EVO 2012 Thread 2 Because one thread wasnt enough to hold all the hype and the salt

"You guys are fucked up."

No you may have misunderstood me. The SF4 finals didn't take long to finish off in terms of time. As such, I would rather they were played this year at the end of Friday, whilst everybody was still in SF4 mode and the hype was at it's highest level.

The two day break and all that happened before today killed all the hype of Friday for me. I also think the level of play would have been higher if it was finished on the day.

KOF and Marvel, which take a long time and hence can build the hype up again, could stay on the Sunday.

I get the complaints about this year, but they don't apply at all to previous years.
And Marvel would've been much shorter if it was 2/3 as well.

triforce is THIS close to putting his paypal password and info on screen.

i think im going to tuck it in for the night. lemme know if he ends up doing even more stupid things that have big consequences. peace.

I'm gonna make it a goal to try and get put there next year even though I'm terrible at fighting games.

I'd also feel like Chris G and F. Champ are with out a doubt the two best Marvel players at the moment. Their sets at CEO and now EVO have been the highest level play the game has seen.

Yeah there was supposed to be a player introduction hosted by Mike Ross and Gootecks that was on before Marvel. Which was why the stream was just showing the logo for a long time. I don't know why they didn't show the video though.

We should have a choke collection video for EVO2012 that at the very least contains...
- Viscant against PzPoy calling the Phoenix assist while having 5 bars, only for Phoenix to get bopped leaving him with a lone Haggar
- Chris G deciding to do a hard tag to get Morrigan out, only to get punished hard afterwards.
- Scrubteks already having a 2 game lead decides to go on the offensive against Chris G instead of doing laming it out with Modok
- Infrit about to do a second comeback with solo Sentinel, only to fail a combo and get bopped

I'm sure the KOF sets contained some but I'm too tired to remember. SF4 was kind of disappointing to watch only because Infiltration was so dominant. Dude was the antichoke.

For reference, the worst Justin had ever previously done in Marvel was 4th place mvc2 at Evo 2005. This year he got 7th.
I was cheering pretty hard when Chris G took him out. The only thing that could have made the top 8 perfect for me is if the Chris G and F. Champ set had been grand finals. Those two pushed this game further than anyone else, imo. Though I guess I have to give Infrit props for making me look like an idiot when I said the WNF/TRB regulars (relatively) suck.

Only thing that sucks about Evo is that it's so hard to find games compared to almost any other major I've been to. :/ No one I've texted is doing casuals and the only people willing to money match me so far are hella good.

wow I didn't realize that. Pretty mindblowing.

This years marvel was so fucking volatile. So many big hitters went out so early do to 2/3 and the game being so volatile.

Not really, they went out early because they were up against better players who outplayed them fair and square. There are just a lot of hidden killers out there, not just for UMvC3 but also for other fighting games. Did you foresee SCV grand finals being Tira vs Cervantes? 3 of the top 4 in KOFXIII being Korean players? Infiltration winning AE2012 with little competition?

Sfxt just felt painful to watch or even take seriously during evo, the only reason why I even decided to try to watch the finals was because of Mike Ross and Combofiend and well....yeah we knew how that turned out, even Fuudo and Tokido I thought would make things interesting and they did for one moment but after that was just horrible.

I think it should be removed as there would be no way to make it really viable without making a fresh game, TT2 should take its place if its not replacing SCV.

i think overall King Of Fighters was the most hype ive ever been for a final in a long time that and the ST Tourney are stand out evo moments for me this year

I heard Ono was really disappointed in the SFxT reception... I wonder what he's gonna add to the game to increase its visibility and likability...

well an extra 30 seconds would probably help. that or making pandora more like x-factor.

I never see anyone use it, even when they are about to lose from a time out.

I'm still salty over that SF4 finals, man. Can't believe. So much hype on friday.
"Ok, let's go dieminion!" *DESTROYED*
"All right, let's go Human Bomb! Give me a Sakura champion!" *DESTROYED*
"...ok... let's go Daigo?" *DESTROYED*

I loved how the crowd yelled the attacks during Marvel.

"POWER OF THE NOVA FORCE!"
"SO LONG SUCKER! AAAAAAAH! THIS... IS IT!"
"BIONIC AAAAAAARRRRRRMMMM!!!"

I think this EVO was better than last year, maybe some of you are disappointed because the AE Top 8 were mostly unhype but:

- KOF was the most amazing thing this year. Bala was destined to win, he was the sure bet of EVO, the god of KOF. And then an unknown korean player came out and took the crown beating him in two sets. Nobody saw that coming, so the hype was incredible. The ending with the top players shouting together K-O-F made me proud being part of the FGC, this is how you show love for the game and your community.

- ST legends tournament is a close second. Mao and Kusumondo put on a spectacular fight that showed again why this game will never die.

- Marvel was better than last year, it was totally nerve-wracking, nearly every matches went down to the wire. There were a lot of chokes and not clean fights, ChrisG vs FChamp sets was high level playing at its finest, yet full of strange decision (in fact it ended with a choke). FChamp deserved the win, he was the most solid player all around.

- While AE finals were so and so (Shadowloo Showdown was the best), quarter finals to Top 8 were fantastic, lots of upsets and great matches. There's nothing really much to say about Infiltration's performance, he was like the incarnation of Akuma, all those demons that came out of nowhere.

I hope EVO next year will get a fourth day, it's just too big now and I'm sure the international showing are only going to grow. This year we had Mexico, Korea, China, South East Asia and Japan. I'm expecting more South American players for the next year.
It's not feasible doing all the finals in one day, KOF can take a lot of time and Marvel is now 3/5, plus too many interruptions, that hurt the viewership a lot.

EVO is now truly The world championship, it's not just about USA vs Japan, people are coming from everywhere and you can feel the excitement in the air. There's nothing like that.

Yo! EVO2012 was mad hype!

Just stopping on by and say that and reply to a few comments before partying with UltraDavid and some friends.

Is that Kingofsarus? He looks fucking hilarious!

Haha! Nah, that wasn't me. However, you can see me on the left doing the same shit.

That guy and I were being hardcore crowd monsters that day. lmao

Seth just called KingofSarus "one of the biggest trolls " LOL

Yes!
Haha!

I actually ran into him yesterday and he said he is a huge fan of my trolling.

Totally made my EVO.

Oh, and by the way.
