The best game on the 3DS; Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars.
The bestest and most uniquest game on 3DS would be the mighty Pushmo.
watered down versions should only be used to describe games that are literally watered down ports of console/superior versions, not unique entries in a franchise.
100% agreed. Watered down is a downgrade with respect to ports. Even with Resistance, it was a new entry. Not really unique but it's a game you couldn't play on the PS3.
So you don't want "watered down" versions of Uncharted, Resistance, and Assassin's Creed (even though Resistance is the only one I would qualify as "watered down"), but you'll take the same format of "watered down" games on your 3DS because you have a love for those characters? Am I right?
resistance could be considered watered down as its a shorter campaign and has a more limited multiplayer that its console counter parts..... I still enjoy it though.
I guess I could agree with that. It's a matter of semantics with the word "watered". I would consider Lego Batman a "watered" down port since it doesn't take advantage of the hardware (port of 3DS game). Resistance Vita is functionally depleted in comparison to it's big brother.
Well i would argue strategy seems to different for Nintendo. With games like 3D land, kid icarus or Luigis Mansion they are at least trying to make games that specifically fit the handheld format with designing time limits and short levels in each of these games. These games also do not resemble any experience you can already get on the Wii which is why theyre not watered down. Theyre either significantly different, complete and actualized sequels (such as mario kart 7), or new franchise altogether in kid icarus.
Also 3ds has the 3d which offers a kind of unique experience, whether it appeals to you or not. Funny youre accusing me of fanboyism and favoritism here as I could easily accuse you of the same.

Uncharted golden abyss on the other hand is obviously watered down from something like Uncharted 3, i dont think i even need to explain the many reasons why if you are thinking with a clear unbiased mind.

wipeout was made by the main team and is a main entry in the series...How is Mario Kart and 3D Land and Luigi's Mansion watered down versions of console games when they are full sequels and had the main teams working on them?
Thank you captain obvious.first year = early adopters

How do you feel about Mario 3d land, kingdom hearts, monster hunter, and resident evil revelations? Because honestly those are the games worth playing on 3ds and they all fit your description of "water downed console ports or spinoffs". Besides kid Icarus and Mario cart (both would be way better on consoles) I can't think of any unique games for 3ds.
Mario 3D Land and Revelations are 'watered down' games now?? lol
Whoa, these are my exact thoughts as well. I don't think either of us are angry and passionate enough for GAF.That's fine, but then I can't say that the 3DS has no games just because I don't care about those games. It just has no games that I care about.
I almost bought a Vita today, but the prices of the games...30 € for mgs:hd? I'm a big fan but those games are ten year old, I'd happily pay 10 € but that's just too much.
Price isn't an excuse for Vita in my opinion, you can, if you want to get it cheap.
Games comes down to personal taste and a person's ability to completely accurately value the PSP library to themselves (Which a lot of people seem to ignore).
Just as much as Uncharted and Wipeout. 3D Land and Revelaitons are the two best games on the system though, hands down.Mario 3D Land and Revelations are 'watered down' games now?? lol

Any PSP game I wanted, I would have already played on my PSP.
I'm kind of interested in getting one, but... if the install base is low, that means less games and less games means... well, it would be a waste of money.
And for the record, I have a 3DS already. I only have one game and I'm only interested in Kingdom Hearts at this point. That doesn't have a lot of games I want either, evidently... for now.
What was presented in the article that turned you off from your purchase? The memory card situation is awful but well known and his complaint about the lack of games for the system isn't anything new.I read an interesting article on Kotaku that gives a very dark and dim opinion on it. Its worth reading.
I was thinking of getting one for Uncharted but now im iffy.

Technically this was a criticism against the PSP since it didn't apply to Nintendo's DS.Lets get this straight, they would be better on consoles.
Or so I hear from all the Vita critiques.

Oh, I assumed you knew those things going in. It's not much of a qualifier, but it's worth noting that the writer of the article is specifically referring to retail games (here's hoping Jet Set Radio HD and Retro City Rampage come out this month). The list of upcoming games is worth going through. If there's nothing coming out this year that interests you, then I don't think the system's worth buying this year.Well, the lack of games for a 6 week period is not a good sign. I mean, it is a gaming system primarily, isnt it?

Unless you're Canadian.
That's what's holding me back. If the upcoming 3rd party support looked stronger, I'd grab one for sure. But as it is, I'm going to watch things develop before I make any decisions. Also while the games released for Vita have been good so far, the upcoming support looks pretty terrible from 3rd parties.
Thanks for the answers, all. I think that unless I can get it for cheap, I'll at least wait for AC.
(And things look a bit shakier as of this morning -- COD Vita was considered by some to be a potential system savior, but now it sounds like it might end up being a 3DS/iOS port. Hmmm...)
If you're interested primarily in annual sports games and Uncharted, then holding off for a year is for the best. Madden 13 seems to be watered down from its console brethren, and Uncharted isn't going to go anywhere anytime soon (although I wouldn't mind if the price went down).I haven't been following vita as much as i do console gaming. But EA is on, thank god. I might wait for a price drop though.
