Should have one selected before the end of the weekend, we're still discussing it now.
Shyamalan twist there is no server, GAF IS THE SERVER!

I'm in NYC, so meeting nerdy girls isn't hard. I have a hard time finding any that I'm compatible with. For me, most of my prospects have been interracial dating with girls that have had hang ups with their families. I should get back to looking, with NY Comic-con coming up, and PAX East next year.
Just go Henge of Denrevi, or whatever the pre-Madness one is.
It's actually on the (very short) list, and we had a nice member of their community post on our thread.

I think Ferrio would have a conniption if we went with Henge. And it truly was bad at WvW
This is... painful to watch. At the same time, interesting. The Star Wars guy looked more than decent to me, but this is coming from a guy. I'd probably also be considered too social or not geeky enough to be on the show.Find love at NY Comic-con!
Fun fact: I signed my brother and I up for this (mostly for him since he can't stop making nerdy references around people) and they picked me to audition for the show. During the phone interview the woman told me that I was too social and not "geeky" enough to be on the show. :-/
The thing about Henge is that once more of GAF gets going, and more people understand the mechanics, it will get better. I was on Henge through almost all of the BWE3 and during the Stress Test and I played on WvW here and there, and all throughout the Stress Test. The two most important things are presence and coordination, and the nice thing about the people on Henge is that I kept running into people who were willing to listen to me, to run with me and my group of friends, to travel together and take stuff down together. They're willing and able, but need a leader. And I was more than willing to lead them. It's actually on the (very short) list, and we had a nice member of their community post on our thread.
Checking gafguild.com, shouldn't there be a section for WvW discussion?
There's a general PvP section. Perhaps it would be good to divide the two PvP modes since I'm sure we will have people who will only do one or the other.Checking gafguild.com, shouldn't there be a section for WvW discussion?

Topic of Server:
I would not over-think it since there will be dramatic shifts within the first few months. I can imagine top WvWvW alliances switching between seasons. I am more inclined to find a med-high pop server just for the economy. More people usually means lower prices due to availability. But there will be shifts there, too. Rock/hard place.
Are there any screenshots of characters decked in imba gear? One of the reasons I like MMO's is to pimp up my character, so it better look nice!

I've seen huge guilds move in other MMOs so money isnt an issue, apparently. Even when they were on great servers they would still move for whatever reason. I'm just basing my thoughts on my experiences. It seems that when it makes the least sense - that's when it happens ha!I honestly dont expect the huge alliances to move at all unless its to a brand new server because they couldnt get all of their people into the one they wanted. It simply would cost too much money and be a complete pain trying to get everyone in an alliance on an already existing server. I doubt there would be enough room if arenanet has done their job right in terms of the amount of servers available

LMFAO! This is what happens when I only research professions for my blackout. Hell I just learned yesterday about custom soundtracks ha!The Trading Post is global so that's not exactly going to work.![]()
The forum replacing the GAFGuild thread in community, correct?
I'll probably just do most of my posting on GAF. Unless no one else does.
Not at all, as there will still be lots of people who want to discuss the game without joining the guild (i.e rolling on other servers, etc.). The WoW community thread doesn't focus on a single GAF Guild, neither will the GW2 one. It just seems that way since the people excited for GW2 are predominantly the ones joining the GAF Guild.
Eventually, all OTs transition to the Community side too.
I was just saying, having an OT which will comprise the bulk of the discussion of Guild Wars on GAF, a GAFGuild thread, and a GAFGuild forums seems like it's spreading things a bit thin, yamean?
hundred blades combo
how to evade/dodge the hundred blades combo and eviscerate (binding dodge on mouse scroll is actually a pretty neat idea)

It's even better with the left bumper on a gamepad. Oh yeah.Nice video, it all makes sense. I prefer to keep my dodge to space bar, not a bad idea on the mouse scroll though.

A bit thin yes, but as I said; proactive. Once the OT is retired to the community thread, the one that exists now will cease to be and all guild business will be on GAFGuild.com.
The GAFGuild forum is a much better place for those kinds of discussions, because it lets you filter for the individual conversation, instead of having to balance 4-5 individual conversations at once. The only downside is, we get a lot less Retro mega-replies now that he is posting on gafguild.com.

Well I plan to be in the gaf guild so maybe I will have to just use that site.
How does mumble work, btw? What information do I need (server, etc?)
So the GAFGuild community thread will be a month long buffer and when the OT moves to community things will be as I thought: the GW2 OT in community and the GAFGuild forum which is off site?
Pretty much yeah , the GW2 will eventually go to the community section anyway. So once that happens, the existing community thread now won't really be needed as most of that will be over at the guild site.So the GAFGuild community thread will be a month long buffer and when the OT moves to community things will be as I thought: the GW2 OT in community and the GAFGuild forum which is off site?
Thanks. I've registered, just haven't posted.
That was during the Betas, but it does give the server a certain stigma. Our concern with Henge at this point is actually its extremely low population. We see two results; either it remains a low pop server post launch, or a major Alliance picks it so they can effectively rule the server.
Here's a video (see description for the links to specific races): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEJDW8KjVos
That's just the dungeon gear. There's also race-specific "Cultural Armor", armor sets you can get via renown regions, regular old-fashioned drops, and crafting.
Oh, and Legendary weapons (like a unicorn bow that shoots rainbows, a hammer that causes you to appear as if you're made of liquid metal, and a pair of greatswords that look like the day / night sky, amongst others)
We didn't want to create a billion sub-forums because those tend to become scattered. That's why there's a "Professions Forum" with tags for each profession, rather than a forum for each profession. We figured it was better to have 5 sub-forums with 10 posts each than 10 sub-forums with 5 posts each.
That said, I just mentioned to Ferny the possibility of having SPVP and WvW tags in the PVP Subforum so people can quickly find the content they're looking for.
It's only been up a week and we already have 129 members and over 1000 posts across 57 threads. We just added the Shoutbox, got the events calendar up, and are slowly tweaking /adding features. Plus we're having our server discussion.
Random question: how many players do you need to actually set up a guild?

I actually wouldn't mind becoming an officer of WvW for the GAF guild. Otherwise most of my WvW time will be spent with my guild of close friends.

I also felt like I had to turn off double tap to dodge, and bind it to something. I use my mouse thumb button (which doesn't interfere with push to talk since I use ctrl with my left pinky for that). The thing that got me to unbind double tap was when I was trying creep up to a ledge and accidentally dodged off.

Thanks, that video was really helpful. Quite the upgrade from Wow's armor sets...

I feel double tap dodge has to be turned off if you plan on doing any of the jump puzzles....hell, even vistas. I forgot to do this in the stress test the other day and learned really quick to turn that crap off and assign keys.
He meant that on first read, he thought your fiancee accepted your "deal" and decided to give up her favorite hobbies just to get you to quit gaming. Mutually assured destruction is a terrible thing.

My pinky finger rests on shift when I'm rocking WASD, so I've been putting Dodge there. Mouse Wheel is for Push-to-Talk so I can move, dodge, attack and scream for more chocolate milk at the same time.
I think with wvw some of the fault lies with Anet. There's no really no clear indication of what to do and if there was, I totally missed it.
One player, at the cost of 1 silver for a 50 member guild. You can then speak to a Guild Registrar and pay a fee to increase your guild's size;
100 Members = 1 silver
200 Members = 10 silver
300 Members = 1 gold (or 100 silver)
400 Members = 1 gold
500 Members = 2 gold
I'm used to "voice-level activated", which has never been a problem whether on Ventrilo, Teamspeak or even Steam voice chat, but somehow it seems that voice activation threshold can't be changed in Mumble.
