does anyone else's eyes get weird after playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band?

Silly question probably, but im asking cause I never get like sick from first person shooters with low FOV, or anything like that, so im curious.

I played Guitar Hero today for the first time in a long time and I totally forgot this happened to me.

Basically after staring at it for one song, if my sight goes elsewhere and I look around me, everything starts to warp or slowly move. It lasts a little bit but it really fucks up with my eyesight and doesnt feel pleasant. I think it also happend to me once or twice after looking at a certain pattern for too long, but those were all static, unlike a videogame.

anyone else? feel free to discuss any other type of eye sore from games I guess

yep, it's pretty common. it will go away after you stop playing.

edit: oops just noticed you have had it happen before so you know it goes away.

Yes, I also sometimes feel something like this after playing GH/RB, but it was more common for me when I played on smaller TVs.

Yeah it's funny.

My brother and I would play guitar hero then look at his Farth Vader cardboard cutout right after.

Creeped us the fuck out as he rooooooose over us about to deliver doom.

What? Rewire how our eyes and brain react to a moving visual stimulus?

Just realizing that this happened and at least tinkered with how the game displayed to see if there was any chance they could somewhat obliterate that effect. Surely it was not possible but ive just never seen anyone on the dev team mention it.

It's like the walls try to scroll like the notes track.

I've been noticing this happening to me now that I've been playing Sonic Generations. It freaked me out at first, but I deal with it now haha.

After playing over 500 hours of RockBand drums I've never had that problem. The only thing I have problems with are shooters with low FOV's. (Which you already mentioned)

I'm basically the opposite of you lol

No, I've never noticed it. But I experienced that after playing the Beat Hazard demo with the effects at 200%, it kinda makes your eyes hurt and feel a little dizzy.

I've gotten this during Rock Band for sure. I even recently got it while playing a long session of Trials Evolution. Scrolling to the right for that long started screwing with my vision a bit. It always passes after a minute though.

I used to, but it stopped. Probably because I learned to stop staring at the notes. Just kinda "see" the board without ever really looking at a specific note.

A friend of mine kept mentioning this to me over the past week. I used to play a lot and never even noticed anything. We decided to play the other night and after a long song my friend told me to look at a picture on the wall. All the trees and mountains were warping around the frame. Pretty nuts.

I get that every time I watch ending credits. It looks like something is scrolling up in your view. I believe that happens to everyone.

I can get this just from reading credit reels. Edit: beaten.

Probably something going on in your brain rather than your eyes. Or is it our eyes repeatedly 'micro scrolling' vertically once they should have stopped?

I think it's an altered version of Tunnel Vision. And like many have said prior, it is due to a focus on a particular area of the screen. It doesn't help that the area around where you're focusing is pretty static for the most part, which would cause for your peripheral to slowly tune it out.

But I think one of the best cures for this is to get distracted and look everywhere on the screen for a moment in the game to help prevent your eyes from adjusting to the track area.

Yeah, I haven't played anyy GH games for a while but this rings a bell for me, I vaguely remind that everything kept scrolling after a long session.
