but seeing Cane happy, and seeing Bruce with Selina....it made me have the biggest smile in the world.I still think they shouldn't have shown Bruce's face at the end. Just have Alfred look at the camera, smile, nod and then leave.
what happened to Joker in the last movie? Was he just put in jail once he was caught again? So does that mean he escaped when they released all the prisoners this time?
couldnt robin just be Azreal? I doubt a guy with the first name Robin is going to call himself Robin. Azreal just makes more sense to me. You know they are going to make more. Maybe they can even convince Nolan to keep going.

Batman is willing to die for Gotham, that is made clear in Begins. He doesn't need to die to prove his point. If he can accomplish what he is set out to do, without sacrificing himself, why should he die then? I don't understand why you insist that he must die for in order to complete his character arc. Reminds me of irreconcilable MGS fanboys who wanted Snake to die in MGS4 no matter what just for the sake of poetry or whatever the fuck.Because they build up this huge emotional climax and then like a cartoon 'no, Batman didn't die after all, lol'. Also, it'd show something about the Batman character, that he was willing to die for the order & peace he believed in, but 'nope invincible superhero, you don't even need that 'everyone can be batman' thing, not even important, only one batman bitches!'

But Nolan knew he didn't even have to think this far ahead because he's done with Batman. That's why the Robin thing was just a nice little send off. He was probably having fun with the fans who wanted him to include Robin, and with the fact that he and Bale have always been adamant that there would never be a Robin in the Nolan-verse. I doubt Nolan gives a shit about whether Blake would become Batman 2.0, or Nightwing, or whatever else.
Yeah because it would make a lot more sense for a police officer to be using a fake name for no apparent reason this whole time. That would have been a lot less dumb, you are right!
Exactly. This movie is the end. It was a simple nod to the fans
wait...does Batman have the "no killing" rule in the comics as well?
cuz I remember in a comic strip people link on here of him beating the living shit out of Superman saying something in the line of Supes not being able to do what is necessary

More better, they should've shown Catwoman in that chair and the back of Bruce, and right before he turns his head, end of scene.
I agree, would have been more poignant.

What about Selina? It also gave us a sense of completion for her character cause it showed that the Clean-Slate worked, and she chose to live with Bruce.
It doesn't matter what he calls himself because WB isn't handing the franchise over to JGL playing a non-Batman. This movie is about to make tons of cash. Batman is the single biggest comic book character in the world. They aren't going to make the next Batman movie w/o Batman. They'll reboot it in a few years with a new cast and director.
sorry don't know who that is. I haven't read comics for 14 years.Night Wing?

If Nolan did that, we would have another 50 pages of people arguing whether that was Bruce or not.
Thank god he didn't.

Wasn't her arc pretty much complete when she choose to come back and help everyone?

P.S. I think it's good that Bruce survived.
Almost every Batman story focuses on his tragedy, and how it almost always ends badly for him. Even Batman Beyond is kind of sad; he's all alone except his successor, and he dies still a largely alienated, brilliant, bitter, justice-seeking man.
This is an entirely different sort of ending for Batman that I've ever heard of. He gets the girl, has a well-equipped successor, has largely helped the people of Gotham solve their crime problems, and now lives as his own man, free of his past, of Gotham, of the cape and cowl.
A happy ending in a blockbuster movie is a subversion! Who would have thought.
Didn't really like the opening. Felt too much like TDK's intro. This super villain is incredibly smart! He will give Batman a run for his money
Exactly. The audience of Inception is completely different than TDKR. Besides, this sort of ambiguity in a comic book movie wouldn't really gel.
If anything, you folks should be complaining about the probability of Wayne, Selina and Alfred all meeting at the same spot in Italy randomly.

The first Robin grows up and becomes Nightwing.

this.
Was a fitting end to this movie as well as giving a unique ending for Batman, who in almost no continuity has a happy ending.
Only happy ending Bruce ever had that I can think of was finding out Terry is actually his son.
I just realized something: Autopilot might have been fixed before the stock market heist sequence.
should spoiler tag that Beyond info
Who says they can't have two series? Marvel has shown there is a market for universe sharing hero movies.
