Steam Summer Sales 2012 Thread 2: No One I Know Voted for Nixon

The prices and amount of games in these types of things make me a little sad I'm not a PC gamer and miss out on the fun.

My physical backlog is bad enough though, I imagine a digital one would be the end of me anyway so maybe its for the best lol.

Digital backlogs are best backlogs. They take up no space.
Unlike the stack of JRPGs sitting next to my PS2.

Fuck yeah you do

Sorry but FPS games are always better with a mouse and keyboard. I'm never going to agree with you on this.

Mirror's Edge isn't an FPS. ;P

Edit: Lol ^

Arken (gaffer) was very generous during the Xmas sale.

He gifted me Skyrim, Two Worlds 2, Dead Space 2 and From Dust. He gifted other gaffers some games aswell.

I've heard some people want this. What's the game about?

Receiving your father's debt, wondering where your father went, turning your house into a storefront, buying low selling higher, killing stuff then looting stuff then selling for profit. I have like 4 hours on the demo.

Ugggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... Steam, you're killing me! I have like 15 console games sitting sealed on my shelf right now. B.. but... but I just can't resist!

And I'm skipping quite a bit of stuff, too.

In a more serious argument, I treat Mirror's Edge more like a First Person Platformer, and all 3D platformers need an analog stick. I'll agree that aiming in first-person is always better with a mouse, but Mirror's Edge isn't all about that. It feels built for a controller, to me.

I even originally played it on a PC with mouse and keyboard. It wasn't until I tried the DLC I realized how much easier it was with a controller.

You don't actually need to be a PC gamer to join in the fun!

Most people in this thread don't even play games.

I spent years playing kz maps in CS and now I can't ever think of having trouble using m+kb in first person platformers. I know that shit like the back of my hand. To each their own though.

I hope Dead island goes back on sale. Wanted to grab a 4 pack so I could play it with some friends. Also want Renegade Ops. Has it been a daily yet?

Edit: Lol ^

I'm gonna side with Tess3ract and say ME is really fun with Keyboard and mouse, believe it or not I play FPSs' on a game pad even on PC, but I remember it was so much fun playing ME with the keyboard and mouse, it felt so fluid to run and jump etc.

Just a quick flick of a wrist with the mouse you could observe your environment while running, and see where the guards were ahead of you to dodge them (run in different path/direction)

Yeah man...K/M for me for ME.

just got The Walking Dead season pass. Hot damn now I am done. DONE DONE DONE.
I think I am.
Oh and I just hopped back into PC Gaming again around 4 months ago so I don't have many friends to play games on Steam (Squallsan) with. Add me for some co-op action in games like Borderlands which is so damn good.

Hey so I have a quick question on AC:Brotherhood. How is the city in that game, it's all Rome, right? For me, I enjoyed ACII enough, but I'm not totally desperate for more AC gameplay. But I really, really love poking around the cities an digging up the historical tidbits on landmarks and whatnot. Is Brotherhood as good as ACII with this? Better? Worse? If the environment is as good I'll probably have to pick it up just to cruise around.

I had the opposite experience, I thought the game was incredibly awkward with a controller but extremely fluid with a mouse and keyboard.
Unlike most 3D platformers ME doesn't rely on precise analogue movement, I found the ability to turn and look around quickly much more important in this game, which is why the I thought the mouse made my experience on PC much more fluid.

Exactly my thoughts.

Does anyone think Civ 5: Gods and Kings will get cheaper this sale? Or should I expect to wait until the Winter Sale before it's 50% off?

25% is the cheapest it will go this sale. It's the second time it's been up on the chopping block and it was 25% both times. Just wait for the winter sale. $15 is my personal buy point for it.

Do you have to see "The Walking Dead" to appreciate the game? I don't watch TV.

Nope, the game is based off of the comic series and not the TV show. Regardless, the game is a stand-alone story anyway, but just set in the same universe. It does have (and likely in the future will have) a few links to characters, locations, and story archs from the comic series, however. But I don't believe these are needed to like the game.

Dear Capcpcom:

Thank you for discounting SSFIVAE and DR:OtR 75%. I promise to buy the following, as well, if they are discounted as such:

Devil May Cry 4
Lost Planet 2
Resident Evil 5
Onimusha 3
Devil May Cry 3
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

That is all.

Anyone think Splinter Cell Conviction will get a Daily or Flash deal

it`s already on sale from some promotion, but I wonder if itll go cheaper...

Of course I fall asleep and miss the Amnesia deal.

Now I'm kinda tight. Smh. But knowing what's been happening.. It just has to repeat the sale. It just has to.

I just got gifted The Longest Journey, which is quite awesome. And I gifted someone a copy of PixelJunk Eden which was on their wishlist.

I'm so jealous of GundamBanshee. Awesome friends.
