I feel like it would be a big loss for that not to come full circle. If the last shot was Batman being killed (unmasked) then the bum coming over and laying his coat on him I'd actually be very happy.

In fact I'd be ecstatic.
I'd kill myself, my life would no longer be necessary. I've seen it all.

Wouldn't be a big Hollywood release without idiotic crap like this:

The character, as with the rest of the story, is the creation of David S. Goyer. Goyer is the co-writer of “The Dark Knight Rises,” which also shares a similar story featuring Bane as Batman’s primary antagonist, who starts a class war aimed against the rich and privileged of Gotham City with the backing of the common man.

Agreed. I liked that there were more comic book parts of this film than TDK, and a few more fist pumping hell yeah moments like in BB.

This pleases me.

I'm actually really happy that opinions are so varied on this one, at the moment. It made me deflate my ridiculo-hype balloon a bit, and will go in with a clean slate.

Still remain spoiler free, apart from having seen the main trailers and one liiiitle thing I caught on in a review, which isn't really that big of a deal. I consider that quite a feat, all things considering.

I would be an absolute mess, seriously. No amount of tissues would be able to hold my man tears.

From Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, Dark Knight Rises has already racked up $25 million in advance ticket sales, one of the best numbers of all time and underscoring the keen interest in the film, which returns Christian Bale in the title role. Newcomers to Nolan's blockbuster franchise include villain Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway and Marion Cottilard. Returning alongside Bale are Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Liam Neeson, who starred in Batman Begins, also is featured.

One veteran box office observer believes Dark Knight Rises could debut in the $185 million to $195 million range; Warners insiders say $170 million is a good starting point. "Anything above that is going into unknown territory," one insider said.

For reference, HP8 was at $32m.

I wouldn't be able to handle it if Batman bites the dust in this. I will bawl like a child who just had his dog killed right in front of him. :(

Last time I cried for a movie was Lion King... when I was like 8-9.

So I saw this last night (or this morning, more accurately). Since spoilers aren't allowed, I'll just say it was really really good, though I watched The Dark Knight for the first time in a while before and I'd have to say I prefer that one - though that by no means means this movie was bad.

Can I inflate it again?

I'm especially pleased to report that the action scenes, specifically close combat, is improved from the previous films, and is a huge leap up from Batman Begins' quick-cut confusingness. Considering the characters, this was a hugely important thing to get right, and I'm glad that they did.

Even Dark Knight was a touch above Batman Begins action scenes... the best fight scenes in Batman Begins were Bruce vs the "devil" and Bruce vs Ducard on the frozen ice.

If only Nolan did Mr.Freeze, then every action scene would be on ice and thusly, the camera could not get close enough to shoot dudes flailing around on ice.

I mentioned those 2 action scenes because A) they were shot in broad day light so you can tell what the hell was going on and B) Bruce wasn't in his Batman suit yet so he could actually move around without looking completely off.

Dark Knight action scenes were pretty meh too to be honest. Nolan isn't known for his top tier action scenes and I accepted that going into TDKR.

I thought that BB and TDK both had very good vehicular action scenes, but mediocre at best fight scenes. Strange, because I thought Inception's car chase was incoherent, but the hallway fight was brilliant.

That's not hard. The scene where Bats squares off with 4 LOS Ninja's towards the end is maybe the most poorly shot/edited fight scene I've ever seen in a high budget production. Like, seriously. I've seen the movie about 15 times and I still have no idea what happens in that fight

Batman hits a dude in the nuts with a bomb, what else do you need to know?

One hundred billion dollars.

100% agreed. Then again the fight scene in the building at the end of TDK wasn't that much better either.

My favorite action scene*. Nolan plays it tight, but it's intentionally supposed to be with regards to the SWAT guys getting tricked. There's still a logic to where it flows and great money shots like Batman tackling dudes off a ledge.

*in the Batman series

I would love it if Batman's fight scenes looked like the ones from the Arkham Asylum/City games.

I got the AA vibe from two scenes in BB and TDK; the docks where he drops in the middle of a group closing ranks and the night club scene where he goes after Sal.

THAT is the Batman I love. He won't kill you, but he will leave drinking out of a straw for 8 months.

Have they said how long it will take before there's another Batman film?

I imagine it'll probably be somewhere between five and 10 years. But I think at this point, given how much money this franchise is making, it's going to be closer to the five-year mark than 10.

WB : 18-24 months

I'm up for a reboot in 2 years.
