I think I'm the only one who DIDN'T see that coming. :lol
I didn't see that coming. I did foresee Bruce's girlfriend betraying him, but I didn't think she would be the "true" mastermind. It's like, how would Bane know of the fusion reactor? And when Daggert (or w/e his name is) wasn't made in charge, Bane said things were going to plan. It could only be Mr. Fox or Bruce's girlfriend, and one of them has had many other opportunities to fuck Bruce over and didn't. Her being the little kid that escaped surprised me though. That confused me during the movie too: they said Bane was broken in the prison, but the little kid escaping looked okay. I just assumed it was an inconsistency :p

I also thought it was obvious that Bruce wasn't dead when Alfred was crying at the graves. Even then though, I didn't think they would close things up with the cafe scene.

And was anybody else annoyed that everyone pretty much just stared right at a nuclear blast and didn't go blind or anything? I know it's a nit pick, but I mean... that's common knowledge and it wouldn't hurt to just have someone yell "QUICK SHIELD YOUR EYES!" and show everyone turning away a second before the blast.

Finally watched it. Movie was pretty good, but I definitely feel BB > TDK > TDKR at this point. That aside, the first page of this thread made it all worthwhile. HOLY SHIT @ Deadly Monk. Roflmao. Where is he and why hasn't he posted again? LOLOLOL.

Is it possible to ban people that say shit like "Ban me if none of this is true?" Or do we just sit there and laugh as every one of his posts is shot down? Either way, reading his posts made me laugh so hard.

Blake's "no mask" thing definitely suggested Nightwing to me, since that costume just has the silly eye-mask that shouldn't really do much to conceal one's identity.

Blake is gonna train his army of orphans. And seriously, you think Bruce didn't leave him a nestegg to finance him for a couple of years? The guy was Batman, his contingencies had contingencies

I know mods don't enforce ban bets but technically he asked for it himself.

Death by exile!!! Hahahaha. You know, the movie had some REALLY funny lines. I was surprised by the level of dry humor in the script. I wonder if it's part of the influence A Tale of Two Cities had on the movie (aside from the really obvious overt influence lol).

I was hoping Scarecrow would have had a bigger role. If I were Nolan, I would have made it so that the Scarecrow was put into the "Bane pit" as punishment for him failing the League of Shadows before, and possibly becomes a "doctor" of the place. And Bruce gets put into the prison, only to meet his old foe. Scarecrow uses fear toxin and other things to torture the fuck out of him, and Bruce eventually embraces the fear and finds a way out of the prison.

It's not very fleshed out, but I think Nolan missed a gigantic opportunity with that.

Yes but I'll rather we shame him into giving an explanation first. It is very strange for someone to do something so stupid, especially since it's just a matter of time before the movie opens and everyone sees it.

I thought the film was pretty funny, the best bit being Selina telling Bruce she's sorry he's broke, and he says she's not with a cheeky little smirk.

Some people just want to watch the thread derail.

That 15 minutes of online gaming messaging board fame lol.

My favorite line is still that slow blade quip when the nuke didnt go off hhaha.

That was pretty much a self-aware moment about how the movie is really abusing the "bad guys can kill the hero so many times but they just drag it out until they fail" story trope. I found the line kinda ironic and sad. :(

Even Bane had a moment with his cheeky "that boy has a nice voice, a very nice voice!" at the stadium as he just stands there about to blow shit up. I lol'd

I still find it Odd that Batman Begins is so many people's favourite of the three. They are all great movies, but TDK is the best for me. TDKR and BB are equal second, although I know a lot of people here don't believe that.

The best line was indeed the "So that's what that feels like" Got a chuckle from my Cinema (theater)

I'm glad I watched it in IMAX after seeing this:

I never actually knew the difference between regular widescreen and IMAX was so vast, I'm assuming the DVD or Bluray will be in widescreen and not IMAX? Do TV's even go to IMAX resolution for a reasonable price yet?

"There's no money to steal here!"

"So why are you people here?"

Bane was a lot of fun. I just found myself wishing there was more of him.

yea man. that whole scene with the music was flawless.

