I loved the movie, but I am a bit bewildered at the rating it has. In the UK it is a 12A, which I thought was a stretch for The Dark Knight, but I actually thought this movie was a lot more graphic with people getting stabbed, shot, neck snapped. Does anybody else think it is quite a low rating.

The movie is certainly quite violent but I thought it was considerably tamer in content and mood than The Dark Knight. Bane was fond of snapping necks but the Joker's "pencil trick" is on another level. And TDKR doesn't have a character walking around with half his skull exposed (as silly as that was).

The entire mood of The Dark Knight was bitter and nihilistic, much more so than The Dark Knight Rises. Neither of these are exactly for little kids but there's no way I'd consider this more graphic or disturbing than the last film.

Are stocks really traded using fingerprints?
Try not to think too hard (or at all) about that entire plot point. The idea that a massively fraudulent block of trades could leave a billionaire almost literally penniless--to the point where he can't afford electricity!--might be the silliest thing in three movies about a man dressed as a bat.

even the most egregious plot hole in the movie, in this case Bruce getting back into Gotham somehow, didn't especially bother me. A five-second shot of Bruce taking a secret tunnel into/out of Wayne Manor or something wouldn't have actually made the movie any better. I don't see the point of getting hung up about it.

But even that wasn't such a huge leap of logic.

We already know that Bane and co let emergency relief, food, and supply trucks in all the time over the one bridge that they didn't blow up -- which means there were ways into the city. Plus, let's not forget how Batman escaped Hong Kong (which was much tougher to pull off) or the fact that the city is surrounded by copious amounts of water.

Just got back. I can't beileve I didn't see the Talia twist coming. Just like in Batman Begins, I just took everything at face value. I guess that's a good thing, I got to enjoy the twist, but I can't believe Nolan got me again with this. My comic book knowledge just turns off when the movie starts.

Begins suit looks so much better, though. Bane would've just been unable to hit Batman in order to not fuck up that beauty.

Exactly. Bane would have been shaking in his parka if he say that beast of a suit coming towards him. Bruce then could have sprayed him with fear toxin and brought back out DEMON BATMAN from BB for the final fight.

It seems as though a lot of people are confused about how the cops were able to get big crates of food but not be able to be busted out. From what I understood from the movie, it was Bane giving the cops food and not Blake. Bane explains later in the movie that he wanted the cops to survive the explosion so that the new Gotham would be built on law and order if I'm not mistaken.

After watching the RedLetterMedia review (they liked it a lot), I can't believe I missed one specific huge plot whole. Its daytime during the stock exchange raid, Bane's man then says it will take 8 minutes to finish uploading. The escape on their bikes and Batman tracks the guy with the tablet down, and its night time!

Bane's mask filters the air :/

When Begins Batman tells you to inhale that shit, you obey.

Was it? I thought Batman just EMP'd all the lights and power?

By this point in the film, every single major character except Gordon knew Batman was Bruce Wayne. The reveal to Gordon was so empty as a result.

I appreciate critiques like this much more so than "But how did bruce get back in gotham!??!" It makes me think that maybe Nolan used too few flashbacks rather than too many. I can appreciate grounded thinking that demands logistics but if Nolan leaves out certain details that he expects the audience to be able to piece together themselves, then of course the audience will find fault with those details if they refuse to do so.

As for your specific point, it resonated with me simply out of my investment in Gordon as an individual, but over the course of the plot I do think that Bruce Wayne became a bit too comfortable with the constant discovery that he's batman. I don't recall him being especially shocked or worried when either Officer Blake or Bane admitted to knowing his other identity. Although it's kind of interesting that Blake talks to him as Bruce Wayne and lets him know that he's aware of his alter-ego as Batman while Bane talks to him as Batman and lets him know that he's aware of his alter-ego as Bruce Wayne.

Yeah I noticed it during the film itself. It nearly happened again later in the film, but there was a shot of Selina Kyle on the batpod at dusk/dawn which made the transition work.

His broken spine was fixed by punching it back into place and hanging on a rope for a few weeks.

I don't think they were worried about explaining the leg.

This...but with that said the movie was still great. BB is still my favorite but I love how they set up the Robin story line IMO.

for some reason "you can't even mind your surroundings" is the best thing in this thread so far

How did Joseph Gordon Levitt know that Bruce Wayne was Batman? That was a bit contrived. And I thought the flashbacks from the previous films was pretty lame. The end when Batman tells Gordon about putting a coat on a boy and then it flashes back to him doing that to little Bruce Wayne. And then on top of that he says "Bruce Wayne." Come on! IS the audience that stupid that you have to spell out everything for us?

Question: so was Bruce hobbled for 8 years because of that fall at the end of TDK? I was waiting for them to explain why he was so crippled because he appeared rather mobile at the end of that scene.

There's no logical reason everyone wouldn't know he was batman by the end. This famous billionaire 'son' of the city disappears for seven years, returns from presumed death and a crime fighting hero who clearly has a big budget appears. Batman disappears for eight years, Bruce Wayne becomes a recluse. Bruce Wayne resurfaces, Batman is back. Batman is seen to be blown up by a nuke, Bruce Wayne is pronounced dead.

Lazy writing.

Watch the scene again. He is CLEARLY limping when he runs to the Batpod to escape the cops/dogs. The fall destroyed his knee.

Going by this thread, yes.

Really wish Batman would drop his rules for a minute and fire into that gang so the cops wouldn't have to rush into gunfire, or at least shoot up a distraction.

The side-swapping femme fatales bit was a little too Bond.

So sad this trilogy is over. =(

Have you seen some of the things people have complained about here? I've seen people complain that there was no foreshadowing about who Miranda really is. On one hand people are saying that certain points were driven home too directly, yet on the other hand there's a whole swath of people who probably would have missed every point that wasn't delivered in such a manner.
