I think the purple is a mock-up, the transparent one is a pic from "Iwata asks: 3DSXL".

Whether something similar will ever be sold is anyone's guess.

As far as I know. I'd be very happy to be corrected.

Thanks for the info. Lack of transparant one will make me get the blue version.

Woooot, my shop (in which I preordered my XL) just posted this photo on their facebook:

Tomorrow, then :D.

My Red 3DS XL just shipped from Zaavi! That was much earlier than I thought it would ship out. I'm in Australia, so perhaps they shipped it a few days earlier so that it'd arrive closer to release.

I'm glad that I waited for the next revision of the 3DS. The improvements in the XL version seem fantastic. I will definitely be buying this along with RE:R, KH:3D and Theatrythm soon.

Ugh after looking at the blue model some more I did a pre-order on it and paid it off 100%. I'm such a bipolar Nintendo fan that I'd be trying to convince myself to not buy it on launch (to wait for silver or all black) and it'd be such a waste of energy worrying about something as stupid as console colors. Can't wait for it now! I pre-ordered NSMB2 along with it.

Are they selling the charger stand for the XL in North America?

Is it true that Game are allowing you to do the data transfer at home, then bring the 3DS in later for a full trade in value equivalent to if you had done it at the time of purchase?

Yes but you have to pay the full amount in cash or credit and then get the money back that you would have had off as instore credit, they won't refund you the full amount in cash.

So its spend £79.99 at the store and do the trade in there, losing all eShop games etc.. or pay £179.99 then take your 3DS home, perform the transfer, come back and receive a £100 gift card to be used instore only.

Ah, thanks for that. Not a great deal then if you don't want credit, I might not bother.

I would check with staff at your local store though as no-one seems to have the same answer in stores with regarding deals like this. You might get lucky but everything seems to revolve around in store credit these days. They won't even refund pre orders any more they will only move the pre order onto something else.

I'm hoping those GameStop rumors of a high-incentive trade-in (and allowing data transfer in-store) from OG to XL are true--everything I see about the XL makes me want to upgrade. But I'm worried that it'll be $100+ to upgrade, since 3DS has been sold as low as $140 new during sales. As much as I hate shopping at GS, they're the only ones to make such a trade easy--doing it elsewhere would mean paying up front and having to sell the OG yourself, or at a highly reduced trade-in.

The last deal I did like that was with my white Wii--I believe I had to trade in two controllers and the Wii + all cables to get a black Wii, and add $50. That really wasn't that bad, considering my Wii at the time was having storage issues (had to reformat it to get it to work, which is why I did the trade) and one of the controllers occasionally had accelerometer issues.

Unfortunately the only way they can do something like that with the 3DS is to include game trade-ins. If it's any game, I should go stock up on $5 steel divers at Best buy >.>

Best Buy gave me $75 for my PSP 1001 the week the Vita came out if you traded it in for that, so they may have something special for 3DS owners.

:lol you were so set on waiting for a silver model!

I didn't give two craps about the DSi XL, thinking it was mostly a low-effort cash grab. I prefer my handhelds pocket-sized. But god dammit if this thing doesn't look amazing. The bigger screens and grip are perfect for 3DS and I'm so tempted to swap mine in. If they come up with a 2nd stick solution I can slap on like with 3DS then I might have to go all in.

I don't want to wait 6 months just for NoA to get their shit together. When the next 3DS revision comes out I'm going to wait for a color I want. I just bought a bunch of DS games and my 3DS screen is like micrscopic. Blue sucks but I guess I'll have to deal with it.

I'm waiting for White mostly because my 3DS is black and the white border around the top screen is a lot more appealing to me than a black one. I almost always prefer white to Black.

It better be the first new color they release >:(

man i just CANNOT decide, it's too hard...

Blue, Red or Silver?? , I really don't know which looks better in person... I already have a blue PSP, a burgundy DSi XL and a silver GBA.
