Honestly, I actually completely forgot about the Gordon/coat/young Bruce thing myself, so I appreciated that flashback, lol. I hadn't seen BB in a while anyway.

I don't think I'd consider a flashback to a movie from 7 years ago "dumbing down" anything.

Not that it was dumbing down, just that it was unnecessary. Of course he's talking about Bruce Wayne, who else is the audience going to think of?

Now that everybody's seen it, can we please talk about how ridiculous the shot of Selina spinning around that prisoner's wrists was? It was goddamn hilarious. Then Nolan just cuts away after nothing happens. It looked so bad. I laughed.

All I know is that at the end of the film, Nolan forever ruined my favourite scene in the whole trilogy.

I'm never going to be able to watch the scene in BB where Bruce embraces the swarm of bats without thinking of goddamn JGL. Damn, you Nolman! I curse your house!

Que? That's actually one of the few times in the film where I really appreciated the "lool full circle" shit.

It was clever and an awesome addition to the scene to have him swarmed by bats.

Toss up between Bruce climbing the well and the final shot of the film for my favorite scene in this movie.

And I'm with ma boy I Push Fat Kids. There are so many problems with this movie. But...it's fucking Batman. And it has such a satisfying ending (imo) that I can't really dislike it. Sure I put it below the first two, but it's still a pretty damn good trilogy when all is said and done.

Now Inception doesn't have Batman in it so I can definitely point out the flaws in that and call a spade a spade.

What was up with that scene? lol. I don't even think they showed the prisoner's reaction to it or anything. It was just an excuse to have her cartwheel

Second only to her operating the window cleaning platform with her foot, despite her hand being there. I wanted to write a strongly worded letter at that point.

I guess they were trying to establish that she could take care of herself in a men's prison. I thought the whole idea was rather silly. Nolan basically needed her to be at Blackgate for the prison break.

Yes! What the hell was that even about? After watching the trailer you'd think she was planning an escape.

The only thing that annoys me about the whole "mother's necklace" thing is that Joe Chill yanked the necklace off Martha Wayne in the first film, scattering all the pearls. I guess I have to assume that someone gathered each pearl at the crime scene. :D

Or maybe she had another necklace. The Waynes are filthy rich.

Which brings me to a glaring inconsistency... Why was climbing the cave this riotous faux-pas then, but when Bruce is there, the policy's just "Oh yeah, dude, you wanna climb it? Sweet, take as many tries as you like.

While Bane was imprisoned, the local warlord ran the prison as little more than a hole to throw people in, violence was common. With the pit under Bane's control, he wants the prisoners to feel like there is a possibility of escape only for them to fail every time they try the climb. He wants to slowly break their spirits. Under Bane your spirit is what is at risk in the prison, not your body.

Her mother was a victim of rape, and she was going to be next. Bane didn't want to let that happen, obviously.

If you put it like that Bane's actually a pretty nice guy. He takes care of the little girl and gets severely injured to guarantee her safety, rescues Gotham from the lying and corrupt. Sure he kills people but they were all dirtbags anyway. Mostly. Sure he destroys the Batman but the Batman was arrogant and reckless confronting Bane after an 8-year hiatus and needed to be punished.

If Bane was truly evil he would've just killed the 3000 policemen but he goes out of his way to ensure their survival.

Yep.

And I haven't even taken my father and son to watch it. I'll probably see it a few times in August too. My friend is going to come up in a few weeks and she is holding off seeing. So yeah at the least I will watch it five times.

I plan to see it at least twice more. Once more with a different group of friends, and once more next month when I will be visiting a city with IMAX.

Yes I noticed the necklace inconsistency last night watching BB on FX. Chill rips the necklace and you hear the pearls break apart. Maybe little Bruce grabbed all the pearls and put them back together off-screen. Or just a production error. yea, production error. pretty big oversight though.

Where there some dialogue as to how dangerous Selina was for the womens prison so she was in blackgate? Thought that was pretty badass.

Yeah maybe someone repaired the necklace and returned it to the wayne family because its a pricless memento? Thats really a stretch

Your punishment must be more severe.

Watched the movie yesterday morning. Could not believe how crowded it was for the first early screening of the day. All of the 480 seats were taken.

