Wait, people didn't like the "why do we fall" flashback? Really?

That was beautiful, both in the composition coming off the previous shot of Bruce hanging there, and the sentiment.

I liked it. I liked any of the call backs back to BB, and I looooved Judge Scarecrow.

The cops had just escaped from below and were immediately confronted. Not really time for a plan. Not to mention the bomb set to go off soon.

What about the fact that the entirety of the GCPD surround Batman on the bridge - guns drawn, and when Batman turns and FIRES INTO THE CROWD OF POLICE to hit the ramp, they all just stand there and watch as he drives off.

These are the worst goddamn cops ever. They're one of my favourite parts of the trilogy. I thank Nolan every day for continuing my beloved Police Academy series.

Were they authorized to shoot him, though? I don't remember if they wanted to catch him dead or alive. I would think they would want to take him alive. Yeah they kind of just stood there and did nothing, but there's not a whole lot they could do. They were definitely embarrassing, though. lol

I'm pretty sure the cops charging Banes men were acting as cannon fodder. They weren't looking to take control of the area, they were acting as a distraction so Batman could get to Bane to get the bomb so their families were not blown up in a nuclear blast.

I'm pretty sure that any officers that are fired upon will return fire when their guns are drawn.

A part that really stuck out from the tone of the film was when Bruce Wayne gets his leg implant straps and smashes a brick wall wearing sneakers. That was also stupid.

yea, about this. can anyone please explained what happened to his knee? i know they showed the doctor scene that his knees' cartilage was gone, but all the focus was on just one knee, and how did that brace magically remedy it? was it a cybernetic brace that used servos and hydrolics? he didn't have that brace when he was in the pit right?

8 years has passed by, the police force in TDKR has obviously deteriorated having no real prey or criminals to hunt for a while after they cleaned up the streets and with the Dent Act. The rank and file probably have little to no recent experience handling someone like Batman. And obviously having such an incompetent police officer in charge of the department highlights that too.

For Frodo!

And you know it didn't help that I just saw the Iron Giant for the first time a couple of days ago.

I'll give you judge Scarecrow, that was great. But the callbacks to BB just felt like they really did not value the audience's intelligence. It was spoonfeeding.
I thought that too but then after talking to some people I realized how few people have seen Batman Begins in relation to TDK. It's why there are very few flashbacks from TDK but more from BB, it's an older, less viewed movie. I can totally understand why Nolan did it, some people truly would've been lost without it.

Like if you hadn't seen Begins before you wouldn't get the impact of the scene where Batman reveals himself to Gordon.

If the cops were actually doing their job, they wouldn't need Batman.

Think about it!

while the DKR is far from being realistic, i would imagine the moment someone shoots such heavy weaponry would cause you to instinctively pull the trigger on your drawn weapon.

in this thread people have admitted to not seeing BB

which boggles my mind

To be fair that one cop did shoot at him in the tunnels. Stupid rookie.

Little confused about the leg injury Wayne had.

The doctor lists like 10 things wrong with him but then Bruce fixes it by wearing a brace?

To be honest, Prometheus crew wouldn't last a day in Bane's Gotham.

Superior technology. Same thing how in TDK he out detectives the GPD by using tech that allows him to map finger prints from bullet holes.

It's magic, like everything else in the movie. Blood transfusion identification, vertebrae disc punching, Super Mario 6-year-olds, international teleportation

The leg brace just fixed his ability to walk. All of the other things are likely still fully realizing problems. Good thing he retired.

Ah but in the pit.... he had his SPIRIT!

That reminds me of a little detail - when he defended himself at the construction site and killed the two henchmen - it was obvious it was his first time killing someone and he was disgusted by it.

I didn't realise the significance and similarity to Bruce until you pointed it out. Haha

That's funny because I had the exact opposite reaction. Thought they hit that nail a little too on the head when he threw the gun away disgusted.

yes, the Dent Act gave the justice-departments the tools to put organized crime away once and for all.

I'm annoyed Joker didn't have much of a legacy. Like obviously given the circumstances they didn't have much to work with (and they didn't seem interested in any sort of fan service), but I wish they turned Dent's fall into something bigger (it almost seemed to help more than anything). They also didn't make much of Joker's warning that they would turn on him/throw him in a cell since he was just as crazy... like, Batman wasn't around to be hurt and what he ended up facing was nothing beyond what he got in BB (he didn't seem to take it too seriously). It seems the main effect Joker had on Bruce's life (which he had to ultimately overcome) is Rachel's death making him give up on anything that wasn't related to Batman. That doesn't quite match up with what I imagined.

I feel like the trilogy could have connected a little better, in terms of themes anyway. BB and TDKR are perfectly linked, but TDK seems like a loose end or a detour in comparison.

That was the point of that scene? Uggh.

And I'm sure omniscient Bruce took this into consideration when picking out candidates for his successor

JGL's character is just so incredibly lame...holy crap

How come there weren't any games for the 2nd and 3rd movies? I know AA and AC were good but it seems they are just throwing away easy money with no tie-in games
