I'm pleasantly surprised that it isn't JUST for iPad. I just hope it isn't only for 4s.

For people who have played this, is it a traditional adventure game or something a bit more fast-paced?

Have to say I'm tempted by Super Ox Wars: http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/906066-super-ox-wars-review-psychedelic-shooter

Can anyone please let me know the best Minter game? Preferably one that's accessible and solid rather than crazy and wacky. I tried one of his games and just didn't know what the hell I was doing.

Super Ox Wars is a really fantastic vertical shooter, it's quite brilliant. I'd say my favourite Minter game is probably Gridrunner, it's just the most frantic and mesmerising shooter I can imagine, very nearly perfect. But most of his games have some charm. He's poor, buy all of them and then tell your friends.

Is Angry Birds Space HD worth the $2.99? I bought the regular and seasons editions for iPhone, and got the HD Seasons edition from that free promo. I hate the Angry Birds gameplay, but I loved the free trial edition of space.

I have a love hate relationship with AB.

I love the original game, love Seasons while absolutely hate Rio. Rio is a qucik money grab nothing more.

Space on the other hand is amazing. It puts a fresh, interesting and very clever spin on the AB mechanics.

Of course the best levels in Space (Danger Zone) are behind a IAP paywall... fucking Rovio... but the base of the game is really, really good. In fact I cannot go back to the non-Space AB games now! They seem too simple.

I discovered Junk Jack the other night, and foolishly downloaded it.

I mean 'foolish' in the sense that it is such a fun game - but completely addictive. Already got a good 5-6 hours worth of play out of it, and I have barely scratched the surface. Terraria-like building/exploration, with an emphasis (to my mind) on treasure seeking. Lots of crops to plant/food to create, and with a hefty update due for release anytime now... it sounds like it will only get better.

It is also apparently seeing release as an OS X title through the App Store - hopefully with cross-platform syncing.

I can not recommend this game enough.

I know I'm late to the party but I just 'discovered' Kingdom Rush playing their flash version on the website...3 hours later I headed to the AppStore.
Unfortunately it is not universal...damn...
I would even double dip in this case...does anyone know if it shares save games between the 2 versions (or even the web version too, I registered)?
The non universal build is the only thing that kept me from buying the game immediately (I'll be on holiday without iPad next weeks so I'm undecided which version to get...I'm sure the iPad version is nicer and at home I play almost exclusively on iPad).

Thanks!

Yeah, I was a bit underwhelmed to be presented with a countdown to an announcement because I had in my mind the actual game should have been released around now, not an announcement.

They've said Summer since the start. Summer lasts until around the end of September. Hopefully they'll stick to the schedule and announce an early September release date and I don't know why the price is a surprise, they've basically said it will be $9.99. Perhaps they will also announce DLC prices.

Not even their website save game repository?
This means that if I get both versions...I'll have two completely different and separate games...meaning I will have to play basically twice?
Sigh...how stupid...if it is so I'll have to decide for just one version.

I wasn't complaining about facts, just my perception of them. I'm going to be traveling a lot in August so I chose to understand I'd have BG on my iPad for this.

I guess it will be an opportunity to get one of the spiderweb games.

Yeah, tried the lite version, and ended up spending a lot of time just with that. I think it's a much better fit for iPhone than either Eden or Minecraft. It controls well, and looks really good. Only complaint is that it just kinda throws you in with no instruction whatsoever. But after a short bit, I figured out a few recipes and started having a good time with it. It's oddly solitary, though, so after a while I left it alone. Been meaning to get the full version. So many sales, though, and now FFT is on my plate.

This sounds interesting . How are the controls?

I feel sorry for the original firemint, they get bought by EA then lose staff, it's those staff members which give real racing such love not the name of the team.
Yup, I'm the same. I have a feeling that the output of both teams will drop in quality for the sake of IAP milking or reduction in support.

Correct...though they are cheap enough that you could just get both.

On the topic of people bought by EA, have Popcap released any new games since they were bought by EA? (aside from ports)

Ports of Zuma's Revenge for iPhone and XBLA, Bejeweled 3 for XBLA and PSN, and the new Bejeweled and Blitz applications for iPhone.