I know some people have criticized Zimmer's score in TDKR, and it may not be one of those soundtracks that's all that fun to listen to separately, but man there were so many moments when the music and what was happening on-screen gelled together so damn perfectly. And really that should be the #1 goal of a film score.

I thought he says "What a lovely lovely voice!"

Either way, that scene was fantastic and his reference to the singing was hilarious.

You know what I didn't like about TDKR? The way they did the referencing to the previous movies. I find that element amateurish on Nolan's part and really distracting. Every time the movie has any reference at all to the previous two films, or any previous scene was mentioned, they had to actually SHOW that scene again. Really bad form. We're not idiots Nolan, we get it! It just kept happening all the way to the end. When they cut to Gordon/young Bruce at the end there, I literally rolled my eyes.

Didn't really enjoy it that much, but opinions are obviously subjective. That football scene was inexcusable in this day and age though. I audibly groaned. As bad as the dog scene from ID4.

I agree, I felt the same way. Needs more death by exile! Lol

The blu-ray TDK actually chaged aspect ratio during the imax scenes

People wouldn't have got it otherwise. My family saw both the first two films but had no idea who Ra's was, nor did they remember the League of Shadows. The flashbacks were clumsy as hell (except the Two Face ones) but people just wouldnt have got it without them. The movie relies very strongly on detailed knowledge of the first two. For a lot of people, the movie would not have worked without them.

You'd be surprised how many people didn't see the previous movies. My sister didn't see Batman Begins, and she was asking me about the flashback scene with Ra's Al Ghul talking about his wife. Plus it was just a little reminder, they were fine to me.

Also, this is how Nolan always handles flashbacks in all his movies - with quick cuts to previous scenes.

It will go to 16:9 for the IMAX shots as opposed to 2.35:1.

If you write a movie which requires detailed prior knowledge of other films to work, and you cannot communicate those points to people without using terribly handled flashbacks, it is a poor choice to begin with. That's a fact.

Have you not read this thread? At least 10 people think Bruce was dead at the end. A bunch of people didn't know Bruce fixed the auto pilot. A bunch of people didn't realize that Gordon was SURPRISED at the light being fixed. At first I took these complaints as yea, he should have faith in his audience, but after reading this thread? No. Absolutely not.

nice. I don't have the balls to tell people off. there were two girls sitting right next to my wife who kept doing it and i wanted to throw their phones down the aisle.

When I watched Brave, some lady in front of me was texting during one of the action scenes. I just got super annoyed when it took more than a minute, tapped her shoulder and said excuse me.

And when I watched some movie a few months ago, these freeloading kids came in and sat near us and were talking. I was super pissed and asked them if they minded, so they shut up. I hate when people try to ruin my movie experience, it's not THAT cheap to watch movies here in my city (Vancouver, Canada) and I just want to enjoy the damn film. Fuck people, especially teens.

Yeah and people still dont get it, sadly.

from what i've read, actual 15/70 imax frame resolution is around 12,000 horizontal pixels. wikipedia says imax digital is "about 12,000 × 8,700 theoretical pixels or 6,120 × 4,500 actually discernible pixels." basically even the lower res imax screens are many times higher than 1080p

i'm assuming the bd will probably be the same as TDK with switching aspect ratios

I wasn't bothered by the flashbacks, but they did seem unnecessary in delivering the point.

I had zero issue with the flashbacks. The majority of the flashbacks were only 2-4 second flashbacks, and most of the viewing audience don't remember those moments from Begins (or maybe even saw them in the first place). Of couse, one can certainly argue the effectiveness of such short flashbacks, but I didn't mind Nolan's use of them.

Just didn't think it was a big deal worth complaining about, personally.

It's not about having faith in the audience, it's about having respect. Making a movie based on faith on the audience means you're making something for the lowest common denominator. Having respect for the audience means you expect that some people will not get it, but you are rewarding those who do.

If a filmmaker has less respect for the audience, then the audience who gets it should have less respect for that director. It's not a deal breaker but it is an annoyance nonetheless.

score for the climb and Batman's first intro were perfect.

Yeah well, after it was explained a million times what inception and after the movie people asked, i dont understand it still.....well....
