My prediction is that it'll have a higher RT score than Begins but a lower one than TDK. Probably somewhere around 90%.

Sounds like critics who only gave positive reviews to The Dark Knight for Heath's performance won't like this one as much.

Sounds about right. I can see this as well.

Looking through his past reviews, of the ones I've seen he has given every Marvel movie a good review and every DC a negative. Sure, the only DC one I've seen on his list was Green Lantern. But, Marvel fanboy confirmed!

Which is kinda expected and fine to me by now. I mean I loved the TDK but if I had any complaints, it was that Bruce and Batman are sort of pushed back to make room for Dent, Joker, and even Gordon. If TDKR keeps the epic scope and action of TDK but reverts back to the focus on Bruce that BB, then it might be the most perfect Batman movie ever.

That got me too. It's like he criticizes the entire audience of Nolan's Bat-films.

I read Batman comics. I have a pretty good collection of them. It's funny that I just never read Knightfall and he mentions that.
Batgaf is too old for this shit.

Didn't you get the. . Oh I guess you don't do memos

Seems like the safest action is to hold off on critiquing the criticisms until you've seen the movie.

No I mean two people can see the same thing and come away with complete different experiences.

Negative reviews are just as valid as positive ones. Its just odd when mass majority is overly positive and you get 1-2 negative. And even those are fine but then some reviewers add weird things like "like transformers" or compare it to the Bush administration? WTF?

I agree. But I think everybody knows what they're getting into with this movie.

The oft-repeated (and easily foreseeable) criticisms of this movie will be:
1) No Heath Ledger
2) The length (second act seems to be balancing a lot)
3) The convoluted nature of the storytelling
4) It's not "fun" like Avengers, so it's like a callback to the Bush administration. Or something.

Bale is such a fucking humourless bore in every interview. Christ, lighten up dude

I'm interested to hear Mark Kermodes review on this. Hey didn't like the dark knight at all but was very fond of Batman Begins. His reviews are always good

Can't stand Kermode.

I'm not saying someone's criticisms of negative reviews are or are not valid. I just consider it a good practice to see the movie before voicing them. It's the best way of warding off comments like "Quick! Dismiss the review Bat-GAF, lol".

I can't imagine anyone using this as a criticism.

Just seen The Dark Knight Rises. 5-star brilliant - totally delivered on the hype. Review up on @digitalspy later today.

As long as they aren't troll reviews for website hits like Armond White's, I'm fine with negative reviews. This one seems fine. Sure, the comparing the action to a Transformers movie seems dumb (especially when I see he gave Avengers a good review). But, from what I skimmed of the review he mainly didn't like how long the movie was and felt it could be cut down to tell a better story. Fair enough.

Looking at his other RT reviews, he isn't a troll reviewer. So, it's all good.

My favorite critics, like A.O Scott, David Edelstein, or Roger Ebert, I just love seeing them describe their reactions to anything. Films, books, car washing, paying taxes, whatever. It's really got nothing to do with the movie.

But if it's a movie that the critic/movie blogsphere is going crazy about, or a movie I'm hyped for, then I don't read a lot of the reviews because I want to go in fresh.

So yeah, I don't really have a lot of use for film critics, at least in this pre-watching stage.

I remember there being a negative review for Batman Begins that basically hated it because of plot inconsistencies with the Burton/Schumacker films. Poor guy thought it was a prequel...

So about 84 hours from now is when east coast, midnight showing GAF will be seeing this. I will have to Bale Out from that point til I see it Friday afternoon.

None of which will mean anything to the target audience of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” an audience too young to have been born, let alone old enough to read (or willing to read, for that matter), when the Bane storyline first surfaced in print.
Wait, what?
I kept telling you, we need college degrees to watch this film.

HA!

Holy shit! Where do you come up with this stuff?

I've barely looked at anything in regards to this film. I'm going in clean.

The Dark Knight Rises: 95%
Salute: 100%

TDKR isn't even the highest rated movie of the week. How the mighty have fallen. SMH

So about TDK's ending leading up to TDKR (and this might be a stupid question, I haven't seen TDK in long time), why would people believe that Batman would actually kill Dent? Weren't he and Dent on the same side?

Because he was a nutjob in a Bat costume running around the city. Why wouldn't the public think he was capable of murdering someone eventually?

Well, Batman was wailing on SWAT ten minutes before, so I guess things could be explained that he went a little loony.

That hurts me bro. You're on the list.

You're a good sport.

I'm one of the few that still says Avengers was a bad movie so I don't always discount negative opinions. Depends on the criticisms.
