How do you feel about giant phones/phablets?

Anything over S2 size is too big in my opinion. Notes look ridiculous - get an actual tablet for when you need screen size. Phones are meant to be pocketable easily not look like you have a novel in your pants.

I barely notice my Galaxy Nexus in my pocket, thanks to its thinness. Of course, the definition of "uncomfortably large" varies from person to person, but is 9.28 mm (.365") - that's how much wider the GNex is than the 4S - really the straw that's gonna break that particular camel's back? Sure, it's also a bit taller, but that doesn't seem like it should be very significant for pocketability.

I've got my iPhone in a case. A Fleck CandyShell, to be exact.

Can't go back to using anything sub 4.3 after using my Galaxy nexus. Hell, having been using my nexus 7 lately, my galaxy is starting to feel smaller.

Didn't we have this thread before?

Until a phone is bigger than PS Vita, it's not "too big to handle."

You all have pussy hands.

We're coming full circle. Within a couple years, we'll be holding huge-ass contraptions just like the first cell phones from the 80s.

I really hope Sprint get Samsung Galaxy Note series.

I am sporting a EVO 4 LTE right now which is 4.7 inch. I want my phone to be a little bigger like the note.

yes, I hate how phones have gotten bigger over the years since smart phones became popular.

That's why I ended up with and Xperia Ray. It's the smallest, yet very capable, smart phone I could find.

The Xperia Ray is the perfect size and fits in your pocket unlike that huge iPhone.

Galaxy Nexus is perfect size imo. Anything else feels too small and the phone itself fits in my pockets comfortably.

I thought the top pocket is the lip stick pocket.

These days our devices aren't really phones anymore though. They're more like mini PCs that can make phone calls. They will go back to being small again when there's a different way to project the screen.

Once you go big, you can't go back. I pity the tiny ass iPhone screen.
Agreed. My previous phone was a HTC Desire with a 3.7" screen. When I got my S3, at first the screen looked massive, then after half a day it looked normal and the Desire's screen looked small.

They're the future. I have a Galaxy Nexus and wish it was as big as the Note. As phones continue to get more powerful and replace laptops people will want bigger and bigger screens. I would really like a phone the size of a Nexus 7 and just use a Bluetooth headset or Google Glass.

The worlds gone batshit crazy.

People look like idiots putting those huge androids in their pockets... it looks awkward when they are trying to put them in their pockets, taking them out, as well as talking on them. STOP IT PEOPLE.

I don't even think the iPhone should go above its current form factor. I like it because it fits in your pocket without much fuss and you can sit down without having to adjust your phone. I personally think the iphone is kind of bulky at times. Its not terrible since I don't have one of those huge rubber cases on it, just one that covers the outside with a thin piece of plastic in case of a small drop it might help. I like my mobile to be... mobile.

3.5" is too small to be a 'smart phone'. I can't browse the web and the PPI blows ass. So the sweet spot for me is 4.3". Phablets are a fad, but tablets are here to stay, in fact replace laptops completely here soon.

My company buys me a new phone every 6 months so I tend to try them all ... 4.3" ftw.

I thought the top pocket is the lip stick pocket.

Top pocket has been around for decades and was designed to be a change pocket.

HTC may have a 5" (hopefully 1080p screen) phone coming out soon. If it does Sprint will get it.

5" phones are dat future.

I love my galaxy nexus, but man, having to carry it in a wheelbarrow and the third arm attachment surgery are such a pain.

I thought the top pocket is the lip stick pocket.

Zippo pocket.

(the GN fits in some of my jean's top pocket)

I still maintain the iPhone is the perfect size, but I know many on GAF would say I'm just not willing to look past anything Apple does.

Even my Galaxy Mini is decent enough in size, and that has a 3" screen.

The Galaxy Note is a fucking joke in my eyes.

At first I thought the S2 was enormous. Now I want a bigger phone even though it's kind of difficult to fit it in my pocket.

I think the iPhone is way too small (the real issue is the width, so 5 fixes nothing), and the Galaxy S3 is just a bit big from my experience. I would probably be right at home with a Nexus or something 4.5".

Then again I use my S3 more like I use a mobile computer than a smart phone, so I'd naturally want a bigger screen. Everyone I know just scroll through facebook all day, so the iPhone screen size is perfect for them.

I find my Gnexus to be just about the right size. The software buttons make the actual screen seem a bit smaller so is easier to use one handed but the buttons go away when watching a video so you get the full benefit of the big screen.

I think the GS3 is just too far, the next phone I get will be the next Nexus and I really hope they keep the screen size of the GNexus and make the phone slimmer.

I just got a phone contract a few days ago so I have a decent phone before I go off to college. I got the Note, and I love it. It's still small enough to fit in one hand, while having a high quality large screen. The problem I've had with my previous phones was the screens were much smaller, and the touch keyboards were so bloody small I couldn't type with ease, so I was always pressing the wrong/multiple keys.
Admittedly, I haven't had it very long, but I can certainly see this being one of the few recent phones I actually like having.

I don't see any need to go above 3.5. If you want to use any intensive apps or serious web browsing that is what your tablet is for.

I would have said that until using a bigger screen, now I can't go back. I have a 4th gen iPod and whenever I use it everything feels a little, well, cramped. I don't have a tablet so my GNexus is perfect for my web browsing at home in front of the TV.

Small phones for me, I hate having to use both hands just to use a huge-ass smartphone. Even 4" feels humongous and 3.5" feels uncomfortable, and my Xperia Mini Pro at 3" is perfectly usable one handed without stretching your thumb in uncomfortable or strange angles, and has a slider QWERTY in order to type more than a couple of words.

I doubt they will ever manufacture something similar at a decent horsepower so I'm going to use the heck of this bad boy until it falls to pieces.

I have a Note, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't regret it a little bit. Sure, the screen and battery are great, but it is cumbersome. I think the S3 is the perfect size, as far as I concerned, you should be able to touch any part of the screen with one thumb. I won't be getting a phone this large next time, although it is a fabulous bit of kit!

Guy at work has a Galaxy note, it really looks stupidly large when he calls on it.

I rock a 4S iPad 3 combo, and it suits me fine.

At least we have choices though.
