okay i literally thought during that ql "this looks like a korean f2p game from 2005" and then I looked up the original dungeon fighter and it totally is exactly from that time and place
So I watched the Deadly Creatures QL again because it's been a while, and I've decided that survival horror developers have missed the boat.
How is there not a spider/scorpion/rat/lizard/bug themed survival horror game? And no I'm not talking about Escape from Bug Island because giant versions are far less creepy. How is there not a game where your character wakes up, feels something funny on his feet, turns the light on AND THE GROUND IS MADE OF SPIDERS
I dont know how much that game's scares would actually work unless it had some wacky peripheral that let you feel the bugs on you.

You should watch the Deadly Creatures QL because it freaks Jeff the fuck out without a peripheral
Well yeah but you're pretty up close in that game most of the time. Stuff is always super freaky upclose, hell for a while I could barely scroll through a large image of hatchetfish when the same image scaled down didnt bother me at all.
Like he even says its the leg animation that gets to him the most. Im imagining it in my head, and I just dont think you're gonna get the full impact of that if you're mostly looking at them from a person's perspective in a videogame. Especially if you're going to need enough to cover a floor, like I dont know how good those would look.
maybe if your character was a child so you'd be closer to the ground
Okay... What if you're playing a roach in first person, and it's still survival horror.

Playing as an ant would be cool. Going through an ant hill in first person would be nightmare fuel, and that's when you're not in danger.
Quick Look: Dungeon Fighter Live: Fall of Hendon Myre (Jeff/Vinny - 28:16)
Korean online games always have disproportionally good music. I still have RO installed mostly because of the music folder. As cheesy as it is I kinda liked the music in that Quick Look.
Am I the only one who's getting tired of the "It looks bad like a Free 2 play game" line?
Not that F2P games are necessarly the highest standard of quality but they've come a looooong way in the last couple of years. Nowadays you can find F2P games that are actually better (gameplay wise and technical side too) than full paid games.
I mean...in the end there's shitty games in every category.
Even QL EX with Kinect are embarassing to watch when things don't work. Seeing Lang trying to blame it on not having seen the tutorial or not doing it right.

Anyone know if they plan to tackle Rhythm Thief at all?
Anyone else watch QLs for specific games in order to motivate them to play those games? For example, right now skyrim and GT5 are the active games in rotation. Yet I can't get myself to sit down and play them (note: I actually do want to play them). I'm planning on going back and watching the skyrim QL to get myself in the mood.
I use QLs in this manner fairly often.
More often I go back and watch them after I've started playing a game (if I'm LTTP) just to see what their impressions were at the time.

Quick Look EX: Dyad (Brad/Vinny + Creators, 36:56)
I have no idea what is going on: The Game. This game is tripping balls like crazy.

Honestly I thought we'd got over these pretentious style over substance indie games a few years ago. But here we are.
How is this style over substance when the game is very clearly skill and highscore based? It's almost like saying Tetris is style over substance.Honestly I thought we'd got over these pretentious style over substance indie games a few years ago. But here we are.
There is so much more to Dyad than the visuals. The game itself is an awesome psychedelic racing game, and as you get through the game it gets progressively harder and harder. Its totally a real game, and not just a bunch of trippy colours.
Not looking hard enough then.Really? From what I'm seeing it looks like a visualizer masquerading as a videogame.

It does look like that at first glance, i'll admit. But its actually a pretty awesome game. The colour matching gameplay and boost mechanics make it just so much fun to play. Also, chasing scores on the leaderboards is kind of addictive...
