Holy crap a whole 'nother week?

Poor poor Fry. Where are you?

Yes. And the worst thing is, I thought it was a worldwide release until two days ago when I was making plans with my friend, until he gave the bad news. :(

I'm from Brazil.

Yes, Latin America got screwed :( It makes no sense making us wait one more week, nowadays every big movie gets a worldwide release. I need to burn my PC after July 20th to avoid spoilers.

Anyone catch Anne on the Today Show?

Freeman is on tomorrow I think and then later at night on Letterman. But the real interview will be on Monday when Bale is interviewed. The 2008 interview was amazing. It was like Eminem on drugs back in 2004 for a BET interview.

I started reading this thread by jumping on Page 5 (100 posts) and immediately saw Solo calling someone the sea-ward. I feel like I just dodged a bullet.

It's my "fuck yeah" moment of the day.

Wish I missed it too. I was supposed to be in the gym at the time. Got lazy :(

I'm so used to that scene being chopped up in the trailers, that seeing it all come together is so surreal to me. Also, why is Seth Myers there instead of Regis?

Regis retired so they're rotating guest hosts in. Looks like Meyers is a contender for the position.

So will this one be better than Dark Knight? No chance of another Prometheus type deflation?

No chance for a Prometheus let-down. It's a different type of movie than TDK in some ways, in tone and scope though, so some may still prefer TDK. But most early (obviously hyped) impressions say it's better.

Prometheus type disappointment seems pretty unlikely at this point. Lots of social media buzz in the wake of all those press screenings and all the impressions thus far have been very positive.

I get the feeling if this movie had any toxic buzz coming out of the screenings so far that Devin Faraci would have tweeted that he's heard word of it by now.

Think there's another clip at this point, Anne Hathaway talking on Live with Kelly post Regis

Outstanding.

It sounds like it's at least on par. 'For sure better' sounds like a tall order considering all we've had so far are elusive tweets.

If anything, Devin's taken a turn for the positive in the last couple of weeks.

The hype is making me believe that the film won't be as great as people say it is. The plot seems to be very topical and the critics are loving how relatable it is. I really hope I'm wrong. I don't want to be let down.

"Occupy" parallels aside, the script's main inspiration is Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities. These themes run deep. If you think they're topical, then you're not considering them in a literary or historical sense.

I'm also not sure which critics you're referring to, since there are no reviews out yet... but I'd swap "relatable" with "resonant". The post-2008 political/economic climate is what makes a story like TDKR's more substantive, if anything.

'Dark Knight Rises' Opts For Lighthearted, Cartoonish Tone

'It's Fun, Like A Comic Book,' Says Christopher Nolan

HOLLYWOOD, CA—Stating that "the time has come for a tonal shift" in the blockbuster series, director Christopher Nolan announced Thursday that the forthcoming Batman film The Dark Knight Rises would take a lighter, more humorous tone than its predecessors, and would be filled with "slapstick, primary colors, and just plain old fun."

"I was somewhat happy with the first two films—probing the psychological landscape of Gotham from an adult perspective is sort of neat, if you like that kind of thing," Nolan told reporters at a promotional event. "But then I realized, 'Hey, what am I doing? Batman is a superhero. Superheroes are supposed to be fun and for kids.' So this time around, I wanted to make something nice and light and simple, because people aren't looking for a civics lesson with Batman. They just want some pleasant, mindless diversion."

"After all, we're talking about a comic-book movie here," Nolan added. "Let's lighten things up a bit, shall we?"

This was my first movie experience, at the age of 10. I wasn't even mad.

You're 8 years younger than me, then, because this was my senior skip day movie.

We drove 60 miles through a rainstorm high as shit - well, everyone but me. I'm such a huge JP fan that this was probably the most hyped I've ever been, for anything, ever. It was also the first thing I followed internet news for.

Sounds great but what the fuck, lol. I didn't get that impression at all from the stuff released so far.

edit: loool, never mind. The Onion.

I know it heavily takes from Tale of Two Cities (My favorite book). It's just more of a feeling than anything.

Also, all of the IMAX shows are sold out for a solid 3 days after release. Should I just see it at a regular theater first then go to IMAX?