I absolutely loved this movie and rate it higher then TDK because of the sheer fact that all of the characters strengthen the movies, and not just one character (The Joker). Bale did a much more tremendous job in portraying a Bruce Wayne that is caught between two crossfires. He is done with being Batman but at the same time felt obliged to help the citizens of Gotham one last time. That, and his strong father/son relationship with Alfred, made his role actually fit in the movie.

Bale. Goddamn Tom Hardy, you were bloody perfect. The way he used his voice with the character made it a lot better. Bale was smart, strong and an enemy that everyone feared. I also believe that we all witnessed the best fight scene in years. The tone of that fight with a dark atmosphere and no music. That was just god tier.

JGL has shown me that he is a very versatile actor. Anna Hathaway played a much better Catwoman then Michelle Pfeiffer and I absolutely loved Comm. Gordon.

This movie was a fitting end for the entire trilogy. I can not wait to see this again in Bluray.

Holy fuckin shit there are a lot of people in this thread who had trouble following this movie..

I assumed in this movie that it wasn't actually his mother's necklace and that was just a story he was using. Why would his mother have built a tracking device into the necklace? The technology wouldn't have even been available back then.

Bane was twisted via his experiences, but it's clear he's a pretty bad dude. He was intending on blowing up the whole of Gotham, so those policemen and the rest of the people weren't exactly going to be very safe for long. :p

He pretends to care for the plight of the lower classes but he really just wants to wipe out everyone, as essentially a puppet for Ra's al Ghul, who considered the entire city to be decadent, corrupt and beyond saving.

Your punishment must be more severe.

For Bruce, it would have been, had he not escaped. He was Gothams protector, forced to watch his city burn while he's stuck in a hole halfway around the world.

More like Bruce had the tracking system built into it, as it was extremely precious to him.

He put the tracking device in them?

They look identical to the BB pearls, at the very least. I assume someone gathered them from the crime scene and Bruce had them put back together or something.

yea i was agreeing with you :)

why did it take 5 months though? because the plot required bruce that amount of time for bruce to recuperate :p

It's not a faux-pas, they just wanted to have sex with her, and her leaving would prevent that.

Still, I could imagine more than one or two inmates would've wanted their way with Bruce Wayne...

Haven't seen that little exchange between Selina and Bruce mentioned:

(Paraphrase)
"I'm sorry to hear about you losing all your money"
"No you're not."

Got a chuckle out of me.

Saw this on Sat. morning with some co-workers. 9:05am IMAX showing...probably the earliest I've ever been to the theater. :lol

Great finale to the greatest comic book trilogy, as of yet. JUst a very well done movie throughout.

Bane was excellent...about the best the villain could be done in Nolan-verse. SAme with Catwoman. Both actors did an awesome job. Anne is so incredibly hot. :) Robin/Nightwing/Batmanv2.0 was set up nicely.

I think my only complaint would be the lack of Batman in the movie. I know the lack of Batman made sense in the story-arc, but damn, I would've like more of him in the movie. And also, the Occupy Wall Street political stuff annoyed me a bit during the movie.

Overall, Rises is an awesome movie. For it goes, TDK=TDKR>BB. And I'd put it just a notch below The Avengers in the "fun" category, but both movies are on opposite sides (Fantasy vs Realism) of the spectrum that it doesn't even matter. Comic book fans should just be happy we got 2 awesome movies this Summer.

In-laws in town and too busy to go for 2nd viewing this past weekend, but the wife & I will watch it this upcoming weekend.

I may have just read the scene wrong. I got the impression from something about their initial interaction and the scenes following (don't recall what exactly) that he had basically planted something with a tracking device to catch this cat burglar that had been stealing from people but it doesn't look like anybody else got that impression.

The Occupy stuff didn't seem very pro-99% if you ask me. I felt bad that Bruce lost billions of his net worth, and the film portrays how shitty society gets when the masses are entrusted with nice things.

Nah the rebels were all blackgate inmates and it didn't really paint the picture that the hoi poli were taking up Bane's cause. Batman represents the 99% and Bane is deluded into thinking he does.

The whole "Gotham tears itself apart"-angle that Bane was going for was kind of underwhelming. It was mostly Blackgate inmates tearing the rich & famous apart. Regular folk didn't give two shits, like they were like 'LOL, yeah, nuke, one of holds the trigger, blah blah, Batman will save us, so we'll just sit this out.'

Did you miss the doormen throwing the wealthy out of there homes.

Yeah that was kind of weird to me too. The "everyday joes" kind of acted like nothing was going on.
