Kenshin looks like a girl and fragile. Can't they find actors with more convincing physical stature? He doesn't have to be bulky since that's not how Kenshin in the manga but at least convince me that he has killer instinct and not some lameass Johnny idol to attract female fans.

He's supposed to look fragile and like a girl.

Don't you know how Japanese cinema works?

They turned Phoenix Wright, an awkward dork, into Mr. Handsome.

We're talking about Kenshin here. He looks spot on to me.

Not sure how I feel.

Trailer looks good (lot fucking better than Phoenix Wright). But the Japanese movies I've seen lately just have some awkward ass acting.

He is a tad too slim. But it's not dissimilar to what you'd expect a RL Kenshin to look like. Indeed, you might expect his face to be even more effiminate then the actor portrays it - simply because it was in his nature to be 'disarming'.

why does kenshi look like a kid, and why does he look like a girl.. .this is lame.. :/

the money would have been better spent on a hokuto no ken movie rather than this.

Pretty much. Kenshin was supposed to be effeminate and disarmingly beautiful...pretty much the exact opposite of one you would expect to be a legendary killer. Not sure why people are surprised; in both the OVA and the TV series he was definitely not a manly looking guy.

Have you ever seen an episode of Ruroni Kenshin? Despite being a legendary swordsman, he's never had the most intimidating look.

GOOD portion of the story ... there is even a frame with the scar bleeding at the end

Cool trivia : Baiken of Guilty Gear fame was created because the designer saw kenshin and was like "wow ! a female badass samurai ! awesome" ... and then they told him it was a dude xD

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
That seems like a pretty good representation of Kenshin. I love that Sanosuke and Saito Hajime are both in.

I'll definitely have to see this. I was addicted to Kenshin back in the day.

Never heard about this until now...

Seems like it keeps the spirit of the manga/anime but doesn't look like a cheesy cosplay fest lol...I'll keep an eye on this one.

Kenshin was 5'2" and 105 pounds.

If anything he's probably too big.

Yup. The whole point is that he covered his identity for so long because no one believed he could be the battousai.

Kenshin is supposed to look girly. Did you guys even read the manga/watch the anime?

Kenshin's voice actor was also female I believe.

Baiken was heavily inspired by Himura Kenshin, to the point where her initial physical appearance in the first game was a pallette swap of Kenshin. It is said that Daisuke Ishiwatari (the character designer) got the idea when he saw a picture of Kenshin and mistook him for a woman.

They changed a bit from the story like when Jinei claims to be the true battousai. Aoshi was also nowhere to be seen. I guess the movie would just take too long if everything went according to manga. I think the soundtrack " On ok rock " doesn't fit to the general atmosphere of Kenshin.

The fuck? He was that short?

Indeed.

The height and weights of the major characters are all in the little character guidebooks. Kenshin was the first anime outside of, like, Dragon Ball Z or Pokemon that I actually really got into, and one of the earliest forums I joined was a Kenshin fansite, back around 2001 - 2002-ish. One of the webmasters imported me one of the guidebooks (the Japanese, before they were translated) as a gift. It has been translated and released as a Character Profiles book at this point, but since it is pretty easy to tell where centimeters and kilograms are being listed. I remember these things from my nutty fanboy days.

Glad they're doing more with the franchise. Hope the anime gets rebooted at one point or they just animate the Enishi arc.

Same here! I wasn't really into the fansite stuff though. I got most of my Kenshin stuff alot earlier too since I have the French version.

About the movie, it seems they're following the new manga alot. I thought Yahiko and Aoshi were both in though?
