I just bought a Vita today. If there are games you want to play, you can justify it to yourself.
Makes me want to play my PSP.
I sometimes wonder if launch adopters of the 3DS have taken their "ambassador" status all too seriously. Some of the hard sells in this thread even though OP says he has one make me say wow.
I think Vita may be my favourite platform of the now. The ease of playing quick bursts of games, suspending them, then immediately going back that sexilicious OLED screen is something else. Never bought so many games in the first half a year of a systems life either, i gots the fever.

Cognitive dissonance in two paragraph form
I hope you did that on purpose because that was fantastic. Sexilicous, even. Now I want pie.
Yeah, I've spent a good $500 on software since I got my Vita. I would have spent even more if Sony wasn't ripping people off on memory cards and offered an competitively priced, fast card that was 64 Gigs (or 128 gigs, but then I'm a little crazy)
Wow, looking at the 2 lists in comparison is bad for the Vita...just, eh...

the vita has been the most played portable i've ever owned. it has surpassed my ps3 and 360. we had a horrible storm in the dc area last week and were without power for days. the thing literally saved me from descending in to heat induced madness.
How did you keep it charged while playing for days?
Car charger? How did you keep it charged while playing for days?
I think the Youtube app is really nice, especially when I'm watching videos in bed. As much as I adore my iPad, it can be a teensy bit awkward to hold when you're lying down.
Huh? I'm laying down in bed with an iPad while I write this and is perfectly comfortable.
I think the problem with Vita is that is sharing a lot with PS3
Rayman Origins - on PS3/360
Uncharted - on PS3, different version though
Ninja Gaiden - everywhere
Disgaea 3 - PS3
Persona 4(October) - PS2
MGSHD - PS3
LBP(holiday) - PS3, different version
Same goes for Dragons Crown and Heroes of Ruin, which are games that i would buy a Vita for, but i can get them on my PS3
I think they need far more 100% exclusive games for the system
In contrast 3DS has games like Zelda OOT 3D remake, Bravely Default and full BC and i just have to get one for those
i don't understand, games like persona 4 remake are bad and zelda remake is good?
well to be fair the list you quoted all the games are directly available on this gens hardware as opposed to Zelda OoT which isn't.
I dont own a ps3 so i love dem ports!!!! gwahahaha
OOT was ported to the GameCube and of course the Wii plays all GameCube games so hence, you can play OOT on this gens hardware![]()

have you ever heard of the nintendo virtual console?
awesome...i didnt know it could play the upgraded 3d version.
though i dont know anything about the wii except its in my living room so my bad![]()
Do you even know what you are responding to? I specifically responded to a list of 10 games the poster said they can list for each platform, and I found it kind of sad the list that was thrown up for vita compared to the 3DS. All I saw was ports ports ports for the Vita with a little uncharted thrown in, and as I said more power to you if you want multiple ports on the go for THAT price the masses obviously don't. Same could be said as always about the 3DS launch and the masses spoke with their money (just like I did)...You know the 3DS has been out a year longer right? Compare July 2012 Vita to July 2011 3DS and it would be so embarrassingly free for Vita.
Same, sale is tempting as hell.that big atlus sale is trying to get me to buy a vita earlier than i wanted to. or a psp go at least
Plus Mortal Kombat is $20 on Gamestop at the moment and Gamestop is also giving a $50 gift card with Vita-purchases. So, one considering buying one can get the Vita, Mortal Kombat and Memory Card..for the price of the Vita alone ($250).
Gravity Rush is one of my top games of the year so far... but now that I'm done with it I really don't have anything else to play. I've tried out all of the demos on the PSN store but everything except for Gravity Rush feels like a PS3 game shoehorned onto a less capable system rather than something which was designed to take advantage of the Vita's strengths.
Considering Gravity Rush's development history, you're off base.
According to the article, the switch from the PS3 to the PS Vita occurred around 2009. At the time, the systems past nickname from the Gravity Rush development team was New Portable Game Machine. The games actual development started in summer 2008.

Wait for White!
Fantastic hardware, underwhelming (opinions) software library as of right now unless you're interested in quirky Japanese stuff.
By the time White is out, you'll have a few more games to choose from as well as an even sexier piece of hardware. You can't lose!
Buying a handheld for one game is stupid. I did it with 3DS and it was a huge mistake. Don't make that mistake.
Based on op's posts, the answer is clearly no. He already has a 3ds that he doesn't play, why does he need another device to neglect? He'll play Assassin's Creed for maybe 10 hrs and then the system will collect dust until something else catches his interest, if that ever happens.
As for the iPad 2/3 claim, I've got both an iPad 2 and iPad 3, and I've seen renderings that are technically more impressive to me than what I see on my Vita. Here's the thing, though - I'm not 100% sure, and I doubt you are, either. What I'd like to do is take a look at the technical specifications of both the GPU and CPU of each device, and make a proper claim then. Either way, the Vita is much closer to a modern iPad than it is to a PS3.
