EVO 2012 Thread 2 Because one thread wasnt enough to hold all the hype and the salt

Looking at the stream chat, I just saw someone put "Capcom vs G.I. Joe" and my first thought was "I would play the shit out of that game, but only if it was 80's characters."

I swear I read somewhere with Ed Boon saying the stage transitions might not stay, or at least won't be as long. That they're hearing people out on these things. It's obviously early enough in the game's life where those transitions could be tweaked to be faster somehow or something, otherwise I don't think he'd say that...

I LOVE those round end scenes.

I do too. I know they are going for a cinematic experience, but entire cut scenes during supers, stages changes, and stage specific special moves are too much. Just putting scenes like this between rounds would be enough, I think.

A less is more kind of thing.

Seriously

Nothing is sacred if SFxT made it to EVO. It's not even about SFxT being mechanically bad or anything. A game with a pay to win scheme actually made it to the world's biggest tournament.

Anything is acceptable now...

Pay to win wasn't featured in EVO, you don't have much of a point.

SFxTK at the end of the day is just a fighting game that borrowed from other games in a sloppy manner. It was announced for EVO before it came out... which was stupid. No surprise the game didn't evolve after 4 months.

Not bad at all! Its looking good but I think after in battle stage changes the one character that was thrown recovers too quickly. Also Batman should of came down the hole Grundy came from. Not the side like he did.

Batman stance makes no sense, dude is a Samurai.

Well Batman is more of a brawler. If Nightwing moved like that I'd be pretty disappointed.

I'm 38 and think the game looks awesome.

Enough with this faux-maturity stuff. Every fighting game does not have to be the same. This "pure honest fighting" stuff is bordering on becoming bullshit. It's a meme started so some people can make themselves seem like they're serious business about their fitan games.

You've got VF, you've got KoF, you've got Tekken, you've got 2D Capcom fighters, you've got MK9, you've got ArcSys games, etc etc etc. There is an incredible variety of mechanics and styles.

You are not hardcore because you think all fitan games should be the same or 'serious'.

I think the game looks (or at least animates) like shit, but I %100 agree with this.

Not every fighting game needs to be "EVO certified and proved" just for the sake of competition. The market can handle people who can try things outside the 90s box, I don't think this thing is gonna be it, but another might.

So much this. There's still a lot to be seen about this game, but I'm liking what I've seen and heard thus far. And the fact that it looks to be doing something else entirely helps that much.

I like to have fun while I play my games too. But don't try to sell me something that has already been done. The game looks almost exactly like MK except for the gimmicks.

I have faith it'll change, but if it doesn't, I'm not being a FG hipster when I don't buy it.

Can you explain how I am being unfair? Should Evo feature cutscenes in the middle of its matches?

There might be an option for shorter transitions or skip them completely? I'm not all that interested in the game but it seems a little early to make any kind of real impressions about it.

You are posting in the EVO thread. Who are you trying to preach to?

I hope so.

They will probably add in a skip animation button for the stage transitions, I mean they sorta have to.

They seem really interested in making injustice a competitive game, so they can't be THAT dense. They have to know it would kill any chance of people playing it seriously, or it ever getting any stream time. NRS has made mistakes in the past, but there not completely brain dead, so I'm not too worried, yet.

Hmmmm I wished the animations were better and I'm afraid even though its super gimmicky it would get stale after a few games when you see everything, but I guess that's kinda a Netherelm game I guess.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: flying around on a trashcan lid is not a good look.
Superman and Batman wear their Fruit of the Loom undies on the outside of their skin tight fullbody leotards.

I'd say he looks just fine considering present company. Besides he ditches the trashcan lid for high tech not-a-trashcan-lid lid pretty quick.

And just look at the stuff your boy Hawk likes to wear to street fights.
VF5 disagrees
You can't compare blocking in 3D games with 2D ones. That's just silly.

It's not a matter of these features being used. It's the fact that the game was put up there when such a huge and questionable part of the game is a defining feature. The type of feature that could easily ruin a competitive genre.

It's like voting a criminal into office. I totally understand that he might be a good politician and civil servant despite his/her history, but that's not how it will ever be perceived by the majority.

Stream 3 had some pretty great content the past two days. Thought it'd be cool to collect it all and tidy it up!

INDIE GAME PANEL - approx 1 hour. The very start doesn't seem to be archived.

---

CROSSCOUNTER EVO PREVIEW - Start at 2hrs for, I dunno, half an hour to an hour's worth of Ross, Gootecks and Zhi that was on a long loop.

CAPCOM PANEL - same link as above, 00h:30m to 02h:00m

---

ULTRACHEN TV w/ FANATIQ - This was awesome, really, really interesting. Starts at around 23minutes, lasts for about an hour and a half.

---

THE LEVEL|UP EXPERIENCE - starts at around 12 minutes. Haven't watched this yet. Hosted by MarkMan, chatting with Alex Valle, AJ and the behind the scenes crew. With bonus Offcast. Lasts an hour.

PLAYSTATION ALL-STARS - Chatting with Superbot. Starts at around 02h15m. Lasts ~90 minutes.

---

ASSIST ME! - Maximillian, Dr Doom, Phoenix, X-23 and Wesker Q&A. Starts with an intro film that was far too distracting as a thumbnail during Marvel yesterday. Skip to around 35 minutes in. 90 minutes long.
