The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

Hello fellow neogafs,

I just like to share our little game that came out today on the App Store. I'm not really sure how I can get the word out just to check our game out. Its Free! We made it because we're passionate about creating games and want to express what we love to do. I just hope that everyone would just try it out if they had fun with it, if not let us know what we could do better. The game is made by just 2 guys (me and a colleague).

Here's the link to the app store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/attack-of-the-kittens/id529725320?mt=8

Our official press release
Also our facebook page if we ever converted someone to be a fan :)

:( yea at the moment its iPad only, sorry dude but there still a chance we'll release it to the iphone/itouch.. we just found its a little tougher with the way its designed to work well on a bigger screen.. We'll definitely announce something if my colleague ever has time to rework it for other devices.

Just make sure if you do, you post about it here ;)

After having a good time with tone sphere (turn up the feedback sounds), i'm off to look for more music/rhythm stuff.

Currently got groove coaster, magic piano and tone sphere in my music games folder. Any recommendations?

At risk of sounding like a broken record, if you're on an iPad, jukebeat (international)/jubeat plus (JP only) and REFLEC BEAT plus (JP) should be in there. taiko no tatsujin plus (JP) and osu!stream also have permanent places on my iPad, alongside the already mentioned Groove Coaster. And I guess Cytus is worth a try, despite the massive judgement windows and off sync charts.

Other music games I have yet to personally try include ReRave and Pulse.

By the way, we're expecting a new KONAMI music pack for jukebeat to hit within hours, if they continue to stick to their every-other-Monday schedule. This will be the last one before reaching the copious pack updates (which jubeat plus is one pack away from finishing).

But any of those that would be ok on iphone (ipad on the other side of the world :P)?

jukebeat/jubeat plus are not as good on iPhone, though technically playable. REFLEC BEAT plus, despite the name, is iPad only - no iPhone support at all. The rest are playable on both but I have no experience doing so.

If you want to see a quick and sloppy demo, here's a video I recorded of me playing jubeat plus really badly a while back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtrNHzmuRIc

Guardian Saga is fucking good. I am having a blast but I'm reaching the end soon apparently.

Do you guys know about any other Dragon Warrior - ish games on IOS??

tks!!

DQ question...

Cthulu saves the World is very DQ, and there's one other game that was linked in this thread over the weekend that I CANNOT BLOODY REMEMBER! It's annoying me, I might have to go back for a hunt.

EDIT: Dragon Fantasy! It looks pretty nice from the screens. £2

I've just been trying out Dragon Fantasy since I went to the trouble of finding it earlier and so far it seems really quite good. The controls are EXACTLY what Cthulu Saves the World should have been, and I really like the way the enemies are present.

I would love to make one of these games - how hard is it to make an 8-bit rpg??

Goddamn, CSR Racing has it's hooks in me. It's extremely aggressive with the IAP stuff but so far, I'm quite happy just to wait for my gas to refill and I'm happy to grind for my Cash / Gold. Such a simple premise, well executed.

What level are you?

I think I'm level 22 and it's really grindy at this point.

The other thing that sucks is they kinda incentive you to go lightning and then there are these bats that are immune to lightning.

It's not a bad game at all, just somewhat frustrating at this point haha
Agreed, I got to around that point too and completely gave up, even with IAP you wouldn't stand a chance on certain sections due to the level caps on each item.

Honestly I think it's a shame - it's not a particularly good game but definitely has a certain charm, I experimented with different setups and skills but found them completely ineffectual by the point I got to. And trying to beat that black cat for the second time? God damn, not a chance.

(talking about ArcherCat by the way!)

Yeah, same. The only time it ever feels like it's trying to get you into buying something is when it offers you a car for sale for only $10k or 10 tokens, but you only have a few hundred and 3 tokens to your name. Other than that, it doesn't feel *too* grindy (yet). Only done 2/3 of the races against the first "boss" though, so we'll see how that goes.

I like how it uses push notifications to make you feel like you're actually being challenged by real people though. And telling you when you have fuel to use. Very well done.

lol, I think I should start marking my posts in all bold and red. I've been tossing Guardian Saga and Dragon Fantasy out the past few pages, with everyone rubbing their tits to Cthuhul. Buy them!

They're working on the sequel to Dragon Fantasy.

Here's another one:

PicoPico Quest

Yeah, it was your post that I saw originally. I'm digging Dragon Fantasy a lot so far.

I bought and played these back when they first came out. I forgot about them since it's been so long, but I definitely agree with these two - awesome throwbacks!

Was looking at Dead Space on the iPad and decided against it based purely on the idea of screen analog sticks. I'm sure it's been said a hundred times before but if Apple put out a controller for ios games it would make it so much more enjoyable to play. Honestly could see Apple take some of that hardcore market in the process... heh, if only they cared.

Ya I took a break from IOS gaming a month or so back and randomly clicked this thread over the weekend. Downloaded CSR after seeing it was free and you guys were discussing it. I am hooked....haven't bought any thing in it yet but it is the first freemium game I actually may buy something in.

That should be the last of your reasons to be against Dead Space. The controls are fine, the game is shite though.

And yeah, you're about 2 years late to the 'physical controller' discussion. Most of us have adapted and moved on. I have played many many games on iOS, I don't need buttons.

The thing with Dragon Fantasy is that it originally WAS a Game Boy Color game, called Talisman. But things didnt work out, and it was put on the side.

Then stuff happened -> -> -> Dragon Fantasy!

edit:

Here's an interview with the guys

So I assume it is smart to avoid Dead Trigger if I can't get into FPS on IOS? I bought MC3 and hate the controls. The game looks interesting though

Ah neat, cheers for the link. It does have a bit more polish so far than the usual iOS game, and DF2 looks lovely.

Given that it's an FPS, I'm going to say no, you should totally buy it.

So I downloaded jukebeats.

Yeah... this ain't for me. Probably better on ipad, but this is wackamole xtreme. And I suck at wack a mole.

And it doesn't help that the charts don't feel... idk, right? hmmm...

I recall sucking at this at the arcade too. meh.

Woah, you're trying to play it on iPhone? Bad idea bro.

The charts are INCREDIBLE, so it's simply the fact that you're not playing on an iPad. :)

It's been so long since I played anything on my phone that I forgot about the whole dumb music-overriding-iPod issue so many devs struggle with. Dragon Fantasy suffers from this, ugh. So dumb! iPad it is.

Posted in the Pocket Planes thread but no response. Has anyone played Flight Tycoon? Is it worthwhile at all? The graphics are fairly nausea-inducing but I'd be willing to give it a shot if the gameplay is decent.
