matalo matalo bane, bane.
matalo matalo bane, bane.
This isn't Resident Evil 4.
I don't understand your complaint.
Hahaha, it's not from RE4. It's what Kevin Smith thought they were saying at first during the early trailers.
Did bane ever claim that the backstory of Talia as his?
We literally know nothing about bane...
I really didn't like the Talia element of the film. I think she was poorly cast, and poorly executed as a character.
He said he was born in darkness, but thats not the case, talia was...
we don't know that though do we? We don't know if he was truly there since he was a kid. He could be plenty older than Talia. He was a grown man when she was a child there. He could have been a child there too.He said he was born in darkness, but thats not the case, talia was...
It's Resident Evil 5!

They didn't say she was the only one born in the pit. Just that a child born in the pit escaped.
They say at one point that basically he disappeared after killing Dent, so he probably hasn't been seen since.
well most people here seem to have loved it so neogaf reading doesn't affect everyone!Watched the movie tonight. This was no Dark Knight by any means. Cool scene was batman getting beat by bane. Lame scene was bane getting shot....wtf. Batman couldn't beat bane. The movie felt weak probably my least favorite out of the 3. I still like batman begins the most but I think some of my favorite scenes are in Dark Knight because of Heath Ledger. Avengers was a way more fun movie than The Dark Knight Rises. Also there was way to much bull to be OK with in the DKR. The truck not killing Gordon. The bomb being dragged across the ground with no explosion or it not blowing up when the truck dove off. It was a fun watch but it will be forgettable and I think maybe my hype was high from reading neogaf threads for so long.
I wonder if Talias death will be as groan worthy on my 2nd viewing. That was just bad.
True, but did Bane ever claim that he was the one that escaped? I felt like he did when he wand batman were fighting, but I might be confusing things.

also, I got a huge matrix vibe off that shot. Whe agent smith is beating neo on the train tracks.
Should have known it wasn't him, when he said "I didn't see the light until I was a man"
You take the original idea: mythical ancient prison with a hole to freedom that no one can climb except for one child, and that's Bane.
It sets up a really great backstory to the character.
Then throughout the movie they change that to show that he got in the hole because he's the mercenary's kid, and that mercenary is Ras. They show him climb out. But it's a she! (well that doesn't matter)
Do you not see how much lamer that is? We don't need to know those things except for the loose connection to Ras that was also completely unnecessary for the film. These mysteries (how did he get in the hole? who is this child? doesn't matter), are much greater when they're not explained and shown in detail. They add to the film and to the character.

This was the Rocky IV of Batman movies.
It will be infinitely watchable.
after failed climb out the pit
"i'll try again tomorrow"
"THERE IS NO TOMORROW, ROCK!"
No, I liked it. I dig the fact that we don't know much about Bane. Even though Talia was the one who escaped, we learned pretty much all we needed to know about Bane during those scenes. He was a monster and constant reminder of his wife's death, but to Talia he was a friend and guardian. The only shred of humanity and weakness he had was connected to her.
So no, I don't think it's lame that he wasn't Ra's son or that he escaped from the prison. Because it wouldn't have made sense anyway, he didn't have the same drive that Bruce and Talia had.
I still don't get it. How does seeing Talia escape make things worse? That whole thing actually made me sympathize with the 2 a bitI don't mean that I don't like that they changed who escaped - I don't like explaining the idea period. We know someone was in that pit as a child (him or Talia) and they were the only ones that climbed out. Explaining and showing the escape doesn't add anything to the film, it detracts from what was a very cool backstory
Just about to say this. You could drop that thing off a building onto the ground and it wouldn't explode. The bomb is a nuclear weapon not some stick of TNT. The two don't behave the same.
IIRC, the only confirmation about Bane's age range from Nolan is that "he's much older than he looks."We have no idea what their ages were, but you have to figure Bane was probably in his late 30s at the most, so he had to have been a "child" (probably early teens?) when he was protecting Talia in the pit anyway. Even if he wasn't born there hew as pretty young.
Should have known it wasn't him, when he said "I didn't see the light until I was a man"
well when you're caring for someone in a shithole for so long, you obviously develop a special relationship.I assumed that Bane's relation to Talia would be more than a protector/friend. When Talia stabbed Batman, it seemed as if they were more than friends but idk...

Why do people continue to say that Batman did not defeat Bane? He DID. Talis just showed up and stabbed him
She did say she loved him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Ra's plan was just to unleash anarchy on Gotham and let it destroy itself correct? Then why was Talia's plan to do that, and then blow it up? Was that really necessary? Was that the vision of her father? I really didn't like the Talia element of the film. I think she was poorly cast, and poorly executed as a character.
While I think I would have liked if they actually said Blake's name was "Dick Grayson" and not Robin, I understand why they did. Mainstream audiences don't know who Dick Grayson is. It also eliminates all the questions about his childhood, like was he a circus performer, were his parents murdered, all that stuff. It makes this "Robin" his own character, belonging to this trilogy of movies.
Cause Catwoman blew him away with the Batpod cannons.
Am I the only one who kept hearing the prisoners chant, "This is awesome, awesome"?
I still don't get it. How does seeing Talia escape make things worse? That whole thing actually made me sympathize with the 2 a bit![]()
remember when talia was going to detonate the bomb but it didnt work?
and the bomb was at 11 minutes til detonation.
then talia leaves, bane says some stuff, catwoman shows up and talks to bruce, talia goes and gets in a truck, batman shows up in The Bat...
and the bomb was at 10 minutes.
then talia drives down the street a bit...
and the bomb was at 5 minutes.
anyway, i think time wasnt adding up right in that section.
I was half expecting for Alfred to die.
Um ok that was after he was fucking STABBED and before that he kicked his fucking ass and busted up his mask
It just leaves a loose end with Bane's backstory. He mentions that he didn't see the light until he was a man, but he wasn't the one born in the prison... they don't mention two pregnant women being thrown in there. There is also the fact that Bruce being able to take that leap just like the child meant something. That he was ready to fight him for real this time. But the reveal kind of nulls that.
