Man they really neuter Bane after the Talia reveal, he feels totally unimportant right then.
LOL MEDICAL SCIENCE:
-Oh, you've had a limp for 8 years? Why didnt you just slap on this this Bat-brace and *clang* fixed! Now why dont you just kick this conveniently placed cinder block. That shit was fucking terrible, specially when you know for a fact he doesnt even need the brace later on (he doesnt have it in the pitwhile he breaks the long jump record)
LOL MEDICAL SCIENCE 2:
Oh whats that? you got a vertebrae sticking out of your skin? Ill just push it back in! Then, you know, STAY IN PLACE for a few days, weeks, months and then you'll be fine! Good as new? Its good to know that in the world of Batman everything can be fixed so goddamn easy
LOL MEDICAL SCIENCE 3:
This one is short, but apparently after 8 years of not being Batman, getting in the best shape of your life is exceptionally easy. No muscle degeneration, no arthritis or muscle atrophy to speak of, just do some push ups and pull ups and bam, good to go. At least address these issues a bit more seriously, dammit.
Another issue I had is with the presentation. When Batman comes back after 8 years and when he returns to Gotham it was very, very anticlimactic both times. He just kinda shows up and aims a weird electro gun that we dont know what it does and .. I dont know. Theres no sense of grand entrance at all, just a "oh hey, Im back whassup"

cinder block was the brick support foundations of the mansionSo I really liked the movie. It had a lot of great stuff going for it, but thats no fun to talk about. Here are the problems I had with it:

The problem with these 3 things is that theyre not needed. This movie sells itself as a very serious experience, but when they pull medical issues out of their ass like this, it cheapens the whole experience and whats worse, it doesnt fit.

Last sticking point is the 8 year gap. Its too long. In order for it to make more sense go with a shorter gap, like 4 years or so, that way the lack of aging on Michael Cane isnt as annoying
This made me cringe. I think that was the point where I confirmed that shit movie was a disappointment.
Hyperbole at its finest. You must not enjoy watching anything do you?

I love the first two.

The scene when Batman first shows up was fucking amazing, I had goosebumps when the music kicked in.
Actually he seemed like a huge Nolan fanboy up until this film
So many necks were snapped but they always cut to a different shot right before it happens. Is this an over-the-top violence issue or were they too lazy to do the effects for it?

It was perfectly fine. Batman accidentally punched the mask and broke it. No one had ever beat Bane before, so how was anyone to know other than those Bane trusts that breaking the mask was going to get the job done?I thought the second fight with Bane was pretty awful. Bruce goes through hell in order to get back to gotham and fight bane but the only difference in how the fight played out was he punched the mask. Why the hell didn't he just do that in the first place?
As for the film in general I thought it was pretty meh. Better than Begins but I had issues with pretty much everything in the film. I'm going to see it again with my father so I'll see how it holds up with a second viewing.
When Bane killed the Wayne company guy that had taken over the board, I thought his scream was really weird. I like how the Mayor got blown the fuck up and no one in Gotham gives a shit.

I love the first two.
personally, I've yet to hear a weighty argument against this movie that would not also apply to the other 2 movies as well.

