That's because the differences in tier lists in KOF is relatively small. Any character can win a tourney. If I can recall, no one is really considered lower than B tier in the game.

1. Champ used his Phoenix team, which isn't his best team. This isn't vanilla, she isn't even that good in this game.

2. Champ didn't even respect him. He played with his shades on, and when Champ has his shades on he doesn't respect that person.

3. In GF when he went back to his best team, he made Infrit look like he didn't deserve to make it out of pool play.

Champ haters make me rofl. "Let him come back" ha...

As good as Xiao Hai was playing(I bet on him vs gamerbee, which was really close), no way anybody competes with Infiltration the way he was playing. I was awestruck the whole time. Every year I think SF4 is figured out, and every year I'm completely floored. His defense, his setups, his reactions and understanding all outclassed the other competitors cleanly.

I'm not sure why people were surprised Chris G was on par with champ either, did they miss CEO? Have they even been paying attention?

I think AE tournament results now a days is based on whoever is on fire. The top players can all take each other out (unlike last 3 years). We saw this with Reiketsu (the Japanese claw) just demolishing everyone during Topanga Cup. We saw this at Japan Nationals when MDR's rufus was on another level. And we saw this during Shadowloo when Eita took everyone out. It was already like this in Japan, but now that the Koreans, Americans, and Gamerbee have stepped up their game, it is now seen at the International tournaments.

If people dont happen to follow TeamSp00ky/BigTwo streams, they wouldnt be exposed to ChrisG very much. The more popular FGC players are all West coast and play WNF.
 
I just finished watching the ST tournament and wow that was hype as fuck! That was one of the best Vega's I've ever seen! :o

ST is still bringing the hype after all these years. Can't believe I didn't catch this live..

I'm pretty sure since WNF split into two days, big two averages more viewers. I bet most viewers watch both anyway.

I've seen plenty if chris g and did not rate him. He stepped it up again yesterday and was almost good enough. I have to respect his play now, if not exactly the way he goes about it.

Well put. Infiltration was on an entirely different level but based purely on matchups, Cammy definitely has the right tools to challenge Akuma. I would have loved to see Infiltration vs Xiao Hai in the grand finals.

I can't wait to see what sort of matches we'll see in 5 months for Capcom's final tournament.
 
Not even just against fchamp but chrisg over came a lot of his demons to get there. Beat the Modok player, beat Wong who beat him at CEO and winter brawl, beat combofiend who beat him at ect and finally beat flocke who put him in losers bracket at evo. He was playing the best marvel he has ever played but his best was just 1% under fchamps best.

Chris/Champ is a 5/5 matchup. Was just a matter of who eked out the win that day.
 
chris g's match against that modok player was one of the best matches at evo. it was sooooo close but chris g clutched it out.

I think a lot of people ranked him low in the beginning cause he got hit with some heavy nerfs from Arcade-13 that hurt him in the initial metagame.

I'm sure he's definitely shooting up after this though. The first match I lost was against a different Duo Lon player as well.

This is where I'm at with it. Champ had a good chance to win, but bad decision making by Combo, Chris G, and Infrit is what got him over. I'm still mad at Combo, of all people, being scared enough of Phoenix to try to run.

The problem, I think, is that he didn't have a good set up to snipe her, so if DP activated, he was probably dead.

Gouken/Cammy is an even worse matchup. As a gouken player, this is probably my worse matchup. Probably 6-4 Cammy (maybe 7-3 if I'm having a bad day lol). Gouken has a lot of trouble against characters who can alter their jump arc.

I would agree with this. Match between them was decided on last game, last character and last moment. We would have had a different result of that last moment was played out differently.

I totally agree. They are truly the top 2 players in Marvel right now. I hate Fchamp, but his Dormamu is totally on a different level. It felt as though he level it up in the last match against Chris G with the stuff he was doing. He totally deserved to win EVO with the effort he put in.

Exactly. Either way was a big gamble, and he was pretty screwed no matter what. Seems most often people are able to kill Dark Phoenix when they have an Xfactor on board, if not they just eat shit. He blew his early, so he was a the mercy of her shenanigans.
 
Funny how Daigo lost but it is again one of his matches that will be remembered for a long time to come.

Just like that Evo with the parry.

Is Akuma's super a little broken or is Infiltration just amazing at using it.
It seems you can use it after block stun.

And Akuma's Ultra does insane dmg.

I don't think anyone has landed it successfully this many times in quick succession, people miss with it rather often.

Some of those were bad jumps, some of them were just Infiltration being amazing, and some were because the super is 0 frames.
