounts rather than the usual importer's mark-up, and for me, EMS shipping takes about half the time from Japan than it does from Hong Kong for some reason that I cannot fathom. (Ultimately, though, it's still painfully expensive importing from Japan.)

Quite glad the 3DS XL is basically the same size as a DSi XL, I can probably pick up an old DSi XL case on the cheap:

DSi XL: 91.4mm x 161.0mm x 21.2mm
3DS XL: 93mm x 156mm x 22mm

Guess it leaves room to put in a cleaning cloth and some games in one side, though it might be a little bit snug on other sides of the case.

But 3DS -> 3DSXL feels way more like an upgrade. I know it's not technically and the og 3DS will be selling right alongside it, but it does feel inferior.

Pictures don't really do it justice. It's the best looking HDTV that I've seen for sure.

3DS XL micro!

I could see a redesign along the same lines for the current 3DS for the next revision (12-18 months between the DS ones?), curious whether they'd bother with another DSi type update (functional additions) though.

I disagree. DS/DSLite ->DSi/XL was not only an aesthetic upgrade, but it added more functions, camera and eshop.

On the other hand, 3DS xl is just a bigger version of the current 3DS.

So the inside is matte platic and the outside still is shiny?

I kinda want one but i'm going to wait for an all black version. Your fault, Nintendo!

Thank god for that. There have been a lot of times where I haven't played because I didn't want to get fingerprints and smudges on the system, and a lot of times where I went out of my way to wash my hands before playing because of this. I'm not even particularly greasy or foul, the damn thing is just a fingerprint magnet, and it's easy to end up with lines on the top screen because of it.
 
I'd like red, but if the first store I go to only has blue, blue it is!

I get that it's important to some people, but it's not to me.
