The Netflix Recommendation Thread of Dope Movies

I'm watching The Weather Man for the first time. It's entertaining so far. Camel toe.

Edit: The insults in this movie are hilarious. "You're a blue ribbon fuck!"

I watched Dogtooth last night and I'm still thinking about it today. I'd say it's the best movie I've seen in a long time, but I just watched Tree of Life last weekend.

I highly recommend it, but you have to watch it soon as it expires on the 25th.

This movie was terrible, but I do appreciate the recommendation. I know netflix offers us a limited amount of options. But this movie sits pretty low on the okay film level.

Anyone saying this film was thought provoking or enjoyable has to ask...

Does it have a foreign language?

Is it saturated with director guilt?

Netflix removing this film is the best thing gaf has seen in a long time.

So is this:

I've been meaning to watch this one for awhile, just for Lauren Graham. Big Gilmore Girls fan.. <3

I started watching this... seems pretty interesting, but the music is horrid. It's distractingly bad. And I'm not someone who usually pays attention to the score.

I agree and that's probably the only negative thing I can say about the film. Try to soldier on as you'll be hanging on every word when it starts picking up.

The fact that Netflix doesn't show you when a title expires anymore is total bullshit. It's almost like they're hiding the fact that so much of their material is running out. It's completely sketchy.

Im thinking of starting a new show and I see people have good things to say about Terriers, but i know it got canned after one season, does the show end on a cliffhanger or do they wrap things up?

Just started watching Nikita, and im really surprised how good it is!

Both, sort of. Good show though, you won't regret it.

I just changed to the Canada store using unblock-us and the difference in selection seems huge! It's like having a whole new Netflix.

Hell on Wheels is up.

Awesome. Really like that show... protagonist could probably carry a feature film. Great charisma for someone who barely speaks. He gets hammy sometimes when acting drunk, but pretty fun to watch anyway.

It's not conclusive in that it gives an "answer" for everything but the ending is just about perfect for every character.

Try a fresh install of silverlight.

Thanks for the advice.

When is the last time you updated the drivers? I had a problem with netflix and some resized videos on youtube locking up my pc an update or two ago.

Maybe never? Netflix.com's been working since forever. With the new update, it just restarts my machine totally. Just netflix, everything else works fine. So maybe its silverlight.

Just watched a Korean movie called Antarctic Journal (2005). I found it to be one of the creepier movies I have seen in a while. It's about this group of six Korean men who are making a trek to a certain point in the arctic. Then they find an old journal that belonged to British explorers from the 1920's. Without giving anything away a lot of creepy stuff happens. It is very psychological and atmospheric horror. Also beautifully filmed and has a really nice soundtrack by Kenji Kawaii.

BUT the quality of the subtitles were absolutely horrible! I mean, I got the gist of the film but I know some of the dialogue came off as awkward because of the piss poor english translation. Still worth a watch. As it's really hard to find good intelligent horror nowadays this one came as a pleasant surprise. There were at least half a dozen moments that gave me cold chills. That alone means it did it's job.

I watched this about a month ago because I'm a fan of Song Kang-ho and liked it too. Dinfluenced a movie influenced by The Thing and The Shining.

Knuckle: Documentary following three different traveler clans and their on going feud which they "settle" by bare knuckle boxing.

Really enjoyed this documentary into a culture that I know nothing about but having done mixed martial arts and found myself in multiple fights in my life it is really interesting seeing these people go out of their way to setup fights among family members and people they otherwise might have never come in contact with.

Assuming we are all talking about the same class action:

To exclude yourself from the Settlement Class, you must send a letter saying that you want to be “excluded” from the Class in In re Netflix Privacy Litigation, No. 5:11-cv-00379-EJD. Your exclusion request must include your name, address, telephone number, signature, and a signed statement to the effect that: “I/We hereby request to be excluded from the proposed Settlement Class in In re Netflix Privacy Litigation.” Your exclusion request must be postmarked no later than November 14, 2012, and sent to the Settlement Administrator at the following address:

That's fucked up. How can they add me as part of the class action with no information other than my email address, but they need enough of my personal information to open a bank account just to take me off it.

Fucking scammers....

I really don't know anything about this kind of thing, but I don't want to be any part of it. Is there a thread for this whole debacle, I feel like there should be?

This sort of thing goes on all the time. We've received so many class-action notifications over the years for things we've bought or services we've paid for. Moving companies, truck rental, department stores, cars, car rental, airlines, etc., etc., etc. Sometimes these lawsuits are educational. I learned that a Honda CR-V AWD has to be towed with all four wheels off the ground because Honda got sued for saying two-wheel towing was OK when in reality it burned up the AWD. And I also learned about the Honda 4% odometer "error". Hmmm, two Honda examples. Anyway, I guess there's a good side to these lawsuits (sometimes).

Around 35 episodes of ESPN's "30 for 30" series were added today. I highly recommend these for anyone into sports at all, even if you're just a casual fan. There are some great ones.

Nice!

Some of my favs were:
Winning Time (about Reggie miller vs. the Knicks)
The U (about university of Miami football)
Once Brothers (about Yugoslav bballer Drazen Petrovic)

30 for 30: The Two Escobars is the best of the series. It's one of the best damn documentaries I've ever seen.

You dont have to be a sports fan or a soccer fan to enjoy this doc. I hate soccer and this was still one of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

It is kind of a pain that the episodes aren't listed as a series and you have to add them one by one.

i need a dope movie netflix streaming recommendation. i want something that wont be jarring to my fragile psyche. nothing intense or emotional. i dont want to have to think hard either. no documentaries. comedy would be good. anybody!

The IT Crowd? Archer? Hottub Time Machine?

Rewatched it last week too. Fun movie. I pointed this out before, but I find it hilarious that Wilt Chamberlain plays a character in charge of guarding a girl's virginity.
Oh my gosh, I didn't even realize it was him till you said so just now! LOL Oh the irony. Also, didn't he bite Arnold's ear off in the final battle?

I can't see the DNS settings for Canada anywhere (at least for use on the PS3). How do I get to see Canadian content on the console?

Go to unblock us, go to the 'how to setup' tab, and there's a drop down box at the top to select your Netflix region, no DNS Chang necessary.