In terms of new IP they haven't had new iPhone games, but I could see their Facebook games Solitaire Blitz making it over, Bejeweled Blitz style. Outside of that (and Pig Up, a now defunct Facebook game) they haven't had a "new IP" since Plants Vs Zombies in 2009. A lot of their work has been to bring that, Zuma and Bejeweled to a host of other platforms.

Thanks for the reply.

Well...I would double dip if they had shared saves...but as it is now...I see no point.
I would never replay all those missions.
Meaning...I play on my iPad...then go to bed and use the iPhone not to bother my wife...to replay the very same mission I just completed?
No, thanks...

I think I'll buy it on the iPad...too bad because I'll be away for 2 weeks and I could have used playing this on my iPhone too and finish it when back.
I'll choose another one when away, sigh :(

BTW...do you happen to have both versions?
How is it on iPhone? Too tiny or manageble?

I only ever played Spy vs Spy once. I was eight years old and it was the second snes game I ever played after Mario 1. I left utterly confused and went back to falling down the pits on 1-1.

What is cool about Spy vs Spy?

rawr, anyone else pick up the freemium game Jurassic Park Builder?

Link

Im generally a sucker for just about anything with Jurassic Park branding, but this is actually pretty good so far. Its your typical world builder/zoo game, you excavate rainforest on this abandoned island to discover shards of amber that you analyze in a mini-game in order to discover dna strands to clone different dinosaurs to add as attractions to your theme park. Typical IAP currency to "speed up" development and research, but Ive logged close to 10 hours so far and havent had any need to consider purchase.

GameCenter achievements and some sort of community aspect where you can visit your friends' parks and assist them with dna research projects.

A decent time waster for free.

Ugh, I'm downloading Mountain Lion and I want to purchase all those games just to try Game Center on ML. What is wrong with me? ;-;
And hey, it seems Apple is gonna start giving games on the Mac App Store a big push, so perhaps this thread may become the general purpose "Apple" gaming thread?

How the heck am I supposed to beat Speedhenge in Fieldrunners 2? Even on casual I can't pass the level, the waves just don't come fast enough, or I can't kill them fast enough, or I don't know.

I don't actually have it on the iPhone...a friend does...but it looks like you have to scroll to certain parts of the map when playing on the iPhone, whereas on the iPad you are presented with the entire map on the screen. For that reason alone I would say the iPad is the better version.

Oh shiiit, Spy vs Spy and Walking Dead already in the NZ store! What an awesome week for iOS releases!

Im interested in hearing how janky the iOS version of Walking Dead is.

edit: Looks like Touch Arcade has a preview up:

You can catch your first glimpse of the game just below. On a technical level, this thing operates like a dream on new iPad. Also, it's a pretty rad game as a whole. Give it a look if you're curious.

So I guess that means Im buying it.

This must be my lucky day (never won anything in my life).
While I was deciding between the 2 versions...I actually won TWO codes on TA...both iPad and iPhone :p

I'm absolutely LOVING it.
The iPad version is GORGEOUS...the iPhone one is nice but as you said you must scroll (annoying is you need it to activate the next wave while battling on another part of the map).
I wish it had iCloud nonetheless but apparently the dev are working on it.
Anyway the game is fantastic.

Awesome...I didnt realize they were working on iCloud support...I will probably pick it up on the iPhone once they implement that.

Dev answered me in the TA thread.
They are working on it, no timeframe yet though.
I guess it makes sense now that the iPhone version is in the wild.

I feel like I robbed them....I must buy something else from them.
The game is freaking awesome.

It's a great game, but technically it has minor annoying issues on XBLA and the graphics are poor for that platform and only masked by the cool style of them. Most annoying is that obvious things haven't been fixed between Episodes. Everyone I know who has played it and owns an iPad thinks it'll be a perfect match though. I would probably buy it again if it's ever heavily discounted.

I put about an hour into Walking Dead this morning on iPad 3 and it's terrific. The game really nails the vibe and look of the comics imo. Performance is mostly perfect with some occasional frame hitches when new scenes load but nothing game-breaking, so far it's solid.

I got Spy vs Spy too but haven't had a chance to fire it up yet.

I'd love to hear Spy vs Spy impressions. When I was a little kid I remember my family getting a NES and three extra games: Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear, and Spy vs Spy. The first two remain two of my all time favorite series, but I remember having a lot fun with Spy vs Spy (since at the time it was easier for me:)
