I'm sure all of the creative minds they have could've came up with a better title than the most successful movie in the franchise with the word 'Rises' added onto it. It's obvious they only used it because of the success of TDK.

You say that, but I haven't seen one better title since it was announced. The Caped Crusader? Shadow Of The Bat? Gotham? All utterly wank titles.

It will work in the context of the film.

How about simply Rise or Batman Rises?

Also, don't front - if WB had used Caped Crusader or Shadow or whatever, people would have absolutely jizzed their pants.

I'm seeing a lot of phoenix allegory with the whole 'Gotham is ashes' and 'Rises' phrase being tossed around. I'm sure Nolan could have come up with a fitting title that was in line with that without including 'The Dark Knight' in it.

Caped Crusader and Shadow of The Bat do sound like Schumacher titles, but TDKR just sounds so lazy.

Obviously "Rises" plays a big thematic role in the film, but would you guys have preferred "The Batman Rises"? Only problem would have been that it sounds sort of synonymous with "Batman Begins".

Besides the commercial benefits, I'm betting part of the reason Nolan kept "The Dark Knight" in the title is because he's not finished exploring the "White Knight/Dark Knight/hero with a face" theme from the second film.

That goes without saying. They wanted the film to have a title without words used in the past including Batman, seeing how TDK Returns would have worked, but its been used before.Title's fine for me. I lot better than putting batman or 3 in the title.

I still chuckle a little that "Rise" is the big phrase of the movie, with its connotations the the comic event Blackest Night.

My guess is, they felt they couldn't use Dark Knight Returns, Knightfall, or No Man's Land as titles. Only the 1st one would do as a movie title.

Rise wouldn't have worked, I think you need some sort of Batman identifiable word in there. Begins is an almost dross title saved by the alliteration, so don't think Batman Rises would have worked.

Not saying TDKR is a good title but it's making the best with what we have
vague as fuck Gordon quote, give me five

yep I bet Nolan and his bro made up the title.... I think WB lets Nolan do what he wants, the man had made them 3 bil or something.

I hated the title when it was announced. It has grown on me, and it's just a title, but I would have liked something a lot more creative. This is anal, but I think it's jarring that one is called Batman Begins, the next is The Dark Knight, two totally different titles-- and then the last one is the same as the one before just with one additional word.

That's what annoys me the most. It makes the Batman Begins title stand out.

Do you guys think the letterman slip from last night will result in even mor ticket sales as people will now really want to see it onthe big screen

You know, I really wish they had kept (or at least tried to) the 8 year jump a secret.

Yeah. It does two things:

a) make it seem like Bats' career has been ridiculously short (for realness I guess, can't have a man dressed as a bat running around forever without capture

and b) make a Dark Knight Returns adaptation moot when he's already returning.