You must hate this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX9FSZJu448
Guy was crippled for 15 years with neck and knee problems. Couldn't walk unassisted and crawled upstairs. Did yoga for 6 months and can now run marathons. What the fuck science? What do you mean the body is capable of extreme transformations on its own?
And your second point is moot. He slipped a disc which are treated through massage manipulation and exercise
I don't know... I liked the first reappearance. But yea the second one was weird. He kind of made them stand on thin ice while he made his triumphant return. Don't see why he didn't put the flare closer.
Two Face has an eyeball that stays moist despite the fact that it has no eyelid. He can also say lines that contain the letter 'm' despite having no cheek.
Again with the anticlimactic complaint. What was he suppose to do, prepare fireworks as his background? Why would he broadly announce his presence like that? He was there to slap the shit out of Bane, not put on a show. And in this grand entrance, he made hundreds of cops look like utter fools by flying off in his batwing. I don't see how that's not grand.
I've said it before I think in the other thread. The previous two movies were about something. They had great themes and they explored those themes quite thoroughly, taking it's time. This movie is pretty much just a callback to the first and ends it in a very rushed, tedious and convoluted manner. It was a helluva drag.
Another thing I hated was the use of audio/music to bring up the spirit of the audience rather than performances or situations in the scenes. It was as bad as most modern horror flicks using loud audio to cheaply engage you.
Yeah I soo hate that, come on now.
The problem isnt whether or not its feasible, its the way the movie presents it that makes it look like it just magically gets better. Massage manipulation? The guy was hanging from a rope and told to stay there till he feels better? yeah, OKAY
I like how the Mayor got blown the fuck up and no one in Gotham gives a shit.
This really bothered you ? Like you actually thought about this during the screening?

Thats fine, its not a plot point its just visual stuff that gores with the character.

The point is that these films were never as realistic as people make them to be anyway. Nitpicking about implausible medical details doesn't hold a lot of weight.
It's 'heightened reality' after all. Not real life.
When did the mayor get blown up? Not at the arena, because only the playing field was destroyed.

Did you watch the movie? Almost every citizen was isolated and in hiding. It was suicide to go out unless you were a thug.

Yeah thats weird, why was the thin ice not so thin anymore? Nevermind that Batman has a bunch of stuff on, making him heavier.
Thats fine, its not a plot point its just visual stuff that goes with the character.
A scene of how he returns to Gotham or maybe play out the scene of his return a little longer would make a big difference, no need for fireworks and hyperbole.
So it's fine that Batman can jump off buildings and land on his feet with little repercussion, but as soon as his body heals at an accelerated rate, the movie becomes unrealistic.
Guys all three movies are unrealistic, but the themes and personal growth of the characters are why we watched and loved them.
People who comment on all this irrelevant nonsense are really saying they didn't like the theme and arc of The Dark Knight Rises. Which is fine, just say that instead of hiding behind the lack of realism.

Sure it did have some cool scenes, all of which have to do with Bane. But they were limited, his character was severely underused.

Im not saying anything that happen couldnt or shouldnt happen within the universe of the movie, but the way they showed it caused me to roll my eyes because within their rules it was explained with logic for 8 year olds.
And thats my entire point, a movie has to have narrative consistency. If it consistently presents itself as dark, mature and deep movie then dont half ass some parts that make it out as campy
Well stated. The whole premise of Batman or any comic book hero is unrealistic. Nolan made it as real as possible, but guys it seems some of you are mad because there were certain situations he couldn't explain to your liking which makes it more unrealistic to you.So it's fine that Batman can jump off buildings and land on his feet with little repercussion, but as soon as his body heals at an accelerated rate, the movie becomes unrealistic.

I thought it was strange that the two Batman vs Bane fights were just boxing matches. One of the things I find interesting about Batman is that he usually doesn't rely on brute force to win fights. He uses gadgets, misdirection, devices plans. In Rises, you don't see this side of him at all. I guess they hinted at it in the first Bane fight with that smoke bomb that seemed pointless, but that's it.
It would have been more powerful if the movie presented Bane as the violent monster and Batman as the non-violent solution maker. Show that violence doesn't solve problems, and never triumphs over careful planning and smart tactics. Instead, it's two dudes punching each other, and its ultimately won by women with weapons. Yay?
The entire scene was like 10 minutes total. He'd need something hyperbole to make a grander entrance than making fools of a thousand cops by bale-ing out in his giant flying armored car.
You're not making any sense whatsoever. What about Nolan's universe, specifically the universe that allowed Harvey Dent's half face to go untreated, is inconsistent with what happened with Bruce?
Oh, yeah, Bruce screaming in agony while the guy pushes his vertebrae in and him struggling through the months in obviously painful self therapy is silly completely silly and not dark at all.
