It's a matter of taste, but silver just doesn't do it for me.
Silver always gives me a feel that it's a high class or even serious product and, no offense, but I could live with a silver psvita, ps3, and I even own a HALO Reach 360 in silver, but for some strange reason I always like my Nintendo consoles in a bright color. I still own al my consoles and my orange Cube is still my favourite.

Nah, this makes it awesome... colorful screens footage on black background is the best way, especially for 3D footage. Hated the two-color approach on the original 3DS.

I believe they all have the same metallic coating. The red one looks different because of the angle.
