Hell, I love that new design posted. I would be 100% AOK if that's what the new iPhone looks like. Maintains the sleek, modern, ultra-clean look that has made the iPhone the best looking phone on the market since it's debut. Plastic '90's throwbacks like the Samsung above look like cheap toys next to that design.
Excited, I am.
EDIT:
Quoted for new page (hell yeah 50 ppp)
No. GAF simply hates everything.GAF hates anything new and different.
I prefer the look of the iPhone 4/4S better, but that doesn't look bad. It's hard to top perfection.
On the plus side, it should be more resistant to damage since the back is mostly aluminium(?) now.
My old HTC Legend had an all aluminum unibody. It still got scratches. Do you mean more shock resistant?
You know that Cook is at the helm now, right?GAF will love it because it's very much a continuation of the previous design. It's "safe" and if I know GAF, GAF hates anything new and different.
I hope that isn't the final design. The new design should be more radical. It looks great, yes, but it is the same ol'.

My Galaxy Nexus proves that wrong for me. I have medium/small hands and my thumb reaches across the screen with ease without stretching.does this mean that we won't see more emotive write ups on how 3.5" offers the most natural feel in the hand, and is the perfect screen size for any phone?
i especially liked those old diagrams showing thumb reach across the various quadrants of the screen to illustrate Apple's thoughtfulness in that regard.

Are you implying all phones look alike? iPhone 3G to iPhone 4 was a huge leap. Both rectangles. It's a rectangle. Unless they move to a plastic, I don't see it changing much in the near future.
Better to get a scratch from a drop than the back shattering. That's what I meant.

This is how the new iphone should look like to top iphone 4.

Slimmer of course. With a glowing apple icon on the back that doubles as notification light.
That's the only way to top iphone 4's design. Pure minimalism. Won't work as well with the white color though.
I had a Veer and it was a nice phone. But I wouldn't enjoy it if it had been my only phone at the time.
Isn't this the argument used on tablets? The 3G used plastic, of course there is more freedom in shaping the device with that material. There are only so many ways you can manipulate metals at the moment without it being cost prohibitive. The 4 is a good design, although the back has a tendency to break if people are rough with the device, metal will be a bit more forgiving and is a perfectly good enhancement to an already good design.
iPhone OG didn't use plastic. A phone being rectangularly shaped doesn't mean a phone design can't be new and different. See: Lumia 900.
The design is okay, but the coloration is annoying me. Should have made it charcoal throughout or at least removed that awkward looking black bar.
iPhone 4 still looks superior considering the design is cleaner.
EDIT: So is the 5's resolution the same as the 4's screen roughly? Is it more detailed or less detailed per inch of what?

Rather keep the 3.5 inch screen, that is the perfect size for any smartphone. Nothing has beat that size nor ever will. But god damn that thing is gorgeous. My 4S contract won't be up in time but that thing looks great.

Apple acquired fingerprint sensor security firm AuthenTec last week. Do you guys think that tech will be used in the iPhone 5 or next iteration of it?
I can so see Apple getting rid of "slide to unlock" and using a fingerprint reader instead.
Wait, what's the final verdict on screen size? Is it 4?
I hope this is the post that got you banned.Looks awful, no second analog stick anywhere. WTF apple.
Perfect size for a phone, too small for a smartphone.

You can manage just fine on a 4 in screen. I have one right next to me and I don't have to shift awkwardly to use it. I'll agree that the 4.5 in size is pushing it for one handed use, but the benefits far outweigh downfalls even at that size.Eh, for a smartphone I want something tiny and easy to work everything with one hand. When you start getting bigger it starts defeating the point, that is a niche far better served by the iPad and especially the upcoming iPad mini.
All signs point to 4".
I have the OG, and it is the worst design of them all. The material got very worn even though I babied it, the metals were soft, and the device felt hollow. The 4 is a much more resilient and pleasing design. Apple already did the Lumina design, the iPod Nano - why do you prefer they rehash that design over the rehashing of the 4's design?
Yes, the new design looks similar to the 4/4S, but I thought all people wanted was a larger screen and a way to show off they have the latest and greatest - this is exactly what is purported they have done.

Here's a look at the new iPhone assembled from actual leaked parts. It's likely the most accurate look at the new phone so far.

Ya but it's a 3 year old design. There's nothing to get excited over since it's the 3rd phone with the exact same styling. I'll admit the 4 and 4s are still very sexy phones but they're by no means the best looking phones on the market anymore. Lumia 900 for example is very unique and sexy.
I'd love to see a sleek industrial design which wasn't so fragile. I hate that you pretty much have to have a case for the 4s because 1 drop and the screen is almost guaranteed to break. Phones like these are too nice to be hidden in a case.
You know that Cook is at the helm now, right?
His mass manufacturing tendencies will outweigh implausible ideas from a proper visionary.
