So I was sitting down today and I was thinking how huge these batman films are. There's so much anticipation and its prob going to take loads at the box office. Is this because of the quality of the source material, the quality of the director/actors, or both?

When Begins came out I had to beg people to come see it with me opening night. Eventually I gave up and had to go by myself (they then joined me a week later for my second viewing) but with TDK and now TDKR people are foaming at the mouth.

Is this because the Batman characters are so great or is it because Nolan is a genius?

What im getting at is...if Nolan had made say Daredevil or Wolverine or The Flash would the films be as big?
Is it down to his amazing talent or the source material that he's working with?

I dont even like Batman much as a character, I actually think he kind of sucks, but I'm so hyped for these Nolan Batman films. Im trying to imagine if I'd be as pumped if Nolan was making a Wolverine film or an X-Men film....would it be the same or does the Batman universe/characters just lend themselves to good movies?

They are big because people recognize that the movies are quality and because it's fucking Batman. Everyone loves Batman.

I'd be surprised if there was a single person who had an emotional reaction to Rachel's death. Personally though, I got more out of Rachel's death than I did from Ben's, if only for the shock value. Her getting blown up in mid-sentence was one of the "holy shit" moments of the movie for me.

I had a emotional reaction but it was how Harvey reacted that got me.

Well I just spent 50 bucks on a Batman t-shirt.

This movie needs to come out because it is making me make poor decisions.

Now that Katie Holmes is free, Nolan and Co should go back and re-shoot everything that involves Rachel for TDK, if only for the consistency of it all.

Pull a Lucas and digitally put her face over Gyllenhal's.

Not sure if you're being serious or not, but Stephens knew Gordon was alive, so in no way was it a plot hole.

Seems like he was probably the only one to know. They just played it in the movie completely like he was dead. The scene with Mrs. Gordon, Pissed off Batman in the Club, the cops on the roof with beer.

The other thing that always gets me, is Two Face in Maroni's Car. Yes, you can see him take out the one guard, meaning that's how he gets in, but the scene goes from Sal getting into the car, to car's in motion at highway speed (going by the moving scenery in the window), and that's when he notices Dent? Simple edit of the window would have worked, having it stationary (i.e. parked) and Dent telling the driver to "Drive."

Had Katie stayed, I would have gotten upset by it.

yep this is the main reason for me too... Maggie is a good actress and all, but changing people in sequels always takes away from the character. I probably would have cared about Harvey more too.
lol

No Ras resurrects Wayne's dad by digging up his corpse and making Bane.
In that bridge scene where Bane goes "Mr. Wayne" he's introducing himself.
Edit his mom is Catwoman

Go to a real one.

I prefer the smaller one personally. The large one in NYC gives me a headache. And you have to get there an hour before hand to get decent seats or you get stuck in the front which is a really terrible experience. I almost saw Ghost Recon like that though I wasn't even in the front. Maybe half way back. I almost asked for my money back.

What's the real difference between a real IMAX and a fake IMAX? The resolution? Or is it just the actual height of the screen?

These movies are just a different take on the genre. It's a comic book movie that can be taken very seriously and can fundamentally be considered good films. I think this is why Nolan was so careful with how he treated the characters. They aren't caricatures. They are very normal and grounded for the most part which means they are relatable which is rare in these films which is why just about everyone can enjoy them.

Batman is awesome, but no. Not at all.

Yea that argument has never made sense to me. He's a billionaire who lost both of his parents in a horrible fashion and is now seeking justice on those who do wrong. I can't relate to that... I kind of want to be that (minus the parental loss of course... )

Spiderman is more relatable to me.
