3DS XL First Impressions/Previews

I just noticed the xl weights 334grams. The dsi xl was 314 grams and I found that really too heavy and uncomfortable to hold for extended periods of time, which made me switch back to a dsi. Damn, I was really looking forward to the 3ds xl, but it's just too heavy for me. I'll stick to my regular 3ds.

Found some nice shots from a review.

Man, Zelda is going to look amazing on this thing.
God... So happy I haven't played MQ (remake version) yet. Definitely going to start that up once I get an XL

Indeed, will be nice to see the MQ now, it has the inverted world and the new art/graphics

I had it on a collection, but never got to play it and i now am glad for that :)

Will definatly feel like playing a very different version on 3DS XL, it also has the 3D effect that makes it even more appealing

Also the fact that OOT is now on a handheld means a lot of amazing thing can happen for future 3DS zelda games :), cant wait to see what they will come up with next

nintendo can say what they want but the IQ IS better. the colors look way more saturated.

They did give a hint though, something about the extra power needed to light the new screen or something, which explains the extra vibrance and contrasts

god im actually really tempted by this... but this just feels like a premium edition, as opposed to the revision i was kinda waiting for.

I dunno. That one sounded more like: the bigger screens need more energy.
anyway, can't wait for the end of the month! :)

Definatly, that is why i only mention it as a hint

The fact that they changed the back lighting is a possible reason why the screen looks more vibrand on XL, that is an assumption of course, but gives a hint that this could be the case

Got my preorder in yesterday. Hopefully the transfer from my 3DS to XL goes smoothly. After playing on my Vita so much I need a larger screen for my 3DS gaming.

That looks painful to hold for long periods. No thanks.

Reminds me of the gaf mockup threads for the Wii U controller. Some people and their total disregard for anything related to ergonomics.

I can't even stand the regular 3DS/DSLite. It literally puts my hands to sleep after about 20 - 30 minutes with the way its cramped layout cuts off blood supply for me. This was the biggest reason I've held off on the regular 3DS. I needed something bigger that was designed for decent sized adult hands.

This may be the first time that I buy a different handheld model other than the OG from Nintendo. It's because of the OG model fault rather than this being an amazing offer.

The 3ds is just too fucking small, I can't let this pass when hopefully there's years remaining of amazing games, my hands would hate me.

Still no red video shots. :( Apparently those aren't being sent to reviewers or press I guess. July 28th will be the earliest we see it?

Really? I will be all over this, but it's easily the most meek initial revision from Nintendo, IMO.

The GBA and DS first passes were HORRIBLE. No lighting on the GBA, obviously, and the original DS had extremely terrible, dim screens and was just kludgy and ugly as hell, DS Lite was such a great revision.

Do DSiWare saved games transfer fine when going between 3DS systems?

I think this has already been answered with 'yes' for transferring from 3DS to 3DS. I know the answer is 'no' when transferring from DSi to 3DS, but wanted to make sure the saves transfer when going from 3DS to 3DS. Does the DSiWare game need to be moved to the SD card, first?

Thanks!

Yeah same. I jumped on the DS the instant Castlevania was out, with the 3DS I've waited and waited and waiting paid off.

God damn the XL just seems great in every single way.

I was too young when I had the GBA :P I would have never asked for my parents for the revision. If that was now, I would have probably bought the SP for sure.

In terms of the Phat DS, yeah the screens suck now looking back, but I felt about the DS Lite size the same way I feel about the 3DS size. It was too uncomfortable to me. If the DSi XL had been the 1st revision maybe I would have bought it.

I still think the Phat DS is the perfect DS size.
