The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming |Thread4| NOT Doomed

I'm thinking Apple was affected by the leap second with all the issues connecting to both the iOS and Mac App Stores currently.

FreeAppDaily revamp kind of sucks, but I can see it having the potential to be awesome. Asphalt 7 just showed up and by the voting, Velocirapture looks to be up next week sometime. Just got Asphalt and PvZ.

Finally got every star in Squids. I can now move on to wild west

You are #1

I 100% Wild West, the bonus character for doing that (or maybe just all stars for bonus levels) was a surprise - not even an achievement for it. Also useless because... well, you just got all stars!

I'm hoping they make some new content soon to address a certain "something" that happens when you beat the game. I also hope we dont have to wait long for te next chapter.

I have to admit, Gameloft have done a fairly good job with The Amazing Spiderman. Better than expected. Considering the 3DS version has no open world too. It's not perfect, and there's slowdown even on an iPad 3 but it's fun for a fiver!

It's $7 actually.

Frankly, I thought it was terrible, and I enjoyed some Gameloft games, but hey...

I'm still considering the Spiderman game when it gets down to 1 buck just for web-swinging's sake (usually the best thing about those), but the slowdown does sound like a deal-breaker.

Spiderman on the 3DS is pretty terrible.

Only played the demo, but I thought it had some pretty cool mechanics. That being said, it still feels very hobbled together.

Played on kongregate =(

Thanks for the suggestion!

Play it again. There are some cool, new additions on iPhone. Played it on Kongregate too, and just finished it on my phone. Was very fun, and the dynamic is very different with the addition of heroes.

Whoa, a new Wipeout-like game hit the App Store called AXL and it is kinda slick actually. Best futurist racer thus far, seems to be way better than Low Grav Racer, Protoxide and Speed Forge and actually has some lore to it as well.

It does look pretty sweet. Seems to employ a similar boost system as Kirby Air Ride.

I just noticed Frisbee Forever 2 and Cthulhu Saves the World are out. I loved the first Frisbee Forever (not sure why, but I played the shit out of it), and I've always wanted to play Cthulhu. How is it running on the iOS? I've read a LOT of reviews and comments about crashing issues...

Is there an iPad version, why can't I find it on the store?

Frisbee Forever 2 is really good. I never played the first, but its a very fun and relaxing little game, amazing for free.

I'm all over the shop on Cthulu though. The controls aren't the best but they work for me and I haven't experienced any crashes on iPad 2 and it's a decent old school Dragon Quest style game with lots of very funny dialogue. But at about 2 hours in, I'm finding it very repetitive in that I'm doing the exact same moves in every fight. There is one strategy that is very effective and it works all the time.

I'm not sure what's different as opposed to the DQ games since I loved those, but the combat in this is really boring me.

I love the penny arcade cthulhu game, but god damn do the controls suck. I can only hope they add a new option or even a basic dpad. It's a huge pain just to stop in front of a chest/npc and face it to interact (on iPad). It's really funny though IMO and I haven't played a retro RPG like this in quite a while so I'll probably stick with it.

You can kinda solve the slowdown problem though. The game is very easy to mod, so if you remove some effects the framerate does get a lot better. I took away the horrible bloom and the game not only looked better but it was running slightly faster too. Then I reduced the texture resolution and a couple other things to make the framerate tolerable.

You can tweak the graphics a lot, to the point the game can run to something close to 40-60 fps. It will look hideous though.

I still find the webslinging to be boring. No depth at all. After Spider-Man 2 I can never go back unless the game does other things right (like the console version does).

Interesting impressions of Cthulhu - I want to buy and support it, but if it's buggy and not "great", I'm not sure I want to spend the money. Hmm

Ah good to know, I did something similar with GTA3 a while ago. I'll keep that in mind. I'll watch some gameplay videos when it goes on sale in the future and maybe get it if I don't have much else to play by then.

For $1 I'd say give it a shot, you might enjoy it. At $7, stay away.

Man, the Cthulu: Wasted Lands game is really great. Brings back tons of memories of X-Com back in the day.

Honestly, I feel kind of guilty that I didn't pay for it.

Having played both, the combat in Penny Arcade is way better, they weren't kidding about this being their best game by a long way, the variety in classes and polish is like night and day to CSTW.

iCloud will be added via an update on Monday.
-fixes money booster and the bank too.
hope this helped
Cool.

I picked up DT since it was cheap but didn't realise it had in app purchases. I really try stay away from them.

Is there a cool list showing some of the best iPad games somewhere?

I've been playing Space Miner HD recently and completely fell in love with it - are there more games like that for the iPad? This + Super Crate Box = LOVE.

I don't mind them but paying for the app and then being shown lots of IAP is annoying as shit, but I will put up with it because this game is worthwhile at least.

Bouncing between this game and CSR Racing is a rather good free2play mix.

Neither do I. My only IAP have been the Scribblenauts season pass and Jetpack Joyride coin doubler. But I bought 5.00 in gold in this. I would have easily spent 6.00 on this game.

Just finished EP1 of Hector and although I enjoyed it I had some problems with it and was wondering if the later episodes fixed these issues:
1. No subtitles in cutscenes
2. The game doesn't pause when it is minimised instead it takes you back to the main menu

Hello fellow neogafs,

I just like to share our little game that came out today on the App Store. I'm not really sure how I can get the word out just to check our game out. Its Free! We made it because we're passionate about creating games and want to express what we love to do. I just hope that everyone would just try it out if they had fun with it, if not let us know what we could do better. The game is made by just 2 guys (me and a colleague).

Here's the link to the app store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/attack-of-the-kittens/id529725320?mt=8

Our official press release
Also our facebook page if we ever converted someone to be a fan :)

They should really make a simulation game (anything from pocket planes to dragonvale) that doesn't have iap. I don't even mind paying 5$ for a game if i can continue to progress without waiting real life hours. Like maybe let you go to a dungeon while you wait for your shit to finish and you can find money or gems in the dungeon. It just pisses me off but obviously there is a lot of money to be made with rich kids buying farmville bux.

Hi kids. Try this game while it's free. It's kind of like a top down gameboy katamari where you play a cloud that has to absorb other clouds to increase your size so you can take out planes and birds and shit.

Looking forward to the iCloud support.

So is dead trigger worth buying if I don't buy any iap? I still want to be able to advance and level up and whatnot.

Well, it will be a bit of a grind to buy your first decent weapon without IAP, but I still think it's well worth it. It's a damn fun zombie shooter.

The game just isn't fun to me. Enemies just stand around/ walk toward you so you can shoot them. You run around waiting for enemies to spawn so you can kill them. Maybe it gets better later, but I can't really get into it, though I understand some people like it. Still it's just a dollar. You can easily get a dollar's worth of fun out of it.

No, plus the other episodes arent Retina (well, the old Retina)

Hey guys, I hope this isn't 'fanboy' war worthy, but is there an Android version of this thread? If not, is that sort of talk accepted around these parts?
